"Lovely set up and facilities."
Nice walks on the doorstep. Very clean, friendly and helpful owner (happened to be on site every day through our stay).

"Just returned from a 2 day stay."
The cottage is basically OK but had some serious maintenance issues that ruined our stay: The boiler broke down on our first day so we had not heating or hot water. We ended up having to walk across a courtyard to another empty cottage to use a single bathroom rather than having two ensuites that we'd paid for. We reported that at 8am and it wasn't fixed until 5pm (after we chased again at 4:30pm) and it seemed that there is no emergency policy in place for 24/7 boiler/maintenance cover. The person we spoke to was not exactly sympathetic and it felt like we were an inconvenience, not a customer. Looking at feedback, it's not a new problem. We thought that was the end of it, but later that evening the electricity tripped and we lost use of all sockets and the kitchen. So, again we had to go over to the other (rather musty smelling) cottage to use the kitchen to cook dinner. At least the lights and heating stayed on! The owner did promise to give us a refund, which is good, although in all honesty just a bit more empathy would have gone a long way. She said that we'd have to apply to Sykes Cottages (via this form) to get the refund. Something else I didn't report at the time - there is obviously a rodent problem (although we didn't see any). There are mouse poison dispensers everywhere (outside and inside the property) to prevent this becoming an issue. However, it will be very easy for mice to get into the property as there is nearly an inch gap, for the full length under the front door! Presence of mice is normal out in the country, but what concerned me was that the poison dispensers in the front courtyard had not be loaded properly and I found my dog licking a poison block. Fortunately I saw this as soon as she had found it and she's fine, but these really should be pet proof! All in all this was a pretty poor experience, which is a shame as with a little bit of an upgrade (e.g. fixed heating system, new sofas) and better customer focus (e.g. providing a welcome pack with a pint of milk and providing better instructions to get there as the satnav postcode given takes you to the wrong place) it could be quite nice.

"Great location and very cute cottage really enjoyed our stay in Slipper Lo."
There was a lovely field at the back for the dog to run in and a great view of the northern lights. Pool and games room were very useful and a great addition. Just needed to time it right to have space. Outside the pool could do with a bit of tidying up . But bbq and chairs a great addition . Found the sitting room chairs a little uncomfortable. Overall a great stay and would book again .

"Absolutely loved the cottage, but on the first night we had no heating and an absolutely freezing cold shower (no hot water)."
This would be our only gripe. The following day we had both. Other than this we had a great stay and the beds were absolutely so comfortable. Everything was thought off. We could not find place mats for the table and the pepper grinder was broken do probably needs to be looked at. Other than this we would definitely come back to the cottages.

"Lovely cottage in an ideal location to explore the local area."
The pool and games room were the reason we booked here and we are glad we did. The pool was warm and private and despite being shared we had it to ourselves at times. The games tables were excellent for the children too and they have now taken a keen interest in table tennis! Lovely big field ideal for my dogs in the morning. The cottage was very comfortable with all the accessories you needed. Beds were the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept on whilst on holiday. The cottage was very clean and the area was quiet. The welcome items were much appreciated and having the washing up liquid was a plus - an antibacterial spray would have been handy too. The heating was excellent - so warm and toasty - especially the underfloor heating in the bathrooms. Overall a lovely relaxing short break and we are looking to book again later on in the year.
