"We had the most wonderful holiday in this lovely cottage."
It has everything you need and more. The welcome hamper was lovely. We could not fault anything and would definitely recommend this cottage for a relaxing stress free holiday. Many thanks to Lizzie
Thank you Sarah for such a charming review . We are thrilled your holiday was stress free and you had all you required . Do come again !! Property Owner

"Very comfortable and within walking distance of Ludlow town centre."
You would need to get the car out to go to the supermarket. Car parking all sorted for us and not far from the cottage. The bath could do with a handle at the end, just to make it easier for 70+ year olds to get in and out of the shower. You really do look out onto the river at the back - lovely in the evening with a glass of wine! Thank you
I’m so glad you enjoyed your time at Kingfisher, especially a vino by the Teme ! I’ll get the “ maintenance department “ onto the bath handrail upon changeover this Friday!! Property Owner

"Kingfisher cottage is a delightful, cosy cottage in a gorgeous riverside location."
We enjoyed eating outside overlooking the river. It's a very peaceful spot in a lovely town. There were no problems at all parking in the neighbouring streets, and it was so smooth organising the parking permit with the owner. The bedroom and bathroom are a good size - but taller people take care as the bedroom doorway is quite low! The kitchen is small but is good for cooking - there's no room for a washing machine, so take enough clothes (we're glad we read the listing in advance). We had a delightful stay with our dog in Ludlow, and would totally recommend this charming property.
Thank you so much for your generous review Phil and lovely to have met you all. It is glorious eating by the river on Otter watch. I’ve just looked up average male height in 1820 : 170 cm / 5’5” !! Property Owner

"Exactly as described with a beautiful view of the river at the back of the property."
The owner communicated well and you could tell they really cared that we enjoyed our stay, which was really appreciated. The walk into the very centre of Ludlow for the shops was very short, and car parking near the property was easy to find. We both enjoyed and would recommend this cottage.
Thank you so much Chris for such a charming review . We love that our guests enjoy the cottage and lovely Ludlow as much as we do . Property Owner

Thank you Jane for your kind review. So glad you had a wonderful time and found nothing lacking! Property Owner

"On arrival we were hit by a strong pungent smell of damp and mildew which enveloped the whole of the ground floor."
We had to abandon our holiday on the second day the 18th August because the smell had got into our clothes, hair and we both developed a cough, it’s a health hazard. The property was not habitable. The property stands within a flood area and has been flooded a number of times in the past. The property is not fit to be used as holiday accommodation until the problems with the property are fixed. Lots of information on line with photos of the property and others. Ludlow flooding. Mr & Mrs Emms
Thank you for your feedback. Your husband phoned on arrival, confused with the location of Blue Zone parking. Information had been emailed to you when you supplied your car details. I met with both of you on Friday 16th Aug as we popped in to secure the drip tray that had come away from the fridge whilst I cleaned behind it earlier that day. I met your husband and offered to assist him with the remainder of your luggage, explained that you could use our driveway in our absence (heading to Holland) but to please contact me with any issues as we have friends/neighbours/Sykes cottage owners on Temeside available to help in a jiffy. Mid week it became evident that you had vacated the property without contacting myself or Sykes, when you did so by email, stating I was non contactable. "We looked forward to our holiday but upon arrival we opened the door and were hit by a thick heavy musty smell which was constant and never went away. It made us feel very uncomfortable also the stairs are very steep and cramped and not very accessible for people of a certain age like us. The shower needs a non slip mat and is awkward to get in and out of. We went home on the second day. Not suitable for older people. The parking is too far away. The owner is away in Holland" On being made aware of this I immediately spoke to Sykes from Amsterdam and took a phone call from your husband. I suggested that the "smell" may have been from the reed diffuser on the shelf as you enter the cottage. It could easily have been removed. The property description clearly states that it is not suitable for those with mobility issues due to the stairs. Had you looked in the only cupboard in the bathroom you would have found a non-slip mat along with a hot water bottle, cleaning products and spare loo roll. The closest parking is St John's Road opposite Temeside, less than 0.1 miles away. Ludlow is a medieval town not designed around motor cars. The property last flooded in 2020 prior to our ownership. It is a 200 year old mill cottage that backs on to a river! Having checked in with the guests that arrived 23/08, they stated everything was "perfect" so an " uninhabitable" house had miraculously rectified its damp and mildew issues, without intervention, between guests.... Problems cannot be rectified if we are not made aware of them during your stay or at least given the opportunity to assist. I suggest you read all information provided to you prior to your holidays to avoid disappointment in future. Property Owner

"Great place to stay."
Everything on the doorstep including a lovely river and stream passing the back yard. Highly recommend.
Thank you Heather. You can really enjoy the best of both worlds at Kingfisher: Town at the front, countryside at the back. Property Owner

"Lovely cottage in a great location with everything you need for a good stay."
The extra welcome touches were an added bonus as was the communication to ensure we accessed the property with ease.
Our pleasure Kerry. A fantastic weekend of music at the castle here. What a place Ludlow is ! Do come and enjoy it all again . Property Owner

"We had a wonderful time at kingfisher cottage , it’s a great place to chill and relax but also perfectly positioned to explore Ludlow Lizzie is a brilliant host , always there for any information, sorted out parking which was great and left us some nice local produce as well as essentials ."
The cottage has everything you would need and more. It’s spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We really enjoyed the back patio which is great to relax and enjoy the sunshine , while watching the local wildlife on the river . We couldn’t have asked for anymore at the kingfisher and we can’t wait to return.
Kenny it was a pleasure having you here. I’m fairly new to Ludlow and still find it so exciting. There is so much history visible from the back garden … Ludford Bridge being the location of the Rout of Ludford in 1459, the Horseshoe weir possibly dating to 1241, once powering 3 mills, the Old Ford crossing point and boat house for the ferry , the Old Bell House (1641 was the Three Crowns) . We are blessed! Do come again and enjoy . Property Owner

"We really enjoyed our stay at Kingfisher Cottage, very comfortable, clean and well equipped with everything you might need."
The location is perfect and the patio overlooking the river a real bonus. We enjoyed great food at the Charlton Arms just across the bridge. Short walk into town with great shops/market and Castle. I would also recommend CSons by the river, great food and amazing cheesecake.
What a super review , thank you ! We love Csons too & are looking forward to the balcony opening. Another good reason to return !! Property Owner

"A super cosy cottage with a lovely small garden by the river."
Easy to walk into town and visit lots of shops and eateries. The cottage was well equipped and tastefully decorated. A very comfortable bed. We really enjoyed our time there.
Thank you Julia for your positive review. We are so glad you enjoyed your visit to our little cottage by the river and our wonderful vibrant town. Property Owner

"The cottage was comfortable and as described by Sykes."
When we stayed in May there were roadworks going on outside the property so we were unable to open the window because of the continuous noise outside but this was not caused by the owners but we were not made aware of this as it may have affected us going to the property. Had lovely views over the river and we were able to sit out and enjoy the scenery. It would benefit from a hand towel in the kitche otherwise a lovely property.
Thank you for your feed back Joanne. We are so glad you enjoyed your time in Ludlow despite " the roadworks". Severn Trent are upgrading the flood drain in a long overdue effort to clean up our beautiful river. We are aware of the low level noise disturbance as they are RIGHT outside our house! However the benefit to the aquatic wildlife on the River Teme will be tremendous. It will certainly make playing in our Coracle and wild swimming with the otters a far more pleasant experience. "A little gem of a cottage in a perfect location."
Clean, well equipped and only a short walk from Ludlow Castle Square with markets, places to eat, shops, and unique architecture. The sunny courtyard a huge bonus with views of the river and wildlife. Good road links to the surrounding area. Owners welcoming & helpful with providing a parking permit which was a great help. We would love to return.
Thank you Jane for your cheerful and positive review. We are so glad you enjoyed Kingfisher Cottage , the beautiful Teme River and glorious Ludlow. We’d love to have you back !! Property Owner

"Really lovely cottage in a great situation by the river."
We loved the cosy feel of the place and especially the wood burner! The only issue we had was that the bathroom door did not shut/lock properly. Otherwise we look forward to returning, thank you for a great few days in Ludlow.
Thank you for your positive feedback Emma. We are so pleased you enjoyed Ludlow and Kingfisher Cottage. I'm sorry the door was an issue for you, had you mentioned it during your stay we could have taken a look in a jiffy ! We are local and more than happy to help. Property Owner

"A brilliant little cottage in Ludlow."
Perfect location as can walk into town, but it's slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the town itself. Parking wasn't a problem with using the permit. The house has everything you need and is lovely and comfortable.
Thank you Rachel for your generous review. I hope you enjoyed some sunshine overlooking the River this weekend and wasn't it wonderful to see the " hustle & bustle" of Easter around the market, castle and church? We are so blessed in Ludlow. Come back and visit soon! Property Owner
-
"Nice cosy cottage for two but don't expect to park outside, The owner does provide a permit for the surrounding streets."
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay Kevin and we are happy to arrange the parking permit. St John's Road is 0.1 miles from Kingfisher and safer than parking on double yellows! We are local and happy to help. Property Owner

"Our only criticism (unless we missed something when we made the booking?"
) is the stairs. It would have been good if it had been pointed out that the stairs are tricky for anyone with mobility problems. They were fine for me but my hubby has Parkinson's which affects his balance so they were a bit of a challenge at times. Having said this, it didn't spoil our holiday at all and we loved our week in the cottage enjoying the amazing view from the rear garden
Thank you for your feedback Gill which we take very seriously and I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay despite the stairs. They are featured twice in the photographs to give you an idea of what to expect and I have just spoken to Sykes who were due to have updated the website regarding this back in August .... There are some features in the mill cottage we simply cannot rectify. We wish you all the best for your next adventure. Property Owner

"Kingfisher was perfect for a short break, in walking distance of the town, so no need to drive, also fantastic that a parking permit was provided so parking in a side street near Kingfisher was great."
The cottage was very clean, comfortable and had everthing we needed. It was delightful as the garden backed onto the River Teme so very picturesque. Highly recommend.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback. Delighted you enjoyed your stay . Property Owner

"Lovely cottage, very handy to walk into Ludlow."
The courtyard is a sun trap and very relaxing listening to the river Teme. The one, very minor, negative I have is that you have to be very careful not to bang your head when going up the stairs! Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.
Thank you for your positive feedback and we are so glad you enjoyed the sunshine beside the river. Ahh the stairs! We do feature them twice in the photo's and leave a red warning in the info pack. A period design feature we learn to live with unfortunately. Good to know they didn't detract from your visit and we look forward to you returning in the future. Property Owner

"Cottage was lovely really enjoyed sitting in the garden watching the wildlife in the evening's very comfortable and in a really good area for visiting other tourist spots."
Had to leave a sealed rubbish bag and some recycling at the cottage as no dust bins and no information on where to recycle which we don't usually do. Would recommend to friends looking for a break in the area
Thank you for your positive review. We whisked away the rubbish/ recycling on change over as there aren’t options for bins at the front of the property . We look forward to you visiting again . Property Owner

"Kingfisher cottage is a real little gem."
Well positioned just 5 minutes walk to the town centre . Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The rear garden overlooking the river is a real haven. We throughly enjoyed our week and would definitely book again. Alan and Yvonne Clarke.
Belated thanks for your such positive review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in Ludlow and you found the cottage to be both clean and comfy. We'd love to welcome you back in the future. Maybe a winter break with the fire lit? Regards. Property Owner

"Kingfisher Cottage is a gem of a property: a quiet oasis with the suntrap garden overlooking the river and the large comfortable bed in which one can fall sound asleep."
It was a delight to stay at Kingfisher.
It really was a pleasure to have you stay & I enjoyed our architectural chats ! Property Owner

"We had a lovely weekend and were very impressed by the cleanliness and comfort of the cottage."
The courtyard is a suntrap and we spent a lot of time out there watching the wildlife and being serenaded by a song thrush. As described, everything in the town was accessible on foot and there was something going on in the castle square each day. We really appreciated the lovely welcome pack that was left for us. We look forward to returning to the cottage.
