  • "Bedehouse Cottage was the perfect base for our family holiday in the beautiful Peak District."

The cottage is immaculate, tastefully decorated, well-equipped and very comfortably hosted our family of four for a week. There was a generous welcome pack left by the owner which was appreciated. Great to have an easily accessible parking space, bike store and the garden area opposite (although we didn't use this). It is in Cromford with a general store, pubs, two chippies, restaurants and a bookshop within a 5 minute walk, plus Cromford Mill and its fascinating history. There are also loads of walks you can do from the cottage into the countryside. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

It was cosy and the owner had provided a lot of information to help us plan our stay. I have a holiday cottage in Cornwall and I know what good hosting looks like. This cottage ticked all the boxes. The only thing was we couldn't work out the SkyQ tv and it looked like the channels were not tuned in. Otherwise a great stay, thank you!

Bedehouse Cottage is perfectly located to visit many different places; so many that we will have to come back because we didn’t get to see them all! Friendly, helpful owners living next door but not intrusive at all. Our children loved your sausage dog and cats! The cottage is well loved and looked after. There are many board games in the cottage and a well equipped kitchen. Thank you again for having us, Emma, John, Noah and Monty.

It is well located and a fantasic base to explore the wider peak district. The village is cute with a couple of pubs and cafes. Scarthin Books is a lovely book shop, with cafe on 2nd floor and is worth a visit for lunch. Cromford Mills is also lovely and the walk along the canal was beautiful. The cottage is spacious and homely and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. The small garden opposite was also lovely. The owners (located next door) were really nice and greeted us on arrival and on check out to make sure everything had been OK with our stay. We will definitely stay again.

The cottage is in a great location for exploring the Peak District with the high peak trail only a few minutes away either by car or walking direct from the cottage. Sarah and her husband are very welcoming and available if you need anything and the welcome basket of goodies was a nice touch. The cottage itself is comfortable and cosy and finished to a high standard with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Cromford village is very pretty and has a pub, cafe, chip shop and village shops all within a few minutes walk. We will certainly be returning for a 5th stay.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Bedehouse cottage."

Welcomed by a lovely clean and cozy cottage and a great welcome pack with nice touches for our son (which we haven’t had before) which made him feel very welcome too. We appreciated the books and toys in the cottage, especially as I had forgotten to pack some! Only niggle was having no where in the bathroom to put toiletries. I saw that this had been mentioned a lot in the visitors book too dating back to 2015! Easily remedied with a small shelving unit as there is plenty of space. The twin bedroom could really benefit from a chest of draws as well. We struggled with only one towel per person for a weeks stay. Next time I would bring more of our own towels with us.

Thank you for your feedback. There is a bathroom shelf and a shower caddy for guests toiletries in the bathroom. The review from 2015 was remedied several years ago! With regard to the towels, if any additional towels were required during your stay we would have been more than happy to supply. Property Owner

It’s a wonderful place to stay. Very clean, well-equipped, spacious and conveniently situated. It has flat parking, unlike many cottages in the Peaks. It's a very old cottage with slightly limited headroom immediately next to the outside walls upstairs but that is only to be expected in a cottage of this age and adds to the charm. It is so well equipped with everything you could need. It’s a perfect location to explore Derbyshire and Cromford itself is lovely. Short walk to local pubs and Parkys which is a bistro/cafe. Also you can walk to the mill and canal easily. Walk back up a steep hill is a little more of an effort. Our host was lovely and left us a welcome pack which was so nice. For me the only reason I didn’t give top marks for comfort was because the double bed had a very hard mattress which I found difficult to get used to so a couple of poor nights sleep until I got used to it - but that’s personal preference and some people might be used to a hard mattress already. All in all a wonderful stay.

It was comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The owners Sarah and David live next door and are very helpful without being intrusive. On this occasion the chilly weather prevented us from sitting out in the outside garden area which is opposite the cottage, but it is there for those who stay in warmer weather. For walkers, Cromford is an ideal place with many walking trails accessible from the village, as well as those a little further away. It has pubs, cafes, a village shop and an excellent bookshop. For anyone like ourselves who do not have their own transport, Cromford is an excellent base as the public transport links are good in several directions giving access to Wirksworth, Ashbourne, Derby, Matlock, Bakewell and many other places. We highly recommend this cottage and intend to return again ourselves in the future.

  • "We loved Bedehouse cottage."

The house was very clean and comfortable and beautifully presented. The owner had left a lovely table of goodies on arrival and everything you might need in the kitchen, which was excellent! The only thing that we would suggest is maybe a chest of drawers in the bedrooms for clothes that aren’t being hung up and possible a shelf in the bathroom as there wasn’t anywhere to put wash bags and toiletries. But these really are just minor suggestions. We really loved the house and the whole experience was very easy and convenient and just what we were looking for. It didn’t effect our stay as it was winter time but we were expecting a small garden/terrace as mentioned in one of the reviews but couldn’t see one? Perhaps the review is an old review?

Many thanks for your feedback. We will be installing a bathroom shelf in the next couple of weeks for toiletries etc.. We do feel there is adequate drawer space in the home, with the main bedroom having 7 drawers in total, and the second bedroom having shelving within the wardrobe. The outside seating is as per the photographs online and is directly adjacent the cottage , outside the lounge window. The cottage was fab very clean and comfortable, lovely welcome pack. The cottage was really well decorated and comfortable for the two of us. However, again the details about the cottage were very misleading, the noise from the road was horrendous, we didn't know there was a quarry 100 yards up the road and the lorries started thundering up and down and the road at 5 am. The traffic was non stop all day. The cottage said it had a seating area. It did but it was away from the cottage and you couldn't see the front door from where you were sat, so we felt we had to keep locking the front door but again it was 50 yards from the traffic noise. Obviously the owners can't do anything about the road but it should have been stated in the details that there is road noise.

They checked that we were happy with everything and that we should call them if we needed anything. They are lovely people who were very welcoming. The cottage is spacious, well equipped and is located within the village, just a few minutes from a selection of shops. • "We really enjoyed our stay at Bedehouse Cottage."

The owners (who live next door) were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, but not at all obtrusive. We very much appreciated the welcome pack of wine, kettle crisps and coffee. The cottage is approximately 5 minutes walk to the centre of Cromford village. The cottage is ideally situated for walking, of which there are many walking route suggestions in the cottage. The local area is steeped in industrial history, with Richard Arkwright's Cromford Mills and Masson Mills nearby. A visit to Matlock Bath is highly recommended, being a seaside town complete with multiple fish & chip shops, amusements, candy floss, a promenade, cable cars (Heights of Abraham) etc, just one missing factor from Matlock Bath being a seaside town...that is...the sea. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable holiday cottage.

The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. It was a great to have Sky TV to relax in front of at the end of the day. We only had to take the car out a couple of times, because there is so much to see on your doorstop so we walked everywhere. The cottage itself offers the charm of a period cottage (brickwork, thick walls, wooden beams- not too low) while being equipped to a very high standard- plenty of kitchen utensils, dish washer ,washing machine, large fridge and freezer. Each of the rooms offer a great amount of space ( unexpected for a cottage) and are decorated to a lovely standard. The hospitality of the owner ( who lives next door) is exceptional- offering advise on the area, being available if required but never being intrusive. The welcome pack was very welcome! The area offers plenty to do either on foot or by car. It was a welcome break not to drive for a few days. The local area offers- Abrahams's Heights, Cromford Canal (with boat trip), Arkwright Mills and plenty more.
