• "This is one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in."

  The overall quality and condition of everything was excellent and the owners seemed to have planned for every eventuality. The garden was properly secure for our two terrier-sized dogs and one of them loved the view over the valley so much he would sit for hours just watching the world below him. The "wash room" at the back was invaluable for muddy dogs as well as human muddy boots and was an added extra that we've never come across before but was so useful and well equipped. The variety of walks from the doorstep was great (although you do need to like hills and a couple of challenging stiles). The views from the house over the valley were especially lovely as we were there during bonfire night/week so got a display just about every night. Views from the walks behind/above the house were spectacular over the hills/valleys. Inside the house was well layed out with every amenity we could think of along with very generous human and doggy welcome packs. Any more "rotund" guests may struggle getting into the shower in the ensuite but there is a full sized bath with shower over in the main bathroom. The extra note from the owner regarding not following sat nav directions to get to the house was a godsend. The turn that the satnav sends you down is extremely tight and steep and comes off a busy A road, although we did find that Google Maps sends you the safer route (from Holmfirth) as suggested by the owner. We would highly recommend Wells Cottage as a base to explore this area from and will definitely be back soon.

• "Had an excellent stay during our pilgimage to Last of Summer Wine town with visit to Museum, Sid's Cafe and Wrinkled Stocking cafe."

  Cottage exceptionally clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Super views. Need stout legs for walking but everything driveable - visited reservoirs, Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Holmfirth has wide choice of coffee stops, pubs, eateries and 2 super-markets. Would heartily recommend.

  Scenery is so beautiful and peaceful, so quiet. Lovely welcome gift on arrival, which was a nice touch. We enjoyed it as a family of 5 and would definitely recommend.

• "Beautiful cottage tastefully decorated and intuitively furnished."

  It has gorgeous views! Everything you could possibly need for comfort and necessity. The owners have definitely gone the extra mile and a half! The en-suite shower room was cleverly done, but would be a bit of a tight squeeze if you are a larger person. There is a second bathroom too. The road up to the cottage is on a steep hill and very narrow. we had a lovely stay and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the local area. The owners left a lovely welcome for us which we were very grateful. I would definitely stay here again- it was lovely

• "Wells Cottage was all we hoped it would be and more."

  It is beautifully decorated with a lot of thought put into what a guest, and and their family could possibly want. Lots of extras such as blankets for snuggling up on the sofa or for enjoying a cosy evening sat outside. The cottage was spotless and with every utensil you could possibly want. We stayed with our dog who was equally catered for with a dog basket, bowls and even treats. The added extras of milk, prosecco and chocolates too was very welcoming. The location is beautiful, quiet with plenty of assessable walks on the doorstep but also close enough to local pubs and a shops for convenience. We have booked and stayed in many accommodations but Wells Cottage will be up there amongst our very favourite.

• "We had a fantastic time at Wells Cottage."

  This beautiful cottage was extremely comfortable and very well equipped. Everything we needed was there plus more. The only downside was that we were sad to leave as this is definitely the best cottage that we have stayed in. The views were stunning and there was such a warm and friendly atmosphere wherever we went. Wells Cottage deserves more than the limit of five stars.

• "We loved our stay!"

  Cottage was probably one of the best we have stayed in with Sykes. Fabulous welcome pack, so clean and everything very high end. Views were glorious and doggies just loved the little enclosed garden. If I had to be really, really picky the only thing I would improve would be the outside seating. The little bistro sets were OK but if you wanted to sit outside for a while whilst enjoying the tremendous views they are not the most comfortable. It was a fabulous week, thank you so much.

• "We loved Wells Cottage."

  The photos and description were accurate and the arrival instructions were easy to follow. It's a beautiful tastefully decorated period cottage with well designed lounge, fully equipped kitchen, good bathrooms and comfortable beds. The owners have gone beyond expectations to thoughtfully provide everything we needed. There was a lovely welcome basket and milk in the fridge, the kitchen was fully stocked; often in rented kitchens knives can be awful and there's not enough pans etc. Towels in the bedrooms were generous and full size. We loved the lights in the lounge; it felt like staying in a 5 star hotel. We had everything we needed. There was even a programme for the local folk festival and a detailed house guide. When we had questions the owners were quick to respond. The view is wonderful. The only thing I'd say for anyone who has walking difficulties is; it's a very steep walk there and back into Holmfirth or to the pub! Thank you very much for a lovely weekend.

• "Lovely cottage with fantastic views of the countryside."

  Absolutely everything possible was provided by the owners. It was a little bit farther than we realised from a shop or pub but was still walkable. It might be an idea to provide a visitor Information book for visitors to comment, even if it is just for Interesting places to visit or where someone has had a good meal. We had a very enjoyable stay and really couldn't ask for more.

• "The cottage was maintained to a high standard and fixtures and fittings well thought out, and the welcome pack was excellent and well thought out."

  Very comfortable with lovely view's. Parking was off road and a good size, directions to the cottage were spot on. We are on the large side and the on-suite was difficult to use, but again kitted out to a high standard.

It was well-loved by all of our previous guests. There is also an additional good size bathroom which I hope was a great benefit to your stay. • "This cottage was so cosy and beautiful."

  Everything we needed was there clearly labelled. There were some lovely touches with décor from local shops tagged that we later explored. A touch of Easter decorations made it very seasonal. The beds, blankets and fireplace made for a extremely comfortable stay. A thoroughly equipped kitchen. This would be perfect for other seasonal breaks. The area surrounding is lovely and we found lots to do with our 6 year olds. We can't wait to return and do some more walks with them as they grow. Lots of local small businesses and different food places in town. The owner was so helpful when we needed to ring for a small issue, that was sorted very smoothly.
