  • "Very nice cottage."

Everything you need (apart from a freezer). Great area for walking. Great pub.

  • "The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped."

It is in a lovely setting, and we also enjoyed the very local country park and the playground in the village.

  • "We had a wonderful week in this comfortable, well furnished, quiet, and well situated cottage."

Great place for walking, running, cycling, and exploring the region and all it's attractions. Bathroom, bedrooms, lounge and kitchen all very nice. Good to have safe place to store bikes. Some constructive feedback would be that the lack of a freezer (or freezer compartment of a fridge) and a DVD player may be an issue for some visitors. Thoroughly recommend this cottage in a quiet location.

  • "Pros: Overall this is a lovely cottage, very cosy with plenty of nice walks nearby."

The Wi-fi was good and the TV fine for a holiday cottage The kitchen and bathroom are both perfect for the job, with a few tweaks (mainly information/instructions) this would be 5 stars all round. We would quite happily stay there again Cons:The property is listed with off road parking, there either isn't any or there is no information in the cottage as to where it is. To some people including myself this can be a factor as to cottage choice. The cottage was cold on arrival as the central heating was off, but once we put it into operation the cottage soon warmed up. Unlike previous holiday cottages there were no logs/kindling/firelighters provided for log burner (expected a few and only a small amount of coal) but we brought our own logs expecting supply of possibly one nights worth to some this would be very disappointing. The toilet flush button is in a stupid position behind the toilet seat, obviously only minor but is just oversight as the bathroom is most spacious.Pros definitely outweigh the cons which could be easily corrected.

  • "Our stay at Hobson's Cottage was adorable and so enjoyable, this is a 12th Century cottage large oak beams every where which added to the quaintness we loved it."

It was well appointed and tastefully finished, the downstairs bathroom was superb, all mod cons where they could put them, the welcome treats were gratefully received. Kitchen well equipped, Location just brilliant easy access although the parking was a free for all we managed. Local pubs frequented, food well accepted, under 2miles for a local grocery supplies and more public houses. As far as we were concerned, there were not any down sides or desires and we would return again to explore more of the beautiful Derbyshire Dales.

  • "Third bedroom is not safe for children or elderly people as there's a 12inch step and absolutely nothing in the room apart from a very high bed which slopes badly."

The addition of a small side table and lamp or even a wall mounted battery operated lamp would help. A simple shelf with hooks underneath would enable some personal belongings to be stored. Stairs were steep. These were the only drawbacks. We couldn't find information on recycling or bin use and resorted to asking passersby. Apparently the owners who live close sort it out which would have been useful to know. The rest of the cottage was well appointed with dishwasher etc. Bathroom is modern and has a good shower. The front garden was lush and a patio set outside enabled us to enjoy it. There's a fabulous pub next door which does great food. Recommend booking as it gets busy and occasionally, especially weekend, there's a bit of noise from the beer garden. It's a lovely cottage in a lovely village.

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay at Hobsons Cottage, it was lovely and well presented."

The welcome items in the kitchen were appreciated. Suggestions/criticisms: - no info on refuse collection or recycling - a spare front door key would have been very useful - the tin opener is broken

  • "Lovely cottage which included essential items with a little basket of food and milk in the fridge."

  • "This cottage is beautiful."

It's very clean and has everything that is needed. The pint of milk and loaf of bread were a lovely touch. The quaintness of the cottage is a definite positive and on the whole it was very comfortable, although all three beds have incredibly loud springs to the point it woke our youngest child every time he rolled over. The step out of the third bedroom is also a foot high so take care there. The cottage is also in a lovely location with some beautiful walks and an easy drive to tourist attractions. The only big problem we found is that it isn't off street parking. The reason we didn't give full marks for accuracy of description is that it is on road parking and spaces are limited. The only other feedback we'd give would be for Sykes - emailing in the middle of the night is not the best time to remind us we're going away in a few days or to request feedback.

  • "We have had a great stay over October half term."

The cottage is beautiful and the traditional beams and wood burning stove were a great touch. We enjoyed the woodburning stove on an evening. There is a local village pub a few doors away but I would advise you book in advance as it is always busy. The finishing touches in terms of the well made beds with matching cushions and fleece throw were lovely. Very clean on arrival and with a lovely welcome basket waiting for us. Overall a great stay and would highly recommend.

  • "There were a few items that we would class as usual essentials when staying away that weren’t provided."

(I.e) toilet rolls, washing up liquid, tin foil, etc. Outdoor space was confusing, as we were under the impression there was garden space. Front path leading up to the house needed the surrounding flowers/bushes to be trimmed back as quite tricky with a buggy. Also, not much space to store the buggy indoors. However, we had a great stay in the cottage - great location for seeing the beautiful sights of Derbyshire & the local pub is worth a visit more than once!

  • "We did enjoy our holiday but we did find the 3rd bedroom not ideal."

It was very small, had no furniture in it and the person that used this room found it very uncomfortable, hot and not fit for purpose. In fact the person using this room ended up sleeping downstairs in the living room. It is more of a box room than a bedroom. It may be OK for a child but not for an adult. This apart we had a great time. It was a beautifully furnished cottage (bedroom withstanding), in a lovely village and close to all amenities.
