"Thank you for letting us stay in your charming cottage."
The cottage had everything we needed. It was very clean and comfortable and well located for a number of walks and the centre of Matlock. We loved the quirky staircase/landing corridors. Although there was access to and from the property at the back we only used it once. It looked like it was rarely used because there was ivy and bramble growing across it and we had to cut it before letting the dogs up the steps (not a real issue though). We did feel a bit odd walking across the neighbour's lawn and decided just to use the front in future. :-) We liked having the board games to play on an evening and although there were some bits missing from monopoly we still managed to enjoy the game.- We can't fault anything but if we had to be picky there are a couple of health and safety points: the banister on the stairs needs fixing to the wall and the light that is mean to illuminate the step coming through the gate needs fixing to the fence because it was just on the ground and not working. It would have been a less stressful start to the holiday if we had received the key code sooner than 5 mins before we were due to leave. It does state on the website that the code would be received as soon as the final payment is made, which it was, in August! I do take some responsibility for this because I should have chased it as soon as I'd paid. The freezer would benefit from a thorough clean; there were bits of food left in the bottom of one of the drawers and I would not like to use the ice cubes that were also in there. A nice added touch would have been a welcome basket, e.g. milk, eggs, bread, coffee, biscuits, wine. It would have looked a nicer welcome than a basket full of sachets that looked like they'd been left by other people. We found the bin situation confusing because of the different recycling rules in Matlock so, for us Northerners, it would have been better if the instructions were accompanied by a photo of the bin. We also heard the bin collection lorry but our bins weren't taken out. It stated in the information pack that the neighbours would do this so we're guessing it will go out for the next collection?! The black lidded bin was full by the time we'd added to what was already in there. These are all minor points so we hope that you will take them as friendly criticism and that is why I've given 'Facilities and Maintenance' the full 4 smiley faces. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend your cottage.

"Riber View is a beautiful little cottage."
It’s clean, comfortable and incredibly well appointed. The parking space is quite tight but easy to manage if you take your time or there is ample free parking close by if you’re a nervous parker like me. Simone and Darren are great hosts and Riber View is a perfect base for exploring the area while the garden is a real sun trap throughout the day. Highly recommended.

"It was a lovely cottage and we enjoyed our stay."
The parking was a bit tight but we were aware of that before we booked. The only thing l was concerned about was no mattress or pillow protectors. The mattress was fine but the pillows were rather stained.
-
"Hi we throughly enjoyed our stay at Riber Cottage the cottage was soooo cosy and comfortable loved the separate bathroom and shower rooms."
Our dogs terriers x2 were happy and secure in the lovely garden. Beautiful view of stunning Riber Castle from the master bedroom bonus, plenty to see and do in the lovely Derbyshire villages. Short walk to the two local pubs worth a visit would love to stay again soon thank you x
-
"Really lovely well equipped cottage, cozy and comfortable."
The garden was perfect for us and the dogs and a super location in Matlock. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back to Riber View again.

"Location details of cottage spot on."
Parking no problem for one car. Next was to try and locate key box, as details not sent by owner and e-mail to owner went unanswered. Eventually found it and went in. Despite being advised that cleaning company would be in touch for bed set up preferences, no contact was made and the beds were made up as two super king size although this was not a problem for us. As previously mentioned by previous reviewers the cleanliness of the cottage was not what I would call up to standard. The louvre shutters and window sills were covered in dust, dirty shelves in the fridge, dirty inside microwave, bread crumbs left in toaster, congealed food found on plate, frying pan and saucepan and not sure when the oven was last cleaned. As for the condition of the frying pans, I have thrown better ones out. When we got the hoover out it had been left completely full, not sure when it had last been emptied. On emptying boy did it have some suck, what it cleaned up was certainly not all ours, So to sum it all up, it could be a lovely little cottage to stay in, conveniently located for sightseeing in the area, but it has been severely let down by the cleaning company who it would appear make the beds, put in bin liners and top up the complimentarys and if everything else looks okay, leave it.

"The only problem we had was with the cooker not working."
I put some food in to cook, checked 15 minutes later and oven still cold.Tried a different setting, the grill setting and managed to cook our food.Cottage really lovely, bed so comfortable, very pretty garden, shame weather wasn’t warm enough to enjoy it

"Beautiful cottage in a great location."
Had everything we needed. The parking started as a little tricky, but once mastered, it’s fine! My only critical feedback would be, there were a few areas that needed more of a deep clean (behind/underneath furniture, radio in the kitchen etc.) However, would definitely stay here again and highly recommend, thank you!

"Lovely cottage in a great location and excellent information from the owners with regards to locating the property and parking advice."
Wonderful views from the garden which is beautifully maintained. The beds and furniture all very comfortable and very well equipped. Sadly a couple of negatives which didn’t spoil our stay, but the general cleanliness does let the cottage down and the living room rugs smelt very strongly of dog, which wasn’t pleasant for my little niece when playing on the floor.
-
"This is one of the best properties that I've stayed in, from the Sykes website or even AirBnB."
And I've used Sykes properties quite a lot because they have a good variety of properties. Top notch location and really close to the town centre. The only negative is with the neighbours at number 83. They are not very inviting to holiday guests.
-
"The cottage exceeded our expectations."
It was spacious and we loved its quirky layout. It was very well equipped. The little garden was a haven for wildlife, with far reaching views. It was a peaceful haven, and yet all facilities were within walking distance (but be mindful of the very steep uphill return from Matlock centre). It was great to have parking on site or on the main road. And it is possible to fit 2 small cars in the cottage parking space (we had a VW Polo & VW Fox). We would definitely recommend the cottage as a good base for the area.
-
"Riber View is in a great location, we travelled by train with our small dog."
The taxi driver refused to take us with the dog but we got the X17 bus which dropped us at Duke of Wellington. We did some lovely walks to Riber Castle/Hall, Lumsdale Valley and Matlock Bath. The property has lovely views and has everything you need as a self catering property.
-
"Such a lovely quaint cottage."
The description was spot on and travelling to Matlock town centre was basically a stones throw away. There is a steep road getting to Riber cottage and the short gravel road to it can be easily missed if you're not careful. The photos provided to find the cottage were however spot on. Those two points however did not spoil our break as we fully enjoyed our stay. We will not rule out having another break at Riber cottage. Our three night stay felt like a week's holiday so very pleased.
-
"Such a lovely property and very tastefully decorated."
Every utensil provided. The pictures on the website don't really do it justice and we were pleasantly surprised on arrival.
-
"Beautiful cosy cottage especially in the middle of a storm."
Loved curling up in front of the real log fire. Really helpful instructions re arrival, parking and getting in. Kitchen had everything you could need loved the wine glasses. Would definitely recommend Thanks for a lovely stay.
-
"Great cottage for taking dogs, wooden floors and a door to stop them going upstairs."
Warm and cosy, very well epuipped. Huge beds with lovely bedding. Great directions from the owmer. Would highly recommend
-
"Lovely little cottage with views from upstairs over Matlock."
You may need to take your own logs if using the log burner. We weren’t given access to the wood shed but didn’t use it anyway. There was every utensil you could ask for in the kitchen but thought a bigger swing bin would be better as it’s only a small one. Although it is advertised with 2 parking spaces we only just managed to fit 2 cars on. If you were parking 2 big cars you wouldn’t get them on. We did find it difficult to find also even with directions! All in all it was comfy & relaxing in my opinion.
-
"The property is is a good location and is generally comfortable (beds, sofa’s etc."
) but it is tired and neglected. The pictures on the Sykes listing are not a true representation of how the property looks today. The wood worktops in the kitchen around the sink are black with mold, the floor is warped from water damage, and the dishwasher did not work (we had to go out and buy a plug for the sink so that we could wash up) . The outside table is rotten and needs replacing and the property generally needs a lick of paint to freshen it up. The described parking is only really suitable for one car (unless your travelling in two smart cars!) but there was plenty of free street parking available locally. It was also disappointing that there were no instructions within the cottage telling you local information, how to use the heating or the fire should you need to, or where the local emergency hospital, dentists and vets were should you need them. All in all whilst we made the most of our stay I won’t be returning and I wouldn’t recommend this property in its current state.
-
"Disappointed that the dishwasher was leaking and this clearly was not the first time it had leaked as you could see the damage that it was causing to the Kickboards."
We did email the owners to notify them . The bed was so comfortable ,had a fantastic nights sleep. Was easy to miss the entrance to the cottage lane especially being on a hill.
-
"This was the perfect cottage for our family of four."
We loved the location - walking distance to shops, pubs and restaurants (there's a bus back up the hill if you prefer!) and rest of the Peaks are an easy drive away. The cottage is cosy, comfortable and clean and we appreciated the facilities like the washing machine and parking. The view from the garden was incredible too. Thank you for a fab stay!
-
"Cottage was a great location for Chatsworth house and had clean comfy beds…."
However the toilets were not pleasant as not cleaned since the last person paid a visit for a no.2. Wish I had taken a photo but my sister had just gotten on cleaning it. With a bit of bleach doesn’t take much to be hygienic and clean. The floors needed hoovering (but the vacuum is powerless) and there are dead bees on the stairs/floors and window sills plus lots of spiders and cobwebs in the rooms and on the shutters. The kitchen work tops need a good deep clean as do the kitchen drawers plus obviously the bathrooms too. Suggest you employ a better cleaner as having to scrub the bathroom before use is not our idea of the best start to a weekend away. The garden is clearly maintained well, and although it wasn’t the best weather so we couldn’t sit out there, there is clearly pride with the outside but not so much the inside. Such a shame as little things and details make such a difference. Apart from that we had a lovely stay.
-
"Yet another lovely stay at riber view cottage great location and very comfortable will stay again"
-
"Very comfortable and exactly as advertised, very convenient for the local area visits."
-
"We had lovely stay at this cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing stay ..."
We had lovely stay at this cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing stay we left the parked up all week as bus stops close to cottage and ran regularly to the bus station to visit other places would definitely stay again
-
"Pretty cottage."
Access not easy but this was in the details Very surprised that there was no hairdryer at all which meant we had to buy one. The lighting in the living room could be better. The towel rail in the shower broom didn’t seem to work. The door catch to the spare bedroom needs attention as it wouldn’t open when we initially arrived meaning quite a lot of juggling to release it. Other than above it was well appointed.
-
"Excellent location great for walking and close to pub."
House very comfortable and warm.
-
"Lovely place to stay - very comfortable and ideal location."
Would book again.
-
"My son, Dughter-in-law and I enjoyed our week it Riber View."
The cottage was very nice. Odd steps around in unexpected places but when we read the history and it's age that explained it. We were disapointed that there was no hairdrier. The beds were excellent and very comfortable. It is stuated in a lovely area with good shopping and places to visit.
-
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
One major negative for us is that the sofa’s are SO uncomfortable! It wasn’t a pleasant thought when getting back to the cottage after being out all day walking the dog knowing we had to endure getting ‘numb bums’ On a lesser note, the shower could do with some mould remover around the seal. And when removing all the bedding on the morning of departure I noticed a few of the actual pillows are stained. Made me feel a bit sick to be honest especially in this virus ridden age! BUT the property, the position, the outlook was amazing.
-
"The location of this property was fantastic and the instructions received from the owner regarding parking was perfect."
We had no problems finding it or parking in the somewhat tricky parking spaces. The house itself was exactly what we wanted - two large bedrooms, a great living/kitchen space and two bathrooms! A couple of things that we do feel needs improvement is the general cleaning of the property. The bed linen was clean and fresh, plenty of towels etc but it was just the general cleanliness. The windowsills and shutters were full of dust and cobwebs, the mat in the lounge needed hoovering on our arrival, we found little pieces of Lego left lying around, the trays and things used for the oven were filthy. When reading the welcome brochure/instructions it said that the rubbish would be taken away - it wasn’t. The outside dustbin was overflowing when we arrived so there was no room for our rubbish. Just little things that began to add up. Perhaps we are now at the end of the summer season but we did feel that the house was beginning to look a little tired and is in need of a lick of paint. Overall we had a lovely break and this property would be perfect after a little refresh and the cleaning company taking time to do a more thorough job.
-
"Absolutely fantastic holiday."
The cottage was as described and extremely clean upon arrival. We had a small problem with the beds not being set up for the number of guests, but as soon as I phoned, it was dealt with and sorted within an hour. I would highly recommend Skyes Cottages and will be using them again.
-
"Such a beautiful cottage, well equipped, comfortable and great facilities and welcome package was a lovely touch."
Would highly recommend. The cottage is very central to alot of the major sight seeing venues. Plenty of up to date leaflets are supplied in the welcome folder along side a little history of the cottage.
-
"Smelt of wet dog."
Oven in need of a good clean shower room toilet seat broken and the shower drain was almost blocked. The front door lock sometimes jammed locked. Very run down. A PITY with some tlc would.d be a nice place to stay
-
"The shower room toilet seat broken the grouting in the shower needs doing not very nice."
The lighting in the lounge very poor. Parking nothing to be done but very awkward.
-
"Fantastic cottage, very comfortable, well equipped, spectacular views, parking a little tight,if you follow instructions from the owners soon get the hang of it."
Nice gesture of milk, wine and basket with biscuits etc. Can highly recommend this cottage, really enjoyed our stay.
-
"Lovely property with a smashing garden just right for our two four legged ..."
Lovely property with a smashing garden just right for our two four legged friends, Everything was clean and tidy and very well equipped for all our needs, Could not have asked for anything more, Only negative was the recycling bin was full up when we arrived so we could not recycle anything and had to use the household rubbish bin for everything
-
"Riber View was a delight, very comfortable and cosy."
Kitchen was very well equipped....and milk and biscuits was a nice thought. Did find car parking was iffy when we arrived.....neighbours didnt help much either!!!!! We also found you had to be patient with the key....Did not find a hairdryer either.... as I have short hair it wasn't a problem. Riber View is a lovely cottage...well furnished...bed very ...very comfortable...loved all the artwork..especially the one in the Bedroom with the very large bed. We had a fab few days...Heights of Abraham close by...several National Trust properties...also English Heritage.....especiallly Bolsover Castle....fabulous place for children of all ages. Kind regards, Dorne and John Nichols.

"We spent a great time in Riber View."
Cottage is fantastic, warm and very cosy. The whole house is stylish and feels like real home. fell in love with that Cottage and we have a hope to go back there again. View is amazing from the garden. Thank you xx
-
"I think the tap in the kitchen is connected up wrong regarding hot and cold."
Not a problem but worth swapping.
-
"Really happy from the service."
-
"We had a fantastic stay at Riber View for a week from 1-8 October."
The cottage had everything we needed. Beds were really comfy, and the cottage furnished to a high standard throughout. Admittedly the paintwork in places is tired and needs touching up, but do look past this - it’s cosmetic and not like there was any plaster falling off the walls. Parking was not an issue; we have a Vauxhall Mokka which fitted perfectly on the drive, admittedly a little tight but caused us no issues. The neighbour opposite with the bollards (who we’d read about prior to our arrival) did glare intently at us through her frosted glass door on our day of arrival to ensure we didn’t encroach on an inch of her driveway, much to our amusement. It’s almost like she was expecting us and perched ready to pounce. Forewarned is for-armed folks! Whilst the cottage is situated down a quiet lane, it isn’t really near to any shops; there is a One Stop, but this is practically down the bottom of the hill and quite a trek back up. Shop before you arrive is our advice; Sainsbury’s is only a mile away. Thoughtfully, there was a welcome pack left for us consisting of milk, tea, coffee etc., so we were well set. The views are stunning, and the cottage is well situated for main attractions. We will definitely look forward to returning to Riber View and this cosy little gem. Well worth booking and highly recommended.

"River View is a lovely cottage just up a hill from Matlock."
It’s very, well looked after and comfortable, with everything we needed for a few nights away. The garden was a great place to sit after a day out in the hills. A few reviews have commented on parking but it wasn’t a problem with a medium hatchback to get into the space at the bottom of the garden and unless you lack confidence reversing a larger car would also be fine. I would book Riber View again to stay in Matlock as I couldn’t suggest an improvement.
-
"I had a lovely time."
But if you choose to walk into matlock take an oxygen tank for the walk back its a pretty tough hill.
-
"Beautiful cottage in a lovely area, only downside very hilly, no trouble walking down hill but walking back a problem."
Also not enough wardrobe space for 4 adults.
-
"Within 24 Hours of us getting there, we had the neighbour from hell from house at bottom of the garden came round accusing me of knocking her bollard down in drive."
I Told her l did no such thing, after 20 min l walked away. Talking to next door neighbour, she told me she does this to most people who stay in cottage. Telling you this for other holiday maker's to be aware. One more thing we were told that there would be some work done on next doors house. Should not course us much disruption, loud was not the word music, shouting, cement mixers, thudding on walls dust everywhere. With the weather as hot as it was we could not take dogs out. We sat in lovely garden most of the day. But when all the work started that was it, we had to come home. Sorry to put all this but thought you should know. Apart from this we could not fault cottage at all. It had everything you could l want.
-
"Lovely dog friendly cottage."
The cottage was clean and deceptively larger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Two good sized bedrooms. The bathroom and shower room were clean and well fitted. The kitchen is a lovely space for meals in and is well equipped with everything you would need to prepare meals. The garden was well kept and a real sun trap when the sun was out. It was well fenced off so it was a safe space to let our dog out off the lead. We have a SUV and had no real problems reversing into or getting out of the parking space. Yes it’s a little bit tight but with a bit of patience and clutch control it’s preferable to on road parking. It’s a short walk down into the town centre but be warned it’s a steep hill to walk back up. We had a great time staying here and would happily stay here again. As well as recommend to family and friends.
-
"We loved out stay at Riber View Cottage!"
It was so cosy and quaint with beautiful views. The parking was quite tight (we drive an A Class) so anyone who isnt confident driver or who has large car would recommend parking on the main road (its a 30sec walk to cottage). There are lots of lovely places to visit nearby and we were never stuck for anything to do. Couple of lovely restaurants nearby also if you fancied a treat (recommend Stones & Remarkable Hare). Lady we dealt with at Sykes was really polite and helpful would highly recommend and we would certainly use again. Thanks
-
"Very comfortable stay in a well looked after cottage."
-
"A delightful little cottage, very cosy and comfortable, great location and extremely comfy beds!"
The garden was a great size and very private. We had a few slight niggles, no hair dryer, no iron or ironing board so we spent the week in creased clothes (at least nobody knew us) the cottage definitely wasn’t cleaned to a good standard, toothpaste around plug, under the kitchen table was filthy and the bathrooms had mould and mildew. Parking was fine for one car.
Many thanks for your valuable feedback, we are very disappointed that one of our properties has seemingly let us down and not provided you with the experienced that we had hoped for. We will be contacting the owner of this property regarding the cleanliness points you have raised. Just to note although the addition of a hair dryer and Iron would be good in this property, these items are not noted as being included on the listing. Property Owner

"Lovely Cottage well equipped."
Nice area thougherly enjoyed it
-
"Had an excellent stay at Riber View."
It is a lovely cottage with great modern facilities. The kitchen and bedrooms with en-suite are very nice. The location is a 10 min walk down a very steep hill to the town and would not suite anyone with mobility problems but is a good work out for anyone that tries it. The town itself is worth making the effort for with great pubs and resturants and taxis for that trip back if you don't fancy the walk. People have been critical of the parking but we had plenty of room parking a peugeot 208 and Aygo. You will only struggle with very large cars or can't drive very well. Had a great stay thank you.
-
"Vehicular access to Riber View is a little tricky."
It requires quite a tight reverse turn and the kerb is high. Just causes a little tension for the uinitiated ! The cottage was lovely and warm and welcoming. Very well equipped, beds and bedding excellent. The garden was very safe for our two small dogs which was a relief. We had a thoroughly enjoyable few days and would go back.
-
"No kindling, firelighters or matches for the fire."
Cleaning manager arrived with just kindling after my call to Sykes. Used plaster stuck to radiator in lounge. Pill on bedroom floor in one room, what looked like dolly mixture in the other. Thick dust on kitchen clock, crumbs on floor, dirty microeave...list endless. Left the second day. Sykes customer services terrible, did not manage expectations. Several operatives rude and dismissive. Cottage walls all marked with scuffs and fingerprints. Offered to send images to the owner, after receiving an apology, who failed to respond to my offer or acknowledge receipt of my offer. Parking terrible. Anything larger than a Skoda Rapid and you will struggle to park and navigate the track. Garden lawn bare, no grass in many places. Very, very stressful time for me and my 80 year old mum.
-
"We arrived and there was no heating on we contacted Sykes and the person who looks after the cottage phoned us ."
It turned out the batteries in the hive had gone so we took the ones from the two tv remotes and it came on. The cottage was beautiful and in a good poisition with lovely views . There is a pub 300 yards away up a steep hill but worth the slog, would definately return.
-
"Lovely spacious very well equipped and located."
Kind owner. Excellent communication
-
"Lovely little cottage and we really enjoyed our new year break here."
Lovely call from the cleaning service before we arrived to confirm details. And fantastic touch of basket with chocolate and wine included along with basics of tea coffee and milk Everything that you could need is in the property .... and I noticed that the owners have taken note of suggestions from previous reviews and added things to the cottage to make the stay even more comfortable. I can’t personally think of anything that was not provided. We loved the log burner which came in useful to warm us after some lovely local walks and despite the cold we also enjoyed our morning coffee in the garden. Driveway a little tight! We have a small SUV and we were only just able to get this on the drive ..... would not have been able to easily get another car on there too ....... but roadside parking wasn’t a real issue
-
"Cottage was very warm and comfortable in the cold weather."
The only negative, no egg cups!
-
"We had a wonderful stay at riber view."
.. there was everything you needed. The only complaint we have is... the rugs were full of hair. Would definitely stay again
-
"Lovely cottage very clean and tidy and milk in the fridge was very much appreciated as we arrived late in the evening."
Communication was great with a phone call to me the day before we arrived to check how we would like to beds set up. Location was great just a 15 minute walk into Matlock.
-
"Previous customers have commented on parking facilities and they are very tight."
If you have a large vehicle or two vehicles then this property is not for you. Also this property has lots os stairs and steps inside so don’t book if this is an issue. Lots of DIY needed. The door to shower room not good. Having said all this we enjoyed our week and found the stay comfortable.
-
"On arrival at 16."
10 the cleaners were still working we we’re asked to come back in half hour, that was fine considering they had some problems that day. The cottage had a strong smell of damp in the lounge but we sorted the problem with lots of scented candles, the kitchen was well equipped but every morning we had to wipe everything down because of slugs. The garden was just a nice size, the beds were comfy. The cottage could have been a lot cleaner. We did enjoy our stay and Matlock...
-
"Riber View was the best holiday property I have ever rented."
The cottage was walking distance from the town centre and country paths, it was completely equipped with high quality kitchen appliances, and had a very stylish decor. Parking was easy, the cottage was clean and the owners had provided every item we could think of.
-
"The cottage is excellent, the area, the neighbours, we found were all very nice and friendly."
However, when I rang up to pay Sykes the balance for this holiday on the 3rd of June, I did not like the rude and argumentative people I spoke to. A straight forward call to settle up with Sykes took nearly and hour and left me feeling very disappointed with how I was treated. We have been very good customers renting cottages from Sykes for many years sometimes booking three holidays in a single year. Still, you have had our money, I don't suppose you give a toss!
-
"The parking was very difficult a larger car would not be able to use the space far to tight ,plus the curb you have to pull car over needs to be addressed."
Shower cubicle has limescale around the base of cubicle.Hoovering in the lounge wasn't addressed food under sofa, cooker needs cleaning mould in corners in ensuite bathroom.
-
"Lovely cottage, central to where we wanted to be."
Nice and quiet
-
"Lovely property, we had a fantastic stay."
Very clean & comfortable. Like a home from home. Ideal location for exploring the beautiful area, lots of walks within a 10 mile radius. This was our 2nd stay at Riber View & we will probably be back!
-
"A stunning cottage with excellent decor."
A really comfy place to stay with great facilities. We had a great time. Beautiful walks and lovely pubs near by. A really dog friendly area as well.
-
"Charmingly appointed and very cosy."
The cottage is well located for exploring the Peak District and we should be happy to return.
-
"We had a wonderful week in February in Riber View, amazing weather which allowed us to enjoy the lovely little garden with fabulous views."
The cottage is well equipped with very comfortable beds and good furnishing, the parking is tight but when you get used to it, we managed to park 2 SUV’s, the hill up from Matlock is a great workout very steep. We would recommend and stay here again if in the area.
-
"Lovely presented and maintained cottage in a good location."
Excellent WIFI for a non-city location. A lot of thought had been put into the cottage and it felt very welcoming.I would recommend that a television be put in at least one of the bedrooms so parents can have some peace for a couple of hours. A short walk downhill (uphill back) to the town centre and also a short walk to the country.
-
"Excellent directions, pictures to help with landmarks and very well explained parking, location of cottage."
Beautiful cottage and very clean. Lovely.
-
"We had a lovely stay at Riber cottage."
The cottage was really well equipped, clean and spacious. We really appreciated the lovely touches - bottle of wine on arrival, milk, teabags and biscuits. The secure garden was perfect for our dogs too.
-
"A fantastic cottage with lots more space than expected."
My only complaint is that the rugs in the living room were in grained with dog hair so a good clean was needed, this however once cleaned did not in anyway spoil what was a beautiful place to stay.
-
"We had a wonderful Christmas stay at Riber View."
The cottage was perfectly situated for us and we soon found Bottom Moor a really great place for dog walking within a couple of miles. I was hugely impressed by the sorting out of a boiler issue on Christmas Eve thanks to the owners and Sykes - Phil was amazing on the friendly and informative fronts in sorting the boiler heating issue we felt very well cared for. As I said it’s a lovely cottage we could have stayed much longer and felt really at home. Highly recommended!
-
"Beautiful cottage and superbly restored hard to believe there could be so much behind such a small frontage."
Some minor downsides:- Washing machine but no iron and ironing board - doesn't make a lot of sense. Definitely no space for two cars, if you have a medium to large size car it's a struggle just for one. The idea that the visitor is responsible for cleaning the oven is ludicrous.
-
"Lovely cottage that is well equipped but missing a few touches like a few logs for the first night fire (kindling and firelighters were supplied but no logs, resulting in us having to go out after we’d unpacked the car."
). Driveway a little awkward to get into, neighbour opposite very hostile and was excessively rude after our front wheels touched her driveway. (Other neighbours lovely and apologised on her behalf, one even brought flowers. Hostile lady came to apologise two days later explaining she’s had enough of holidaymakers she said had been blocking her drive). It would be good if a vacuum had been supplied so we could leave the property how we’d found it, there was a brush but no dustpan. Otherwise it’s a lovely place to stay, nice fittings and comfortable to relax. Beautiful area and very friendly locals generally.
-
"Lovely comfortable cottage set in one of the most beautiful parts of the country."
Very dog friendly. Look forward to returning to Matlock.
-
"Beautiful cottage in a great location."
Access was made very easy and good directions. The property was very clean and tidy with great facilities. Any questions were quickly answered by the owner. Comfy beds. Fantastic views from the back garden. Would definitely book there again if visiting Matlock.
-
"Lovely cottage, lovely furniture and the beds are to die for."
The detailed directions and instructions were great and all arrangements easy. We had a lovely weekend and would definitely return.
-
"The cottage is very nice, clean, well-equipped and well situated (although the climb up from the town centre can be a little hard!"
). We made some very nice walks around Matlock.
-
"Lovely clean cottage."
Kitchen very well equipped. Bit of a hike into town but as long as you have a car it’s excellent. Would definitely use again.

"Beautiful cottage that’s very well equipped with everything we needed."
Very comfortable beds and the wine, milk etc are a lovely touch. The parking space is tight and we could only fit one car in but we have an estate so smaller cars could manage two. We did have to pick up a few of the mats upstairs as found them quite slippery but that wasn’t a problem. The large recycling bin outside was full upon our arrival and wasn’t collected the week we were there so we had to store all recycling in the kitchen then stack it up at the bin when we left. Hopefully it’ll all get taken. Do pay a visit to The Thorn Tree inn on a Wednesday for pie night. Get there early though! The Horse and Jockey pub is a ten minute drive away but does a superb Sunday roast. A beautiful area to explore and lots to do. Had need to speak to Sykes staff a couple of times before our holiday and always found them very polite and helpful.

"Very good holiday cottage, met all our expectations except disappointed about parking."
It was stated there is room for two cars to park which is only true if you have small cars.
-
"The cottage is clean comfortable and very welcoming."
The surrounding area is beautiful with plenty to do. The local pub is ok but the one in Jackson Road has fantastic views and is a quiet local. For those like me who are less mobile the road is very steep but worth the climb! The kitchen has everything necessary. The bedrooms and beds and linen are superb and very comfortable.

"The cottage was amazing and made a brilliant base for exploring the local area."
There is loads to do in the local area for the whole family which also allowed the dog to tag along. The neighbours and locals are all lovely and welcoming as well
-
"The cottage is lovely and has a very calm and cosy feel to it."
Can highly recommend the Lumsdale waterfall walk up the road. The beds are very comfortable. The area is peaceful but still handy for town and countryside. The garden is really sweet and the views delightful.

"Lovely cottage, nice and clean, very helpful owners, we had a great weekend and If we were visiting the area again, we would be happy to stay again."
-
"A lovely cottage."
Very relaxing, well equipped, good location and super views of Matlock. Garden brilliant if you have a dog. I would recommend Riber View.
-
"Lovely little cottage and Matlock is a pretty area with plenty of facilities."
The kitchen is well-stocked and the beds are very comfortable. It wasn’t the cleanest of properties, with lots of dog hair still on the floor which we had to sweep up when we first got there as our toddler got covered! Also little touches missing like chewing gum still left in the bins, no washing up liquid left for us to use and no matches or fire lighters meant we couldn’t light the lovely log burning fire and had to find the shop early on for washing up liquid! We had a nice holiday there but probably wouldn’t go back because of the cleanliness.
-
"Good location near to The Lumsdale Valley and waterfall."
Also, although a steep hill, the distance in to the centre of Matlock was only a 15 minute walk away.

"Had a wonderful time, despite the weather."
A fantastic cottage really cozy. Great location easy to get into Matlock. Will definitely come again.

"We had a lovely week at Riber View Cottage."
The cottage itself is very tastefully decorated and the bedrooms, especially, were lovely and spacious. The location is good but the parking was too tricky for our BMW X5, however it wasn’t a problem parking on the side of the road. We ate at the local pub and also walked to get fish and chips. Great dog walking from the house - don’t miss the Lumsdale waterfall walk. We spent a couple of days visiting Sherwood Forest and also went swimming at the excellent new leisure centre. We definitely want to return, just trying to sort out some dates!

"We had a lovely time in this lovely cosy cottage, everything you could wish for in a relaxing break."
The kitchen was well equipped, the bed extremely comfy and the fire just topped it all off. We would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

"The cottage is lovely in every way."
The kitchen is well laid out with good appliances though I think some pyrex dishes with lids for using in the microwave would be beneficial. They say the driveway is a bit 'tight' but we have a 4x4 which after one shunt either in or out wasn't a problem. The lounge is perfect if you have pets as the furniture is leather so easy to wipe down if necessary though we had blankets to lay over them. The cottage itself is situated off a fairly main road but as its right at the end of the lane you can't hear much if any road noise. Overall we had a really nice time and will be looking at coming back again later in the year.

"This was a great holiday."
The cottage is beautifully decorated and comfortable with pretty much everything one needs. The downside for us was the location, we took our dogs with us and there wasnt any obvious dog walks near the property. One of the neighbours is extremely unfriendly probably due to problems with parking and the lack of space. Rubbish hadnt been collected for quite some rime and we had to take ours home at the end of the holiday as all the bins were full and overflowing. However as stated earlier the cottage is lovely and we enjoyed our visit.

"When we arrived the cleaners were still there!"
As per instructions we arrived just after 3 pm. The cleaner informed us that it was 4! Checked my details and it was definitely 3 in our information. We felt uncomfortable as he was still cleaning out kitchen cupboards etc. No vacuum in property so he then had to bring one in and didn’t leave until 4.15 . The property could go with its own vacuum as well .

"Fantastic cottage, the photos don’t show how big it is, the quality of the place is incredible, even down to the solar powered lights in the garden!"
! Parking a bit tricky but got our large-ish car (VW Tiguan) on with a bit manoeuvring. Really good local pub and easy walk into town, tough walk up the hill though!! Highly recommend and will definitely return soon

"Winter breaks always difficult in England but Riber View ticked all the boxes."
Well located to explore this wonderful area and nice and cosy and comfortable when you return. Would certainly recommend.
-
"Lovely cottage, warm, well equipped."
Parking space a little tricky to access. Location at top of steep hill could be a problem for some. Great local pub.
