  • "Very comfy and clean cottage in excellent location."

Amazing bathroom. Good WiFi. Good instructions in the property and good to have two keys. Bowling Green pub 100m away has a good community atmosphere and beer / pasties / basket food on Thurs - Sun (closed other days). Community run shop has good produce within 5 mins walk. Parking is limited but okay if you are happy to walk down to the Main Street and park at far end of village.

  • "Hi, had a lovely stay at Jasmine cottage, beautiful characterful cottage with comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom."

The only improvement I would make is to have a small welcome pack on arrival, with the basics tea, coffee, sugar & pint of milk. There is a shop very close by but if you arrive late it's a drive just to have a cuppa after a long drive

Hi - thank you for your review and feedback, I’m glad you had a lovely stay at the cottage. Regarding the welcome pack, I have taken this on board and will be leaving some tea/coffee/milk sachets as soon as I can get this arranged. Unfortunately it’s quite difficult to leave a full welcome pack with many of my guests only staying for 2 nights - this leads to wastage. I do however understand that being able to make a cup of tea makes all the difference. Thanks again for your stay. Property Owner

  • "Gorgeous Cottage in a lovely village."

Spotlessly clean and comfortable. We were only there for a long weekend and would love to come back to really enjoy the property and the area. A pint of milk would have been appreciated but the village shop provided everything we needed.

Thank you so much for your feedback - I’m pleased you enjoyed the cottage and the surrounding area - and I do hope you can return again soon. The village shop is a great asset to the village but I understand it would have been nice to have a pint of milk etc as already there. I’ll take that on board and arrange for future guests. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "Cosy cottage, kitchen and bathroom nice, stairs to top bedroom may be a little steep for elderly."

Cottage would benefit from a smaller more useful fire in the lounge.

Thank you for your feedback and I hope you did enjoy your stay in Winster. I have noted in the description about the narrow stairs to the top room but I will check that it is clearly stated for future guests. Regarding the fire, the open inglenook fireplace is one of the main features in the living room but I appreciate it may not be as quick and easy to use as a smaller stove may be. I will take on board your feedback and ensure future guests are aware of the thermostat location for turning up the heating if required. Property Owner

About the location

WINSTER

Bakewell 6 miles; Matlock 4.5 miles.

The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village there is a well-stocked, community-owned general store incorporating a Post Office. There are two pubs, both serving food and traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. The Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, with bike hire available, both lie less than 5 miles from the village, a wonderful base for exploring the Peak District.
