  • "The cottage had great potential, but was obviously unloved."

It will no longer be available as now on the rental market. There was some discrepancy between the description and the reality in all areas. There was no enclosed lawned garden, it was an enclosed patio area, not dog friendly. The parking was tricky any car over a Ford focus size would find it hard to park. The neighbours whilst friendly did not make parking any easier by leaving cars and objects in areas that would have helped. The house access was in a narrow lane and hard to find. There was no welcome pack/instructions. The lounge furniture was not comfortable, the best bit was the kitchen. The boiler made an unusual noise when it was working, we were worried it would fail. The bathroom needed a good clean and paintwork was patchy in areas. The shower trap was DISGUSTING, it not been cleaned for a long time. The sink plug did not work and was not clean, cobwebs between cabinet and wall. We struggled and did not find a switch for the light in the entrance hall, to find that you had to tighten the light bulb to get it to work, and loosen it to turn it off, not helpful if under 6’! The recycling instructions were confusing.

  • "Nice kitchen / dining room."

Lounge ok but not finished decoration. Bedrooms ok but poor storage and beds are rock hard. Bathroom ok, but the door did not close properly which is not ideal to say the least. Wifi very poor (I think it's a booster from next door) and had to sit in porch area to get any kind of connection.

  • "Nice clean house with just enough cutlery and dishes."

Difficult driveway to park in. Oven didn’t work so well as temperature dial didn’t function well.

  • "Lovely few days in the Derbyshire Dales."

This property is well situated for Matlock and Matlock Bath. If walking into Matlock be aware it is towards the top of quite a hill! Greatly positioned for all the great places like Chatsworth and Bakewell etc.

  • "On the photos it does not show the stairs, I appreciate old building if an elderly person came along they need to know the steepness of the stairs to upper floor."

Parking ( there is parking for one but if two cars came along there is no room for another car) the advert says first come first served not true, cars parking all over the place in the small road causing problems advert needs to be changed by sykes. Yes would stay there again, clean, tidy, everything there that is required. Easy location of all areas and the dog enjoyed himself.

  • "Lovely trip, close to the centre of Matlock and great surrounding areas."

Property was clean and comfortable and owner was very helpful. Unfortunately wound not be able to stay again as the garden is not enclosed for small dog. It had a short barrier you could put across one section of the garden but my small dog (pug) was easily able to get underneath. This meant we were unable to open the door at any time as the dog could escape onto main road close by. Feel Sykes should change the wording in this listing as is not an enclosed garden.

  • "Very tidy and clean cottage with great kitchen & lovely views."

Beds very comfy. Could have done with a manual to operate the heating, but google did the job. The toaster was set on very high & overdone toast set off the smoke alarm - had to flip the switches on the consumer board to stop it, (the switch marked 'smoke alarm' didn't seem to do the job). Would happily go back.
