  • "Property was lovely and spacious."

Hot tub outside was excellent. Only issue was the second slab near the wood burner which was coming in the way as people passed along to come to the dinning/kitchen area. one of us tripped twice.Otherwise it was a enjoyable holiday.

  • "Plenty of room."

Comfy beds, large dining/ kitchen area. Fantastic views and close enough to amenities. Maybe switch around the table and sofa chairs in the dining area if possible. Great holiday

Thank you so much for the generous and thoughtful comments. It’s an interesting idea to switch the area around. (Of course the wood burning fire is the reason we have the sofas there! Less relevant in the Summer!) Property Owner

  • "Overall we had a lovely holiday."

The property is in wonderful countryside with fantastic walks on the doorstep. Vicky was very helpful and gave us lots of information on the area. The dairy and annexe are very well equipped and we appreciated all the maps provided. The beds were comfy but the pillows are very bulky and firm, so bring your own if you prefer soft pillows! There are a couple of laminated information sheets but a comprehensive house file is needed for detailed information about how things work in the house, where to find things, nearest shops etc. We had a few plumbing issues which meant three of the showers were out of action. The maintenance man came twice but seemed unable to fix them during our stay.

Sorry to hear you had some challenges with the showers. Especially that the shower heads were too high. We will look at lowering them. Thank you for the feedback. Hope to see you again. We do have leaflets around the house but recommend to give Vicky a ring / message if you’d like any help. You are on holiday after all! Property Owner

  • "A great weekend break in The Dairy."

Terrific location and a very well-equipped and well maintained property. Would certainly recommend. A few minor points for the owners (we have had a holiday rental on various sites for 25 years). Price seemed to be top-end at £1900 and the other properties at Lowfield Farm were not occupied, so flexible pricing might help with occupancy numbers. A Book of the House would be a really useful addition with how everything works, local facilities, public footpaths etc in one place. The laminates were ok, but not comprehensive e.g. told to switch off hot tub, but not where (we worked it out, but better written down). How to switch off outside lights ? On a timer, but on all night ? Couldn't find oven-gloves ? Sure they must have been there somewhere. Missed the instruction to strip bed linen and place in bathroom - laundry bags would help, and save servicing time. Wooden garden furniture showing its age. Hope this helps. We intend to be back as it was a memorable place to visit, and Youlgrave is a great village to hang out in.

Thank you for your kind review and helpful comments. We think there must be a fault with the outside lighting.. should be on a timer / sensor combo. Will be looked into asap. Thank you for flagging. (Though clearly we are also trying to make sure there is enough light at night to be safe and avoid any slips or so on. In the winter it gets very very dark!) Oven gloves we replace on a regular basis so that’s a bit odd. Sorry. Any queries or niggles like this please feel free to call Vicky who is at the next door farm and here to help. Property Owner

We had an amazing time. The house, the weather and seeing the northern lights made it a very special birthday weekend. The house was fully equipped, clean and comfortable. The hot tub was amazing and enjoyed by everyone. The house was perfect for a big family get together. General enquiries were responded to very quickly and Vicky went above and beyond! Thank you so much. We will be back!

  • "The Dairy and Annex were wonderful and we reqlly enjoyed our stay."

The only comment we had is the layout of the living area in the Dairy. Whilst the old church pew is lovely, it dominates the room and restricts the living area for a large group. We ended up turning the dining table around and moving the setties into 2 halves to create more of a social u-shape seating area around the fire, but this was obstructed by the pew. A shorter bench seat/pew for the dining table, allowing a c-shape settee area would be much more sociable for groups of 10, which isbwhat the cottage caters for. This was the only downside for a large group, everything else was perfect and our 6 group dogs loved the garden and house. The walks from the property are fab and we did several. A great place to stay with friends.

The accommodation was perfect. Very clean. Lots of space for all of us.The kitchen was so well stocked. Each bedroom and bathroom were beautiful. The cosy cottage next door proved to be very useful as an 'overflow' for fridge space etc as well as additional living/sleeping space. The location and surrounding area were amazing, even in wet weather! And the welcome pack is always a bonus. The Dairy is ideal for a large group of people.

  • "If you are thinking "far from the madding crowd", this is the place for you."

Technology (even for our adult children) took second place to the idyllic surroundings (including from out hot tub!!). Any minor niggles were quickly dealt with by the caretaker and don't worry if you collect bottles and recycling, these are collected routinely or with just a message. I couldn't complete this message without mention of the single line access to the property which we got stuck in and had to reverse on an upward incline; irritating initially but adapted by sending out a recce' team. Minor inconvenience for the pleasure of being here. In all, we loved this place, its character, the amenities and the surroundings.

  • "The Dairy was perfect for our large family group of 9 adults, two children and a dog."

I had messaged David prior to arriving and he had confirmed stair gates (bottom and top of stairs) high chair and travel cot. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and crockery and the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge worked well for us. One point of note for the owners - a washing line somewhere in the garden would have been useful as we had to drape washing over garden chairs and tables - noticed that farmhouse had a rotary line. Access to the property can be a bit tricky, especially if meeting a car coming in opposite direction. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

So pleased you had a good time and found the facilities up to your expectations. Very happy to add a clothes line - great idea. As to access. It’s a narrow lane with stone walls either side. Most of the time it’s not a problem. But meeting another car is a pain as you say. Hopefully rare enough but I know it very well! Property Owner

  • "This was the perfect holiday accommodation for our family gathering to celebrate a 'big birthday'."

Ages ranged from 3 to 75, and we had everything we wanted. The views from the hot-tub were stunning, and the hot tub itself was hugely popular as the weather was cool, windy and wet! Plenty of space indoors too, and the charging point for our car was a great bonus.

Sorry about the weather - mad this year… but at least the hot tub is a reliable heat and good mood generator! Hopefully the sun is on the way soon. It will certainly be green and lush in the Peaks this year after all the rain we’ve had… really appreciate your visit and glad it all worked out (We’ve added lots of car chargers this year - nothing more irritating than not having one free… and to be clear. The electric is on us!) Property Owner

  • "We stayed at The Dairy the first weekend in March."

We were three families getting together to celebrate a birthday. We had a fabulous stay. The Diary is located in a beautiful part of the Peak District with a waking route on the doorstep. The Dairy has five lovely bedrooms, all en-suite which was perfect for our families. The open plan kitchen, dining and seating area was warm and cosy and very well equipped. We had some lovely meals sitting round the large table after a hearty walk. The hot tub was definitely a hit with everyone especially as it looks out across the valley. Would love to come back, explore the area more and stay at the dairy again .

Thank you for your lovely feedback and so pleased to hear you had a good stay. It’s something of a battle to keep things to a spotless standard given all the daily challenges but gratifying to hear that on this occasion everything worked well! Looking forward to your return stay. As you may know, the Cottage next door is now part of the Dairy offering another (sixth) bedroom and bathroom - and separate sitting room.
