  • "We stayed at Bunbury as a group of 7, consisting of 2 adults and 5 children (aged 5-15)."

Pros - The location is great. It’s only a 5min walk to the entry gates at Alton Towers. - Bunbury is a spacious property, with a large green space out the back for kids to use. Cons - the beds are the most uncomfortable we have ever had the misfortune to sleep in, especially the downstairs double bedroom. The pictures on the advert don’t match the beds that are in the rooms.. There is plywood on top of the upstairs couch bed in order for it to remain stable. - the WiFi is terrible. The owner did try to help improve things when we arrived, but it was awful for the duration of the stay. - the kitchen equipment is in need of replacement. The dishwasher doesn’t clean things properly; the oven is very slow; the kettle is melted on the bottom; the fridge is too small for a house that can sleep 10 people; the only frying pan in the house is pretty much unusable; and there aren’t enough serving plates in the kitchen. - General maintenance of the house is very poor. Broken picture frames on the walls; cobwebs; light fittings broken or missing; front door top and bottom held together by an Allan key; bath tap in downstairs bathroom looks like it is ready to fall off; sofa is grubby and old; some kitchen cupboard doors are hanging off. - the log burner in the house has a crack and hole in the glass on the front. Can we use it?! We didn’t and would expect that it isn’t safe to use, despite no one telling us otherwise. - there are no child-lock / safety locks on the upstairs windows. - the upstairs velux windows do not have blackout blinds meaning it is very bright in the morning. The property is utterly over priced for the state it is in. It is brilliant, location wise, for Alton Towers, but is in a real state of disrepair. We would not recommend the property or consider staying here again. It looks like these issues have been ongoing for a number of years, based on the reviews, and have not been addressed.
