• "The property was really lovely and we had a wonderful stay."

  Everything was clean and comfortable and we had everything we needed. The only minor downside was that the WiFi was very poor, luckily we didn't have to rely on it but anyone that did have to would have been a bit stuck.

• "The cottage is stylishly decorated and spotlessly clean."

  It is very well equipped the kitchen has everything you could need plus extras. Throughout the property you find extra touches such as charging leads hot water bottles and many other unexpected extras. It is as stated at the top of a very steep hill if your on foot it's a long climb back up from the local town. The benefit of being at the top of the hill is the lovely views from the front of the property and as you walk down into the town. Lovely hot tub which is undercover so great whatever the weather. The back garden is overlooked but this didn't impact on our stay in any way. A lovely welcome gift of wine and other goodies was a nice touch maybe a small bottle of milk would be a handy addition as the local shop isn't on the doorstep so would be nice to start you off. The bathroom towels were not the best quality plus very small, we only had 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel each for a week which wasn't great. There was only 1 toilet roll for a weeks stay which we found rather strange given all the other extras around the property. They had a new hot tub lid delivered at the start of our week they did ask if this was OK with us and we said it was fine. We thought it was actually being fitted and as we were out for the day it wouldn't bother us. However it was only delivered not fitted so this large item then remained resting up against the garden bench for the rest of our holiday not ideal. Our biggest and only real negative issue of the property is the way the heating is controlled. The temperature dial is in a locked box so if you want the heating turning up or down you have to contact the host. As you are on holiday you maybe having a lie in so not want it on first thing, then later in the day after bring in the hot tub you may want to take the chill off whilst you relax in front of the tv. You have no control over this you have to contact the host each time they are very quick to respond but we did not feel comfortable having to ask for the heating to be turned up/down each day to suit our needs therefore we regularly felt uncomfortable in the cottage for this reason only we would not return to the cottage

I must apologise again for the hot tub lid not being fitted once it arrived, it was such a large item we had to wait for 2 people to be able to fit it and dispose of the damaged one safely. Apologies also for the milk, I always place a pint in the fridge for guests but realised I’d left it at home once arriving at the cottage to service it. I will endeavour to replace the towels. We really wouldn’t have minded at all if you had requested extra towels or for the heating schedule to be adapted to suit your needs during the week, we live locally so these issues could have been dealt with immediately had you let us know. With regard to the toilet roll, one roll is provided as it is a self catering cottage and therefore it is anticipated that you bring your own supplies for the duration of your stay. • "We had the most lovely stay at 3 Sunnyside Terrace - perfect for us and our two little ones (aged 1 and 3) with 2 ample sized bedrooms and a bed guard, travel cot and high chair provided."

  The little details were so well thought out, right down to essentials being left in the kitchen and bathroom, the sweet welcome basket and toys and games in the conservatory. The hot tub was luxurious and a great extra, as was the fireplace. There is plenty to do nearby in Matlock, Bakewell and Chesterfield. We were sad to leave and will definitely be returning for another holiday in the future!

• "3 Sunnyside Terrace was a beautiful base for us as a family of three."

  It was well equipped and had all the modern features you might wish for. The kitchen was especially equipped well. It was warm and cosy. The hot tub was a perfect addition to the stay. Our points of feedback is the tv/remote needs looking at, it skips if you press the buttons too quickly and is frustrating slow and remote is sometimes delayed. We felt the written ‘rules’ in both the bedrooms for checkout procedure was a little overkill. Asking us to clean out the fire for example made us feel we couldn’t enjoy a fire on our last night as we were worried it would still be warm on day of departure so we couldn’t clean it. Personally I would remove the lists from the bedrooms and just have one downstairs as a polite reminder. The location being at the top of a steep hill could be added on description to make that part clearer. We had a lovely stay and would recommend the property.

  Thank you Caroline for your review and feedback. We have now added to the listing that the cottage is at the top of a hill. There is an ash bucket provided outside the front door for emptying the ash pan which should not affect anyone choosing to have a fire on their last nights stay, and something that has never been commented on before. We provide the ‘checkout guidance’ prompt upstairs as many guests do not read the welcome folder upon arrival or departure. I will check the tv remote as it may be something as simple as the batteries need replacing. As I always state to guests on arrival, please do just let us know if you need anything at all during your stay and we will do our very best to accommodate guest requests as we live near to the cottage. • "What a little gem."

  We came and stayed for 3 nights of the October half term. Two adults and two children. The cottage was absolutely spotless and comfortably furnished to a high standard. The owners have added lots of small touches to make it more homely. The weather was kind to us but we took full advantage of the log burner and hot tub. We would definitely recommend 10/10.

• "Fabulous clean, cozy and very well equipped for a home from home stay."

  Lots of lovely little thoughtful touches. Torches and charging points in bedroom & kitchen. Very comfortable seating and beds. Efficient log burner. Smart heating was great. Bathroom shower provided plenty hot water. Very good location for easy walking access for the more mobile or easy drive if not as mobile. Property has pleasant views from the front. The hot tub is a treat at the end of the day of walking and exploring. Sarah & James, were on hand if required and offered good prompt communications as we arrived and settled in. • "This was such a wonderful place to stay."

  It was a great sized property for myself and my husband and had so many great touches and additional extras (e.g. hot water bottles, games, Tupperware, oil, salt and pepper) which made it so easy to be away and help us out when we had forgotten things. The property was comfortable and quiet and we loved the hot tub (this is one of the reasons we booked here). We drove into Matlock for dinner and loved the Remarkable Hare and the Smoke House. Parking was also straight forward. Thank you for a brilliant stay.

• "We had a lovely time at no."

  3. It had more than everything we needed for a fantastic stay. It was clean, the bed was lovely and comfy and the wood burner added to the cosy feeling of the cottage. Location was good for walks into Matlock and Matlock Bath. The cottage was a bit cold when we got there but a quick phone call to the owners and the temperature was better (not particularly happy we couldn't control this ourselves and felt we weren't trusted to do so). The hot tub was the best we've ever used, (we have used lots!) big, lovely temperature, powerful jets and so sparkly clean. We used it a lot and it made our stay super relaxed. But if you want privacy this isn't the place for you. We were overlooked in the hot tub by both the neighbours, and the front of the house had nothing to stop people looking directly in to the front door and the big window of the living room unless you shut the curtains, then it was dark. All it needed was net curtains or similar. Because of the lack of privacy, we would not come back to this property.

• "The property was exactly as advertised, if not better!"

  It had everything you'd ever need in the kitchen and the owners have clearly put a lot of thought into the extras that make it a welcome break. The beds were comfy, rooms were clean, and the view out front is amazing for watching the sunsets. Pure bliss. Only slight issue was the chemicals must've been a little high in the hot tub as my bikini lost its colour!

The dispenser had cracked upon inspection, allowing more chorline to escape than it was set to. It was temporarily repaired and a new one is now in situ.   Couldn't be happier. Beautiful Cottage with stunning views at the front of the property. The cottage itself has everything you need for a stay.   Clean, comfortable and toys for the kids! Only thing I would recommend is having a dryer as there was no where to dry the clothes after washing them. It could maybe go in place of the dishwasher. But overall, a great experience!

  The cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need and is beautifully presented and spotlessly clean (the photos don’t do it justice). The welcome basket was a lovely surprise and most appreciated. Every detail has been through of, from towels for the hot tub to maps of the local area. We were a group of 4 girls who chose this rather than a spa break and we weren’t disappointed! We had a fabulously relaxing weekend - super walks through the fields and woods (and even up and down the hill into Matlock). We enjoyed lunch in Matlock and afternoon cocktails at the Monk Bar and a pit stop in the laburnum inn. Evening dips in the hot tub were a great pre dinner treat. Many thanks to Sarah and Jamie, we hope to return!

• "A perfect week in a PERFECT cottage!"

  Beautifully clean & very comfortable throughout. The log burner & hot tub are amazing. Everything is ' First Class '. The owners live next door but are not intrusive at all. They answered the one very small query I had very quickly. The cottage is very close to the lovely town of Matlock & close to other places of interest.   Very warm, cosy and welcoming. The owners made sure we had everything we needed for a special weekend away. The house is nice and modern, very well equiped. • "What a beautiful cottage in the most peaceful of settings."

  We absolutely loved our stay at Sunnyside cottage, Sarah and Jamie really went above and beyond and thought of everything and more you could possibly need for that relaxing get away. Only thing I'd say is the garden could do with a bit more privacy while being in the hot tub in particular and we found the mattress a bit uncomfortable. The welcome basket was such a lovely touch and one we all appreciated especially the bottle of bubbles in the fridge. The cottage was so well equipped, they have thought of everything. We would definitely recommend this place and definitely be back for another stay.

• "This cottage is wonderful both location and amenities wise."

  We weren't far from any of the places we wished to visit and therefore got to see and do everything we wanted. Took less than 5mins to get into Matlock. The cottage itself is so well equipped, there's nothing we had to think about. The cottage has been beautifully refurbished and is exceptionally clean. The garden is gorgeous and the hot tub is well maintained and a great added feature. Communciation with the owners was easy and any questions were answered promptly. We loved our stay at the property and will deifnitely be back. No hesitations at all recommending 3 Sunnyside Terrace. It's a hidden gem!

  The house had only been recently fully renovated and tastefully furnished. I was very pleasantly struck by the provision of everything anyone might require on a stay away from home. The kitchen was so well stocked with pots and pans, grater, glasses, large bowls, etc In my experience of other self-catering holidays I have never had access to such a range of thoughtful additions to make the place comfortable and a home from home.

• "Fantastic cottage and location."

  Arrived for a short weekend stay, to a beautiful sunset view opposite a lovely cottage, with a hospitable welcome pack from the host. The cottage is very clean, with loads of little useful touches, such as a guest book with loads of info as to where to go, shop, drink etc. Hot tub was superb, and if we could have had a stairlift from the bottom of the hill, we would have been in heaven! ;-)

• "We couldn't have chosen a nicer place to stay for our first time in this beautiful area of The Peaks."

  If walking up steep hills is not your thing, this property may not be for you - after eating and drinking in beautiful Matlock we welcomed the exercise and appreciated amazing views. We've stayed in tons of holiday lets and 3 Sunnyside is up there with the top of the list. Attention to detail was prevalent throughout. Thanks a million for providing pantry items, welcome hamper, fresh flowers, fizz, bathroom lotions & potions and all the cleaning products we could need. The covered hot tub was an absolute gem which meant we could make the most of it regardless of the weather. Updated pics on website to show the new roof would no doubt generate further bookings. Sunday lunch at the Thorn Tree is a MUST. Sarah and Jamie would make excellent advisors for other cottage owners with Sykes. We very much look forward to a return visit and have already recommended to others.
