The bedrooms were great as were the 3 bathrooms. I’d read some of the previous reviews so I was a bit worried before we arrived but we really had no complaints. It is right on the doorstep of Alton Towers and it couldn’t be any easier to walk across to get into the park . We would definitely stay here again to visit Alton Towers

  • "Pros: - Perfect location for Alton Towers."

We left the cottage at 9.50 and were walking through the park gates at 10. Also some nice pubs nearby that do good food. - Spacious living area and patio. - Nice and quiet, there was an adjoining cottage that shares a wall but we still hardly heard anything. - 3 bathrooms, all with showers, is very nice for larger groups. Cons: - The cottage could do with being cleaned a little better, the floor in the living room was very dirty and there was a good build up of dust in places. - The upstairs gets very warm and could do with some more ventilation/air conditioning. - Some of the facilities could do with a refresh. The TV is quite small/old especially for the size of the living room, the wi-fi isn't the best (mobile 5G was a savior here) and the fridge was making a dull whining noise a lot of the time that was a little annoying. The Patio door is also very sticky and needs a good bit of force to open it, we were a little scared we might break it with how hard you have to push it. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider again if we were to return to the area :)

  • "We had a lovely 3 night stay at Bunbury."

The description is accurate you really couldn't get closer to Alton Towers entrance! We had some really bad weather and heavy rain and being able to return to the property to dry off and warm up before heading back to the park really saved our trip from being a complete wash out! The property is nice and well equipped, the lounge is lovely with the big sofa and Woodburner, we bought some additional logs from the local shop. Having some mobility issues the downstairs bedroom and bathroom was ideal and 3 bathrooms in total is great. There were 6 of us but did feel it would be a bit crowded with 8 in the living / dining & kitchen areas... Only real downside is the beds weren't very comfortable! When we return to Alton Towers we would definitely want to book again!

  • "On arrival our thoughts were , tired furniture , but that’s ok …However , as the days went on there were a few issues we felt needed addressed : The radiator in the downstairs bathroom was so hot it was dangerous for children ."

( there was a note telling us we could switch it off , but we could not source where!) The kitchen could do with serving dishes , and general utensils eg pizza cutter , colander , . Decent oven trays . We were asked on departure , to remove bed linen from quilts , on doing this we were rather taken aback by the state of the quilts … lots of staining and one quilt in particular was torn … not nice

  • "Our stay at Banbury was excellent."

The hosts were very helpful before our visit & checked in on us during & after our stay. They were very kind in offering an extended checkout after we had a windswept day at Alton Towers. The property has everything you need to be a home away from home. Cosy and Quiet with great parking and you wouldn't find a closer accommodation to Alton Towers I doubt. We put of the wood burner and relaxed. We would love to return again soon!

  • "I can not recommend Bunbury highly enough."

I have been visiting Alton Towers for over thirty five years and you quite simply couldn’t get a closer property. Even if you stay on site ,or even park in the official car park, you still need to get the monorail - or walk for 15 mins to get to the gates. Bunbury is literally a five minute walk. The property is very spacious and was absolutely great for our group of nine. Three bathrooms ensured there was always a loo available. Sarah went above and beyond in helping us out when we were very late due to a dreadful journey. She stayed behind to accept our supermarket delivery. Thank you so much Sarah- that made all the difference to making the end of a very difficult day a lot better. And she was always available whenever I contacted her and was able to solve our queries. The fixtures and fittings are high quality - just a little tired- but that suited us absolutely fine with raucous children. The kitchen cupboard doors could do with attention and I would like at least one bin upstairs and a non slip mat for the bath but small niggles compared to our overall experience which was excellent. I would love to return.

  • "This was our second stay at Bunbury, perfect location for a visit to Alton Towers, quite literally a 5 minute walk to the park."

Also made use of the waterpark and crazy golf whilst we were here. Accommodation was welcoming and clean, bedrooms all made up on arrival and comfy beds. Kitchen has everything you need, could do with a little updating but all perfectly functional. The cosy log fire was a lovely treat after a long day in the park and we even got a takeaway delivered. No doubt we will be back here again soon.

  • "The location of this property was perfect but we did find the the place needed a good clean."

Shower heads were covered in lime scale, floors were sticky in places, bed sheets had stains on, cob webs and spiders all over ceilings and walls. There is also a constant loud noise in the master bedroom which made sleeping tricky. No idea what it was and couldn’t work out how to stop it. We were very happy with the location and the easiness of check in. We found the book helpful when it came to ordering takeaway and instructions on heating. Sarah was also brilliant when replying to emails and kind enough to allow us to leave our cars outside after check out. I would recommend this place to friends and we may even stay again, we just felt it needed a good clean and a bit of a refurbishment.

  • "Great location for Alton towers and other local attractions such as Dovedale and peak wildlife park."

Was like a home from home, large garden/lawn, lovely big dining table, most kitchen utensils/tableware etc provided, no teapot however host did provide one when requested. Lovely and light with sky lights in upstairs bedrooms, rooms a good size and bathrooms. Great to have a washing machine and easy to use. Beds and towels clean(although towels were a little worn). Would suggest beds are replaced one is clearly broken and unusable (not required for our stay), others clearly repaired. Upstairs double was not supportive for us and had move mattress to floor (inconvenient for week long stay, maybe ok for a few nights, but understand this is a personal thing). Large sofa which easily accommodates amount of people able to stay however all separate parts so would move easily when using. Wasn’t as clean as could have been, sweet found on floor in living room upon arrival, and false eyelash by sofa. Bathroom cabinet downstairs had marks inside from previous use from toothbrushes. Also no mention of air filtration system which was a bit noisy in upstairs bedrooms and a surprise when switches accidentally pushed, maybe provide information on this in welcome book as we didn’t really understand what it was or how it worked when we first arrived. Also could do with bins in bathrooms. We would return if we were planning to stay in this area again as it was so easy to get around and ideal for the theme park, just wish they had a proper pedestrian entrance.

  • "The mattresses on the beds need replacing as they dip in the middle and are uncomfortable."

The hot water/shower system needs up grading as it’s not man enough for 8 people and showers etc. Whilst the water was hot there is not enough pressure in the system despite the plumber taking a look.

Also a piece of velcro missing in one of the rooms for the velux blackout blinds which wasn't ideal and the rooms upstairs were really warm at night. The owner Sarah was very helpful allowing us to check in hours early. Only one slight error in the listing which states towels will be provided but none were. It didn’t worry us too much as we are all divers and took our own just in case. The mooing cows have it a real country feel. We will definitely be back.

8 of us were showing and washing up before her bed and nap times! The beds were broken on arrival, there were no towels provided.

Thank you for your feedback. We have stopped providing towels at the moment due to Covid 19 and asked Customers to bring their own with them. These can still be provided if needed. We were made aware of the issue on the Wednesday of your stay. We asked a plumber to attend the next day which they did. The occasional noise was resolved by a new valve being fitted and has not been a problem for guests since Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Property Owner

It is very well looked after clean and has everything you require for a stay. So close to Alton Towers entrance. We tried to book a room at the Alton Towers hotel but unfortunately it was full, we then found this as an alternative. Initially disappointed at not staying in the hotel our sadness turned to joy as in the end this certainly became a better option all round. Location was absolutely perfect for the reason we were visiting which was for Alton Towers! It really couldn't be in a better location. The bathrooms were very clean and modern and the bedrooms were comfortable. However, the kitchen was the only downside. The kitchen wasn't particularly clean. The kitchen utensils that we needed to cook and eat with (e.g. spatulas, knifes, forks, baking trays, chopping boards) needed re washing as some things did have food still on that hadn't been washed properly. Also, the drinking glasses weren't very clean either, most of them needed re washing too. I think it could just do with some new equipment in the kitchen for cooking as things were looking a bit used. This would not stop me booking again as the cottage is a very lovely place to stay. Perfect for a larger group of people... It was the only one I could find in the area to fit a larger group. We all had a great time and everyone said they would definitely return!! Thanks again!! :) :) x
