"We booked through sykes cottages for the first time and can honestly say we will definitely be booking again through them ."
We had an amazing holiday in the Peak District and woodbine cottage was really nice cosy clean and comfy..it was well equipped and the hit tub was lovely..we all had the best time ever and there was so much to do near were we where staying we were out every day climbing rocks exploring caves and water falls..it was close to matlock and bakewell towns that had really nice shops and was easy to get to...sad to be home and can't wait to book out next holiday.would definitely go back to woodbine but with sykes cottages all over UK irland Scotland and Wales we have got so many more options...looking forward to booking more exciting adventures holidays.

"A little dated hot tub great, great for 2 people but only having 1 bathroom can be an issue for a group."

"The cottage itself was everything we hoped for, it was clean, beds were comfortable and the robes and slippers a lovely touch."
The hot tub was a different matter. The water was quite green to start with but we assumed had been treated ready for our arrival. The owner advised to test chlorine levels late evening or in the morning - this was after our children had already used it on arrival. We could not get the chlorine levels up to a safe level due to insufficient chlorine available at the property and my son was referred to A&E with a serious ear infection within 4 days of leaving the property. Our advice is to test chlorine levels BEFORE YOU USE THE HOT TUB for your own safety. If it's below a safe level, don't use it. We notified the owner after we left, even showing photos of my son's ear antibiotics prescribed by the hospital, but we did not get a response.

"We had a lovely stay over Easter."
The cottage was as described and warm, clean and cosy when we arrived after a long journey! We loved the hot tub in the evening after a busy day. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped and we appreciated the milk, coffee, tea and hot chocolate you left for us. The cottage was well situated for walks around the area, and there was a good walk behind the village. We were a little worried about being able to park close by after previous reviews but there was always plenty of spaces! We would definitely come back!

"A beautiful cottage with a lovely garden area and hot tub."
Very comfy beds with linen and towels provided which is a big bonus. The only downside for us was the parking, on the first couple of nights of our stay we had to park on the road a long long way from the cottage. Apart from that, we had an absolutely brilliant stay!
Hi Amy Thank you for lovely feedback. There are spaces for about 15 cars usually, must have been exceptionally busy when you were there. Property Owner

"Lovely cottage in an amazing location."
The weekend we came to stay it was freezing cold, super thick frost everywhere but the cottage was so cosy and warm. The kitchen well equipped everything you need to stay. I must say the master bedrooms bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in so so comfortable. The hot tub was great freezing cold outside but the tub was so nice with a great view over the valley. Nothing negative all positive thanks for a great weekend with friends
Thank you Mark for your lovely review, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay in our cottage, even though the weather was freezing. Property Owner

"This property is lovely."
Very comfortable for 4 of us for a long weekend. The jacuzzi was the icing on the cake, it looked quite new and very clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable and varied in size from single to super king although I would suggest bigger duvets for both the larger beds as they barely reached the edges of the bed. The kitchen had plenty of pots, pans and cutlery and a table for 4 people (I didn’t notice if there was a spare chair for a fifth). The bathroom was small but functional once you got the hang of the shower. All-in-all a good spot to stay for a trip to the Peak District for 2 couples or small family.

"A very welcomed gift of wine and biscuits await your arrival at this lovely place to stay, complete with hot tub."
The cottage is set back from the main square where there is parking for your car. It is well kept, with plenty of room. The hot tub is perfect, providing a relaxing start to the day or after visiting the many places around and about. The temperature can be adjusted to suit your needs. The cottage is well equipped for the self-caterer, as well as there being a number of pubs with restaurants nearby. Somewhere you can relax and refresh yourselves.

"We had a lovely stay at Woodbine Cottage."
It was our first trip away with our 3 month old baby, so we needed somewhere that we were comfortable spending a lot of time in if she was unsettled. The cottage was perfectly kitted out with everything we needed for our stay. The beds were very comfortable and it was lovely and cosy with the fire in the lounge. All of the photos were an excellent reflection of the cottage, everything was as described. The hot tub was also a real luxury after a big day of hiking! It was very helpful having direct contact with our hosts so we could get in touch with them if there were any issues (although we didn’t need to!) and it made us feel a lot more comfortable knowing that we were speaking with the hosts directly. They also gave us some great recommendations for the area and were very helpful.
Thank you Ellie. So glad you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

"Cozy cottage tucked away in a peaceful spot."
Not far from Chatsworth house and Abraham heights which are both worth a visit. Enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub watching the birds in the trees. We had a lovely stay.

"The hot tub wasn’t as clean as one would expect which was a little alarming."
Some more pegs to hang wet clothes out would have been helpful. The bathroom needs some attention, especially the seal to the shower door. A mirror in all bedrooms would be useful. The crockery does not fit/stack into the dishwasher so ended up washing up. The cottage accommodates for 5 but only 4 dining chairs. There were 5 of us altogether but only 2 robes and one pair of slippers? This (in my opinion) was ‘high end’ in price so I expected a little more luxury. Some basic essentials for arrival would have been nice and we’ve experienced this at other places we’ve stayed. This was my only holiday this year with my two children. My friend joined us with her son. The children especially wished for a hot tub hence us choosing this cottage. The stay was lovely and we enjoyed it. Just a few things mentioned above that would have made it better. Good location and friendly neighbours. Bedding and towels nice. Good selection of leaflets with things to do and good games to use. Well equipped kitchen.
We’re sorry that on this occasion the hot tub was not found to your liking- if a cleanliness issue had been highlighted during your stay we would have asked our cleaner to re-visit to correct. Lines around the hot tub edge as in the picture forwarded to Sykes after the holiday is, as with all hot tubs, typically from use with non pre-rinsed beachwear or wearing makeup or sun tan lotions. We supply robes and slippers for all adults advised to us as staying. We will address the quantity of clothing pegs and sealant around the shower. Thank you for the advice re the plates- we will buy new ones with a reduced rim to allow more placings per wash. The fifth dining table chair is in the kitchen but if a slightly different style. Thank you for this feedback and allowing us to correct. It is often the little things that make the difference and we will work to correct them. We’re pleased you liked the visitor information and enjoyed the stay. Hopefully with these changes any future stay would make you feel happier. Property Owner

"We had an absolutely fantastic holiday."
The cottage is beautiful and was immaculately clean. It has everything you could possibly need with the added bonus of a hot tub. Whilst in the hot tub, you have amazing views over the valley. Although there is no drive, there’s a car park and we never struggled to park which was initially a concern when booking. There was always spaces and so no need to worry. The furniture was comfy and there’s some amazing views across the valley whilst laid in bed. Also lots of wild life to watch out of bedroom windows. Lorraine the owner is lovely and we had a drink together when she brought some dressing gowns for hot tub. Lots of places to visit and lots of takeaways which deliver. Would definitely recommend this cottage and we will definitely be back.
Thank you Lindsay for your lovely review. You will be welcomed back anytime Property Owner

"This property is one of the best I've stayed at."
It was so well equipped with crockery and glassware - although the plates and dishes didn't fit too well in the dishwasher- there were only two of us so this wasn't a problem. The cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived and the owners had kindly left milk, butter and bread plus a few extras which was a really lovely touch. The beds and pillows were very comfy. The hot tub was superb and the towelling robes were a bonus. Contact with the owner was excellent and she left her number if we needed it. I wouldn't hesitate to book again next year.
Thank you Lindsay, so glad you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

"Stayed in this property for a few days."
It is a really lovely cottage in a beautiful village. Inside, everything is finished to a high standard and organised in a really easy way to ensure maximum comfort. There's endless choices for walking routes that are suitable for most. It was frozen underfoot for me but I would expect to get muddy in warmer months! The property owner offered great communication before the visit and was available for advice throughout. I would definitely recommend without a seconds thought.
Thank you for your lovely review, we hope to welcome you again soon Property Owner

About the location
WINSTER
Bakewell 6 miles; Matlock 4.5 miles.
The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village there is a well-stocked, community-owned general store incorporating a Post Office. There are two pubs, both serving food and traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. The Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, with bike hire available, both lie less than 5 miles from the village, a wonderful base for exploring the Peak District.
