  • "This is the second time we have stayed in this lovely terraced cottage."

We love it so much that I'm frightened to write too positive a review in case it becomes too popular...!! it goes someway when after two years the property looks every bit as good as the day we walked into it on our first visit. Great location, great set up, and spotlessly clean, what more is there to say?

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review and hopefully welcome you back another time. Property Owner

  • "Enjoyed our time at the cottage."

Comfortable, clean, well maintained. If I had to be picky, the front garden was quite overgrown. It was difficult to walk up the front path as overgrown with plants etc, also the parking space so overgrown got soaked trying to get in the car or get to the bins. The weather was very rainy which didn’t help the situation.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and take on board your comments about the garden. We will be sorting it this week. Property Owner

The cottage had everything we needed and Monyash is a great little village. The setting of the cottage opposite the village pond is lovely. It was nice to be a little bit away from the main tourist honeypot areas in the Peak District, but to have so much within half an hour.

The hot water pump is unfortunately extremely noisy but that didn’t spoil our enjoyment.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. The hot water pump is the quietest we can find plus it has noise reducing lagging round it. You can turn it off especially overnight as per instructions in the bedroom. Property Owner

Easy to find. Parking for 2 cars. The cottage is a true home from home. The owners have considered everything you could want. Maybe could use a little more drawer storage in the bedrooms?. The local pub and cafe are only a short walk away. Both handy if you don't want to cook. It's so easy to get to tourist attractions and local towns. Buxton, Bakewell and Eyam were our favourites. Thank you for a wonderful week, see you next year

  • "We loved the Cottage, the location was perfect with short drives to Buxton and Bakewell."

Our only concern was the hot water for the ensuite. The electric shower worked fine but temperature of the water from the tank in the ensuite was for one couple a little to cool and intermittent. The booster was used but it still didn't reach the required temperature. The fact the pub was near by which was great we ate there a couple of times. Neighbours where friendly and we enjoyed the relaxation.

Happy you enjoyed your stay overall. If you had let us know about the water, we could've upped the temperature for you. Property Owner

  • "A lovely little cottage in an idyllic setting with a view of a village pond visited (when we were there) by a heron."

The beds are super comfortable, one with an en suite bathroom, the other having a bathroom next door. The kitchen/diner is light and airy, the lounge dark but equipped with subtle lighting. The garden is lovely, and we enjoyed sunny evenings in it, but as it does not immediately adjoin the house a diagram taped to the back door would have been useful so as not to trespass on neighbours property. The nearest town - Bakewell - is delightful. Thanks to the owners for equipping and maintaining such a lovely property.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. It's great to see the wildlife visiting the pond. Property Owner

Could find no matches for lighting stove when one evening a fire in living room would have supplemented the controlled heating. We had forgotten how important can be the number of stair treads for older people as well as gradient approach of front door. The downstairs toilet is a real asset! Shower/bathrooms very good, lovely cooking facilities.

Thank you for your feedback. We are not on vodafone ourselves and no-one else has mentioned it so we were unaware of the phone signal problem. The matches were in the bin with the kindling so had probably slipped to the bottom. Property Owner

The cottage was very clean and instruction were very clear. The cottage was warm and cosy. Bed was very soft (not what we were used to) but none the less was comfortable. Neighbours were very friendly and welcoming. Getting my bike into the shed in the back garden was a bit of effort to start with. No problems with any of the facilities, shower was superb, water always hot.

It was really lovely of the owners, Claire and Martin, to leave a welcome pack of wine, biscuits, coffee, tea and milk. The modern kitchen was very clean and well equipped with more than enough crockery and cutlery, and everything needed for cooking meals. The spacious bedrooms had very comfortable beds with beautifully fresh bedding. The bathrooms were of a very high standard, and everything was spotlessly clean. I had to leave two days early to go back to work, but my partner and brother stayed on, with instructions to leave the cottage as clean as when we arrived. I hope they achieved this! We would love to stay in the cottage again, and have told all our friends about it.

Flies were quite a problem but we accept that as you are in the countryside but a fly swat or maybe some fly spray killer would have been handy. Just a few small items that would have made it perfect .

It overlooks the village pond and within a few minutes walk you can be at the pub , the cafe , the church , see alpacas or get fresh farm eggs. Inside the cottage the kitchen and spacious bathrooms are equipped to a very high standard and all the electrical equipment was so easy to use too. Everything was spotlessly clean ; beautiful carpets , towels and bed linen , kitchen cutlery and crockery , pans etc all excellent . The decor is faultless and very tasteful too. A small lounge but then it was cosy and comfy In the mornings ( when it was warm enough ! ) it was so relaxing to sit with your coffee outside the front door and just gaze at this idyllic village , heat the church bells, watch the heron fly in for breakfast , watch the ‘ ladies in waiting ‘ in the field by the pond and a huge bonus for us we saw two of the sheep lamb ! A very friendly village with folk stopping to talk to you as you walk around Great walks from the door and cycling area. We found it perfect and are going to book again .

The cottage was immaculately clean with lots of homely touches plus the festive decorations. If I had one complaint it would be paying for extra logs for the fire we had already paid quite a good amount to stay for 4 nights, I can't imagine another bag of logs would have broken the owners bank?!

Thank you for your kind feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. We do leave one pack of complimentary logs for each stay along with tea, coffee, milk, sugar, sanitiser, etc and a bottle of wine. As this was over the New Year period, we did leave additional gifts of prosecco and a tub of festive chocolates which we hope you enjoyed. Property Owner

Amazing location, which was a great base for everything we wanted to do. As soon as we walked in to the house we could tell how clean everything was, which really put our minds at ease especially given the current situation. The lockbox for the keys was easy to find and access, although we did find the front door locks really quite stiff so keep this in mind when you are unlocking/locking the door! The cottage was probably the best equipped cottage I’ve ever stayed in, we had everything we could possibly need. Two fantastic sized bedrooms one with a wonderful en suite, and the main bathroom was fantastic as well. The cottage garden is a lovely addition and it was nice to sit up there on the warm summer evening- bare in mind though you can only access it by going through the neighbours garden, but this didn’t bother us at all! Claire and Martin left a little guide on good local pubs, and instructions on how to use some of the appliances which was much appreciated ! All in all we have all said if we come back to the peaks we will definitely be staying here again!
