  • "The property served our family party group well."

The rooms and main living areas were very clean and all well stocked with amenities. We made good use of the garden as well as enjoying a great woodland walk recommended by the owner. With 10 of us and a small fog, we always had space for ourself. And we left an item behind which Ian the owner very kindly found and returned to us.

We might well return in the summer.

  • "Lovely spacious and well equipped property in a wonderful setting."

We had a lovely stay and I do appreciate the efforts of both Sykes and the owner of Brook House to try and rectify the issue of the heating, which wasn’t working properly on a very cold weekend.

  • "Brook House is a lovely place to stay for a large family."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Was very homely and cosy. We enjoyed sitting in the orangery overlooking the garden and watching the wildlife. The sitting room off the kitchen was perfect for playing board games with the kids. We even got fresh eggs, cucumber and tomatoes from the neighbour. Thank you for an enjoyable weekend away.

  • "This is a lovely and large house that easily accommodated our group of eight."

The rooms are very comfortable and well furnished. The kitchen is very well stocked with utensils, pans, crockery etc. It’s in a good location for short local walks or for exploring the area. We were there in April and did manage to sit outside as the garden gets the evening sun and would be wonderful in the summer. The owner was very helpful and responsive when we were staying, replying quickly to any questions. Definitely recommend.

  • "A lovely spacious house."

Lots of places to break off into for a larger group. Beds very comfortable. We walked to the local pub....the route we took was about 2 miles but lovely quiet country lanes...very friendly and currently doing Sunday lunches. Your quite isolated if you don't want to get your car back out so plan for that but the area is beautiful. We would definitely return as a group of friends again....really lived the house.

  • "This cottage couldn’t have been more perfect for our little holiday, it accommodated myself and 5 teenagers who loved having the space to spread out in and chill, the garden was lovelier than illustrated and the location was secluded and just stunning, with a working water mill up the road, and apparently a resident Beaver dwelling on the banks of the stream running alongside the cottage."

If you’re looking for a period home, full of character, quirkiness, low beams and a really homely feel, then Brook House is your place. Ian the host could’ve have been more welcoming too…… AND……. A great place to play Hide & Seek…..

  • "Beautiful house and garden in a lovely quiet area."

We were slightly unlucky to time our stay with roadworks which closed the road outside the house but the workmen were quite happy to let us in and out! Fantastic place for a family get together. We had 8 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. So good to have dining and sitting areas to accommodate everyone. Pretty garden and the stream at the side was not a problem as it was the other side of the driveway where our cars were parked. Lovely woods and fields for the dogs just a 5 minute walk away. Highly recommended!

  • "Lovely holiday location for two families."

We had a great week. Only suggestions would be an outside light covering the patio, and making the keysafe easier - it was very stiff.

  • "Accommodation was comfortable and well equipped."

Good size rooms for extended family party. Small problem with no hot water one day but matter promptly dealt with when reported. Brook House is an excellent central point for visiting places of interest in the area.

  • "We rented Brook House for a whole house self catering break and it was perfect for two families of four."

It is a lovely characterful house with lots of space. The kitchen is very well equipped, the dining table is large enough for a big party and there are lots of comfortable sitting areas. The bedrooms are lovely and very comfortable. The garden is beautiful and great for dining al fresco (a new parasol for the table would make it even better!). The garden is dog secure. There is a stream that our kids enjoyed playing in but younger kids would have to be watched as it is easily accessible. We would definitely stay again.
