  • "We stayed at the cottage for 4 days while visiting family in the local area."

The location was perfect for us but also would be perfect for anyone looking to explore the local area. Cottage was easy to find and the owner had messaged earlier to welcome us later that day confirming details which was a nice touch. The cottage itself was great, good size for three adults that were staying, the beds were amazing comfy! Had some great nights sleep. There was also some lovely touches and welcome packages/sweets and milk in the fridge was perfect. In the summer it would be lovely to sit out on the back, listening to the stream but was lovely at night all lit up. Overall brilliant cottage and will 100% stay here the next time we visit family!

We really appreciate your excellent feedback, thank you so much! Looking forward to having you back when you’re visiting your family again x Property Owner

  • "A stunning cottage in beautiful surroundings with little extras that make you feel really at home."

The owners are really attentive and reply really quickly and the welcome package was a lovely touch. It had everything you would need and was spotlessly clean. The cottage is in a fantastic location with some fantastic walks and great local pubs. We were able to walk to other villages which was a nice change to always needing a car. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

  • "Without reservation I would recommend booking this property."

The owner has clearly worked hard to make sure that guests don’t feel like this is just a holiday rental; from the decor, to the facilities and the feel of the place, we all felt relaxed and at home in this cosy property and a lovely stay at this property. The location is also great for exploring the local villages and Dovestone Resevoir, with excellent biking and hill walking options straight from the front door, with shops cafes and parks close by. Perhaps most of all was the positive communication with the owner who could not have been more responsive, helpful and welcoming. We extended our stay we were so enjoying ourselves. Overall, we were sorry to leave and look forward to returning soon!

Thank you so much for your kind feedback! Please come again soon! Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay in Bailey cottage and would stay again."

The cottage was cosy and clean and very good value for money. Greenfield was a lovely village with good amenities, and just a few minute drive or 20 min walk to Dovestone reservoir which is beautiful! Just to note there is only street parking and spaces are limited at times. Also the back patio area is very small and is in a lane where people can walk through. Overall we had a great stay at this property.

Thank you for your kind feedback! I’m pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We know that parking right outside the house can be tricky at times, but next time you visit try either the main road or the parallel road called Friezland Lane. There’s plenty of parking available there and it’s just a few steps away. I hope this helps Property Owner

About the location

GREENFIELD

Uppermill 1 mile; Oldham 7 miles; Huddersfield 15.5 miles.

Greenfield is one of seven villages nestling amongst the 18,000 acres of moorland hills, open fields and scenic valleys that comprise the Saddleworth area. These Pennine villages have a wool spinning and agricultural heritage dating back to the Industrial Revolution, but today Saddleworth has evolved into an attractive South Pennine and Peak District National Park area with breathtaking views and glorious stone-built buildings. Greenfield is a thriving little village with a good range of amenities, and well placed to explore the South Pennine region. Greenfield has Saddleworth’s largest park in Churchill Playing Fields, which includes a skateboard park and tennis courts. It also has the canal marina and Saddleworth’s train station, which is an extremely popular stopping off point on the ‘Real Ale Rail Trail’ and offers easy access into Manchester for a city visit. Live entertainment at local pubs includes folk, rock, jazz and classical guitar concerts, and the ‘Off the Rails’ comedy club.
Saddleworth is home to a wide range of festivals and community events, the most famous of which is the Whit Friday Band contest, which attracts the UK’s and Europe’s top brass bands and was the backdrop to the film ‘Brassed Off’. Another well loved film ‘Yanks’ was set in Saddleworth and is also commemorated by a major weekend festival.
Almost every weekend features a visitor attraction, be it a canal festival, vintage car rally, the Saddleworth Rushcart procession, real ale festival, morris dancing competition or the well regarded Farmer’s Market. Nearby attractions include Dovestones Reservoir for boating and walks, and the Castleshaw Valley with an interpretation trail for a Roman fort, the highest of a series built on the Roman military road from Chester to York.
