  • "We had a lovely week at Skylark."

Although it is only about an hour from home we have never been to this part of Derbyshire, but it is so beautiful!! The cottage is situated close to Longnor and has lovely walks nearby. The villages of Chelmorton and Hartington are closeby and have lovely places to eat out. Skylark is a perfect place to chill out and leave the hectic pace of modern life behind. The hosts are welcoming and very helpful and the accommodation is beautiful. We will definitely be revisiting in the future.

The required 1000hrs departure time is stressful if you have a long drive home ahead. Departure times for Hotels, etc, is usually 1100hrs. Owners Julie and Justin very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend a stay at Skylark.

So we'll equipped- everything you could need! Super lovely and clean, well maintained and fresh. The towels and bath mat could do with replacing as tatty, as could the toilet brush. Shower was lovely, hot and powerful! Not the best nights sleep as the blinds don't keep the light out and thr bedroom was very hot. The matress was comfy but pillows are old and flat so replacing those would elevate ones sleep! All in all, a lovely little cottage - I really am nit picking with the improvements, but if they were sorted it would be an easy 10/10. The biscuits were also greatly appreciated! Many thanks for a lovely stay

  • "Our stay at Skylark was absolutely perfect."

We arrived in the dark after some difficulty in the snow, and found the apartment already heated up and cosy, and the makings of a much-needed cup of tea (including a packet of chocolate biscuits) were provided - the owners had thought of everything. The space was immaculately clean and modern while also having lots of traditional character in the beams and stone walls. The heating and appliances were all easy to use, the kitchen cupboards were well-stocked with every utensil and container you could want, and everything was comfy, from the sofa to the bed linens. The electric fire was lovely for cosy evenings on the sofa. The location was ideal, on the outskirts of the village of Longnor and a short walk to Crowdecote as well as being an easy drive to other nearby villages and walking routes. I can't recommend it enough and hope to visit again one day!

  • "The property wasn’t as clean as advertised."

Vases of fake flowers and bowls of potpourri which were dusty and had seen better days were there, and not sure these types of things are allowed in the current Covid-19 situation? There were cobwebs around, and empty air fresheners in the crockery cupboard that made all the plates smell! We were told before going to the property that we couldn’t get in until 4pm as it would be deep cleaned after each person in compliance with Covid-19 but there was no evidence that the deep clean had taken place. Sofa was extremely uncomfortable and the towels were grey and thin and had seen better days. There was a lot of door slamming from the occupants in the apartment beneath, due we think to the fire door hinge needing adjusting.
