30 Customer Reviews

  • "Lovely place, everything very good until we had an issue on the last evening."

Gas issue of which hasn’t been resolved to our satisfaction and we’re still awaiting owners response to Sykes. Was happy to leave a very good review upon resolution of our issue but after over a week no response has been received. No gas or hot water on our last evening and last morning. Ruined the end to our weekend away. Unable to cook breakfast or shower before we left. A small amount of refund/compensation we feel is not out of order to request. Working in customer service, a complaint can be dealt with speedily to provide a good outcome for all. However to ignore, does not help anyone.

Good morning Mrs Bell. We are sorry for the issue that you had whilst at the property. This transpired to be an issue with the sensor rather than an actual gas leak, however we do understand that this disrupted your last evening at the house. We have not ignored your complaint. We have been in discussion with Sykes cottages and are awaiting their response to an email. It’s disappointing therefore to see that you have already posted a review when we are awaiting Sykes, whom we will chase up today. Property Owner

Where you’ll be staying

DRONFIELD

Chesterfield 6 miles; Sheffield 7 miles.

Dronfield is a Derbyshire market town with a history dating back to before the 1086 Domesday Book, and has a number of 12th century buildings which are still in existence. The town has a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants and also a modern sports centre, and is surrounded by wonderful Peak District countryside where the walks are asking to be explored. Dronfield is situated between the Peak District National Park and the city of Sheffield while close by is the historic town of Chesterfield which is most notable for its famous crooked spire of St Mary and All Saints Church. The impressive Damflask, Agden, Dale Dike and Ladybower dams make for an interesting afternoon's ramble, while the attractive village of Hathersage (thought to be the inspiration for Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre) is also within easy reach and is home to a selection of shops, pubs and inviting eateries, plus an outdoor lido. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, whilst the historic and ever popular town of Bakewell and the rest of the Peak District, are within a short drive.
