  • "We waited some three weeks to write this as we left very upset and did not want our emotions and feelings to prejudice our review."

Our car bogged down in the deep gravel, we moved it the following day. Six wall hooks is not enough storage for five nights stay. No inside foot mat, changed muddy shoes outside in the rain. Fold out dinning table not fit for purpose as it hits the wooden loft ladder. Ate all meals on our lap putting all beverages on the floor as no table. Watched five days of iPLAYER, no terrestrial channels due to location, we do not have Netflix or Sky accounts, No microwave listed in description but really missed when not there. No side lights or lampshade, kept loft light on as downstairs ceiling lights far too bright due to low ceiling and white walls. After two nights in the loft we slept on the sofa-bed, we felt it too risky reversing out of bed with 3' headroom in the dark to negotiate a 9' ladder to go to the loo whilst half asleep. If your partner goes to the loo at night chances are you will be awoken. 'Sofa-bed' is lumpy, bumpy with stains and extremely uncomfortable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On our last day we awoke to find the hob, oven and radiator had lost their programme, we informed Louisa and her husband came to assist. He was wonderful, boiling our milk and reassuring us he would fix whilst we were out walking. He explained power cuts were frequent and this was most probably the cause. Whilst walking we received a random PDF file from Louisa for a LAM3410 oven and hob stating, 'hope this helps'. We explained her husband was resolving the issue and without any fact finding or investigation we received upsetting and confrontational texts stating we had locked it, we had used it all week and previous guests had managed to use them properly for two years. We explained Louisa's husband stated it was a power cut but this was ignored. We stated we had been hill walking for six hours and would have no cooking facilities on our return. We had to trawl though eighteen pages of text to find out how to unlock the hob before we could start cooking. We also received a text saying 'I hope the oven is working as you haven't said otherwise'. Due to the power cut the oven showed 'STOP', at 9pm we were downloading a Lamon3410 oven PDF, we fixed this at 10pm. We texted Louisa saying it would be nice to meet before we left to resolve any issues between us but we never met our host or received the courtesy of a reply. Our check out time was 10am but we left at 08.40 as we just wanted to leave. On returning home we finally contacted the Lamona service helpline who confirmed a 'LOCK' and a 'STOP' on both appliances at the same time would be the result of a power cut and referred us to the youtube channel below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_jTeLXvG0o&t=3s The property affords a wonderful location and view, unfortunately the novelty of this soon wears off when one has to stay for five nights.

So sorry to hear this feedback, unfortunately I was only made aware of the Hob on your 5th day and up until then everything had worked fine for you. If you had communicated the others things I would have done my best to help and explained how things worked. On the day the hob didn't work in the morning myself and my husband did our best to sort, helping you heat your milk and asked if there was anything else we could help with, your text message on the day at 3pm when you returned advised me that the hob was working fine, again its unfortunate you didn't communicate anything else to me. Your other comments are disingenuous, Sykes photos and description of the Cuckoo Nest are accurate so that guest know what to expect. Again I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy your last day but I always here to help and support my guest as best I can as long as its communicated to me. Property Owner

  • "On arriving there was no door mat so dirt was being taken inside as decking hadn’t been swept ."

We was lucky to have a couple of good days weather but unfortunately the cushions on the outside furniture were wet. We managed to dry them out and later used them on the sofa which we found uncomfortable and could do with replacing. The cleaning wasn’t up to the the standard as before. Inside bedroom window it was very dirty and had cobwebs on the inside and outside.

Many thanks for your feedback. unfortunately the outdoor furniture if the cover blows off while I have guests are in its difficult to know, if you have advised while you where here I could have provided you with some more. The location is private and in the most beautiful landscape and natural surroundings cobwebs come daily, I pride myself in removing all inside ones but I don't touch the outdoor ones. Im disappointed you didn't find the cottage as clean as last time but again if you had made me aware I could have sorted this for you right away and cleaned the window and removed cobwebs. There is an outdoor mat and shoe rack provided but I will make sure there is an indoor. available. Property Owner

  • "My 15 year old daughter and I had a wonderful time here."

Hosts were very welcoming. Balloons and a cake was left in our cottage as warm touches for my daughters birthday :) Space under the sofa and in the bathroom for storage. Hot water is short in the mornings so we'd just brush our teeth with cold water and use the hot water for our face which wasn't an issue then shower as per se so don't take it as a negative. This is a small cottage but perfectly ideal for our stay. The views were SO beautiful. Sheep's, ponies and cows just in view of our cottage :) We had a evening of Netflix so we opened up the sofa bed, bought down the king-size duvet and pillows and relaxed. It's very homely and alot of essentials. I don't have anything negative to say if I'm very honest and we'd definitely come back here. I went back home very rested :)

Peaceful & beautiful surroundings. A wonderful greeting from Louisa, so friendly. The cottage has all you need. Note: the bed is super comfy with wonderful views but you do have to climb up a little ladder and keep your head down! Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "As in previous reviews the location and views from the property are very good, also the property itself is nice, however my concerns are the lack of Facilities and the price for the property."

For just a few £££'s more I could have had a detached 2/3 Bedroomed House/Cottage, whereas this property is Very Small, not sure how you would fit in a Cot as well? Facility wise it is a bit sparse. If you plan to Fry some food forget it as there is no extraction available, so I'd avoid that, also there is no Micro-Wave, which is strange these days. If you plan to stay for a week then be aware that there are no storage facilities for clothes or even for food, although you will probably be eating out? The Hot water for pot washing only last a couple of minutes before it goes cold. To watch TV you have to keep removing the ladder out of the way. The bedroom doesn't fit my description of a bedroom, it is basically a mattress on a loft floor, no cupboards or drawers or mirrors also very little headroom, about 2', so it's a "crawl" to get in and out of bed. The upper "bedroom" is not suitable for anyone that might have disabilities etc. due to having to climb a ladder to access the mattress. The lighting is very bright, so a Table Lamp would be helpful for nighttime. We never got to me the hosts, so I can't comment on that. I know this is a negative review, and I'm sorry to leave one, but people should be made aware of the limitations that they will encounter. For me this was booked on the "Spur of the Moment", so I guess I'm partially to blame for not reading the comments etc. If you are just doing a 1/2-night stay, then this would be ideal, but anything over, in my opinion, would need a bit of consideration.

  • "The house is incredibly cute, clean and tidy and in a lovely setting."

The outdoor decking is really nice and you can watch the sheep and horses. I felt really cosy in the bed up the little ladder. I wouldn't recommend sleeping up there if you're tall or after a romantic weekend, due to ceiling height

Hi thanks very much for your feedback. Hopefully as the bed is a king size and Ive had guests at 6ft 2 + this is more than enough room to enjoy yourself plus there is the fold down bed downstairs if more suitable. Hopefully see you again Louisa Property Owner

The accommodation is small but cosy, with a lovely kitchenette and bathroom. You get amazing views from both downstairs and the bedroom. If the weather is kind there is a great outdoor decking area complete with outdoor furniture, fire pit/BBQ. It’s a very secluded, peaceful place to stay yet you are close to many attractions like Chatsworth House, Bakewell and Matlock.
