"A lovely cottage, perfect for us and our two dogs."
Very friendly welcome from Lois.
-
"A lovely,cosy cottage,tucked away near Ashbourne."
Easy to access all areas of Derbyshire from there, great dog walking on the old airfield just outside the farm, and above all very relaxing and peaceful. (Just a shame about the weather when we were there but you can't control nature!). Unfortunately don't know how long the cottage will remain as the property was up for sale when we were there.
-

"We loved our stay and it was great having the trampoline and swings right outside the front door for my five year old grandson."
Also the enclosed rear garden for Molly.
-
"Lovely cosy little cottage in a beautiful rural setting with plenty of walks right on the doorstep."
Cottage was clean, well furnished and equipped with all we needed. A little on the small side for 4 adults but we only stayed for 2 nights so this was manageable. Bit of a struggle to get checked out by 9.30 and would have appreciated this being a bit later.
-

Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Hoping to return in the future. Recommended!
-

Cottage is in a beautiful setting and can walk the dogs from the door. Loads to visit plenty of National Trust properties within a short drive and lovely walks. Lovely cooked breakfasts at Fairways garden centre /shop just a short drive away.

Plus, had all the essentials you need for a short stay.

"Had a lovely couple of days at Church Farm cottage."
Location was beautiful and quiet. Lois the owner was very friendly and very helpful. The cottage was very cosy with everything we needed. Good garden for the dogs and an extra field as well. Will definitely be back hopefully with better weather.
-
"Lois was extremely helpful and friendly, nothing was too much for her."
The very hot water is dangerously hot !!!! The flags in the garden are very slippery when wet.
-
"A beautiful location and a friendly owner who introduced herself on our arrival."
The cottage was perfect for dog owners due to the garden. Perhaps being able to access the property earlier would have made our stay better. At 4pm in the Winter months, the daylight is going and there’s nothing to do apart from stay indoors.
-

"Lovely cottage in an ideal position."
Everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The owner very welcoming and helpful. See you soon.
-
"Generally a comfortable stay, but the layout of the bath and fixed screen meant that the shower was inaccessible to someone with arthritis."
We feel that the motorcycle racing circuit ought to be mentioned (Sunday was very noisy) and it should be noted that the nearby pub appears to be permanently closed.

"Lovely cottage and a great place to stay."
Very friendly welcome, and very helpful owners. Location is brilliant for exploring the Peak District, and cottage location on the farm is great. Ideal cottage and location for dogs. Will certainly stay again!

"The storage heaters in the bedrooms were switched off on arrival and did not give out any heat until the following morning."
That first night the temperature outside was below freezing and I had to wear socks and a cardigan in bed over my pyjamas. This experience put a damper on the holiday, although it did warm up the second day.
-
"Lovely place to stay, we did get a bit chilly at times, but that was due to the change in weather, and a couple or drafts in the property, but the log fire made it cosy in the evening, very welcoming host, and our 2 dogs were quite happy."
-
"Lovely cottage on a lovely location."
The mattress is hard but apart that I'd come back any time.
-

"Stayed at cottage 6 years ago and enjoyed it so much we wanted to return."
Well situated cottage to Ashbourne and other villages and towns and local walks. Very dog friendly and cottage is lovely and cosy. Owner and family were very welcoming as well as the local pub just up the road. The pub also welcomes dogs and even has a owner and doggy night for food. Will definitely stay again. My only regret is I forgot to leave a comment in the visitors' book.
-
"Lovely cottage with all the facilities needed."
The owner was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Lovely walk through the stables to the race track especially when the weathers not good. Loved the individual enclosed garden with extra space in the shared garden. Had a lovely week.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay at Church Farm Cottage and visiting the surrounding countryside and South Peaks/Dales which it is ideally situated for exploring."
There was a warm welcome from the owner on arrival and some good advice on local walks etc. The cottage was comfortable, cosy, clean and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The enclosed gardens were ideal for our chocolate Labrador and the best we have experienced. There are good walks right from the front door, through the yard and onto the fields beyond. A short walk away is the Shire Horse Pub that is dog friendly and serves good pub food. Ashbourne also had many dog friendly pubs that also served very good food. We enjoyed our stay so much that we will be booking to stay again next year. Mike, Jan and Poppy.
-
"The cottage was excellent in every respect - clean, comfortable, well-equipped, peaceful, well located for touring the Peak District etc."

"Lovely cottage, excellent value and a great area for walking."
Much less of a tourist honeypot than the Peak District proper - Staffordshire Way and Limestone Way were real finds.
-
"Nice welcome from the owner when we arrived."
The kitchen was well equipped. The lounge had a nice open fire with a bucket of coal and a basket of logs to get you started. Everything you needed for a weekend away.
-
"Cosy quiet relaxing any one wanting to recharge their batteries this is ideal."
Lovely country walks and pretty villages around. My 2 dogs loved it .
-
"A lovely cottage in a lovely location."
Fully equipped, and the open fire was a real treat when the temperature dropped and the snow created a beautiful winter wonderland in the village and surrounding countryside. We highly recommend this dog-friendly cottage.
-

The floor was uneven in the single bedroom ,and had to put a book under the foot of the bed ,Both beds were really hard ,and very hard to sleep on ,And I found on taking sheets of the bed ,I found the mattress had passed it's time as the springs where coming through
-

"The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed."
The garden was safe and secure for our two Beagles. The owner was very friendly and helpful yet left us to enjoy the surroundings ourselves. Baby Ducks, dogs, horses and a Peacock were regularly in the yard. Bliss. The bed was very comfortable which is important, especially after a day of walking with the dogs.
-
"The property was lovely and perfectly situated to explore the Peak District, garden was great and perfect for a barbecue."
The owner was lovely and helpful and on hand to answer any questions, great walks straight from your front door. Would definitely return.

"A lovely, cosy cottage in a beautiful location."
We loved having a duck nesting under our window and the visiting peacock who peered in at us in the mornings. There are lots of lovely walks straight from the front door for anyone who loves walking or who has a dog. We felt very welcome and hope to stay there again in the future.
-
"This was a lovely cottage in a beautiful area."
It had a well stocked kitchen and a nice, secure garden which is always useful when you have a dog. The owner was helpful, friendly and available when we had a query. We particularly liked the situation of the cottage as we could walk into lovely countryside from the door and there are lots of places to go and lots of local footpaths. Our only concern were the two single beds which weren’t comfortable and were squeaky. Maybe near the end of their lives.
-
"Comfortable cottage, well equiped, plenty of walks direct from the cottage."
Lady owner very friendly and helpful. The Shire Horse pub just a short walk away also very good and friendly, excellent menu.
-
"No very good accommodation very friendly owners"
-
"Only problems were it was very cold on the first night."
Could maybe do with putting heating on before guests arrive when it’s cold and the hot water was not good either. Other than that it was great, clean, friendly host and very cosy. Perfect for our family.
-
"We use Sykes because we take our 3 cats on holiday with us."
This cottage provided us with the tranquility in its remote location, safe countryside for the cats to explore in and owners who understood our needs and accommodated us perfectly, Located between Ashbourne and Derby the cottage is an ideal base for exploring the Peak District and Staffordshire.
-

"We had a wonderful week in this clean, comfortable cottage (party of 3)."
We had 2 greyhounds with us that we aren't able to walk off lead so the secure garden with high hedging/fencing was ideal for them. Mrs Blake was extremely welcoming and helpful and the cottage location was perfect for many local attractions. We hope to return. Thank you for a great stay.
-
"Lovely time at the cottage and found hosts easy to talk to, would have liked better weather but we suppose they can’t do everything haha, We enjoyed local eateries and the fact that within a short distance we could stock up on necessities."

"The cottage was a true home from home."
The owner and family was so friendly and helpful. It really is a great base for the Peak District. It has some lovely views and walks right outside your front door.
-
"Stayed in the cottage just for a mini getaway in the middle of March."
The description did not disappoint. Directions were great and just off the A515. Location was brilliant for the local pub, local walks, a trip to Dovedale, Dimmingsdale walks and a trip into Ashbourne for tea and cake while I left hubby to watch the last day of the Six Nations Rugby!!. Cottage had everything we needed. The enclosed garden was secure to let our dog run in and out. In the evenings when the weather turned very slowly and rainy we put the log fire on and out our feet up. Thank you to Mrs Lynch for making us welcome.
-
"Booked both adjoining cottages for a family New Year break , everything was perfect ,the area ,cottages and experience ."

"Lovely little cottage and Lois the owner is very friendly and welcoming."
It is a little hard to spot the turn off as down an unlit country road - just to be aware if you are travelling in the dark.
-

Each cottage I've stayed in has matched the description given . Church farm was ideal for me in all ways- clean and comfortable , open fire and lovely garden . Private ,yet with friendly help on hand if needed. Good location too , for exploring the Peak District and Chatsworth Estate etc . Ideal for dog- owners - walks from the cottage doorstep and no restriction for dogs at the nearby pub which served good food - ( for humans )!! Many thanks , will be booking again in the future

"Our daughter and her partner had one cottage and my wife and I had the other, so the communal garden worked perfectly for us and our dogs."
The garden was fully enclosed, which is brilliant to just be able to let the dogs out at any time. Loved the fire, with enough fuel provided for the week. Owner was great, and Ashbourne is on the doorstep. We love the area and the people, so thanks for a great holiday. Only problem is we need another one to get over all the walking!!

About the location
EDLASTON
Ashbourne 3 miles.
Edlaston is a lovely rural hamlet just 3 miles from the beautiful market town of Ashbourne. Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of a Derbyshire market town - there is a market place with stalls, an eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th Century, the town was a fashionable social centre and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don't expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by. Alton Towers is just 20 minutes away.
