  • "A great space, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a secure garden for the dog!"

The showers were good, although a few of our group had difficulty regulating the temperature. And although they look great, the stairs were a bit challenging for a few of our group. The games room was a bonus and overall we had a great stay!

  • "Setting is Great and Nick was Very Welcoming."

It's a great space for a large family gathering as ours was. Facilities were spot on, Tv's & Sound systems very easy to use. Beds are comfortable and all rooms are a good size. the only slight negative I would give is that some areas are looking a little dated and the cleanes could pay a little bit more attention to detail as some areas were not as I would have expected. I didn't feel it was necessary to contact the owner over it but would say its the only reason I haven't given 5* all the way across. It wouldn't stop me recommending the place to others at all.

The owner welcomed us personally and provided a generous amount of wine & beer! The house is very well equipped for a large family and the views are amazing. If I were to be finicky... The house could have been cleaned to a higher standard. We feel that the check in is a bit late in the day & check out is too early. The stairs are quite slippery for babies and young ones. A runner down the middle would be beneficial. We would definitely stay there again

  • "This is the second time that we have stayed here as a fifteen strong family group."

I suppose the fact that we have returned says an awful lot about the property and we intend to return next year.Geographically it suits our needs perfectly as does the layout and physical size of the property. That said there are a few areas that i'm sure Nick will address before our next visit. The Bar B Q completely disintegrated while we were having our Saturday night meal and the two parasols need replacing with something far more substantial in fact one of the parasols was broken so we had to manage with one parasol between 8 adults and 7 children. At least three heavy duty parasols are required to provide adequate protection from the sun while people are eating, especially children. One of the heaters in the canopy area was not working which was a shame because the adults like to sit in that area in the evening to wind down after the children have gone to bed. A few small niggles but when you are paying £3,000 for a weekend away they need addressing. Don't get me wrong overall it's a fabulous facility and if it suits your needs i'm sure that you will have a great time here

With a party of 11 adults,2 teenagers and 3 children there was ample room for us all and we never felt on top of one another. Kitchen was more than adequately equipped along with a large dining table. All bedrooms were a very good size with comfy beds. The children loved the sound system and disco lights downstairs. Good use of the games room was made by all. We were lucky enough to have good weather so able to use large garden and furnished patio, giving us more room. Would highly recommend the property for large groups as the space was amazing and with the enclosed garden children could play outside and wander as they pleased from house to games room. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the farmhouse.

This was definitely one of the best houses we have stayed at as plenty of space, lots of different options for sleeping arrangements and a beautiful property in a great location. We didn't get to use the outdoor space much due to the weather but there is also great outdoor seating and a BBQ for the better weather. There is a also a great downstairs sound system and disco lights in the living room so the kids enjoyed having their own parties. The games room was another bonus and an enormous room giving lots of extra space. Such an amazing place and we definitely plan to return at some point. Thank you for a great stay :)

  • "Owner was great, met me on time and showed me round the property, talked me through the sound system which is connected to the wifi so no loss of sound when moving between rooms."

Beer and wine in the fridge which was a nice touch and the place was nice and warm on arrival, the owner fitted a stair gate for us as we had small children with us. The house is surrounded by fields and was very quiet which was perfect. The main problem with the property was the cleanliness of the property, the ovens where dirty, so once switched on it created a fair amount of smoke which set off the smoke alarms waking the small children in the party. Freezer and fridge had left over bits of food in them . Under the sofas (which to be fair are pretty low to the ground so wont get a weekly clean) but found 3 full chicken nuggets under them. (one of the babys toys and gone under it) windows in sitting room where dirty and hadnt been washed in a while. A few little maintenance issues, the door handle on the back door came off due to the screw holes being too big for the screws. water came through the ceiling at one point due to the upstairs shower being on. Shower in main bathroom was missing an o ring which meant the water shot back down the tube and very little came out of the shower head. the temp lock on the shower was broken, so the water could very easily be turned to scalding, If you looking for a place to just use as a base and explore the area, its great, huge rooms, great sized kitchen and sitting room, with plenty of bathrooms with the added benefit of a massive games room, however we spent a fair part of our stay in the property and the few little areas that needed improvement started to bother us.

Anyone should be able to make everyone happy as the options are brilliant. Games room a real bonus which we all enjoyed, especially the adults. We did have issues with showers though so some had to shower in other rooms as pressure was really poor. Some pans in the kitchen really need replacing, we tried hard to clean them but past there best. Not a lot to see locally so drove to Matlock which was really nice. Would we stay again? Not sure

  • "We last stayed at this property almost 5 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."

On arrival we were met by the owner and received a warm welcome. It was much as we remember from our previous visit and that is some of the problem. Keeping a large property maintained must be a headache, however a lot of basic maintenance is waiting to be done. Windows either side of the front door have cracks, some of the showers are poor and both the back door and games room doors are in desperate need of repair. One of our party suffered from an allergy to dust so we gave many of the surfaces an extra hoover. On moving the lounge settees we were of the opinion it was many months, if not longer since they had been moved. However as with our previous visit we had a great time, the house is ideal for large parties and hopefully when our next major anniversary/ birthday comes round in 5 years we will be able to use it again.

The first impressions of the house were disappointing, a little TLC to the exterior would make a great difference. However once inside they'd put a lot of thought into the place. Children were accommodated with stair gates, cots, high chairs etc, the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and kitchen essentials, the toaster takes a long time to toast though. My only criticism and it is very very minor, even on the verge of nit picking, was we would if found it more convenient to have a toilet and a fridge in the games room, as I say this is no hardship as it means going to the massive fridge and using one of the many toilet facilities in the property over the course of the evening !! Extremely well equipped kitchen, cupboard full of games, plenty of seating outside, huge garden for children to play in safely, games room with pool table, table tennis and darts, comfy beds, hot water always, it has everything! Only 1 downside, the cleanliness of the house was not brilliant. Apparently they are looking into this, don’t expect to have to empty bins and dish washer and vacuum when we get there! That was the only thing that let this property down.

We all had plenty of room in house, there is also a great games room for table tennis, darts, pool - (a music system in there would be even better). The Kitchen was well stocked with everything you need & plenty of everything. The beer & wine was a lovely & appreciated touch. It has an amazing sound system and the disco lights were a huge hit. We were very lucky with the weather & were able to make the most of the outdoor eating area & snug with the added bonus of outdoor heating once the sun had gone down. This is a great location for exploring the surrounding area with plenty for everyone to do. Mark, Nick & Geoff the caretaker were so helpful. The layout was excellent with that friendly kitchen and dining room arrangement (where we spent most of our time), a lovely spacious lounge leading onto a well placed patio area and a smaller snug in which our early riser watched breakfast television without disturbing anyone else. It was difficult to choose a bedroom as they were all so nice. Finding USB points throughout the rooms was a real bonus as was the sound system. Everything that we needed was supplied, even my usual supply of additional toilet paper returned home with me because it was already there. A number of our party and the dogs took advantage of the various walks available in this pastoral setting and we all enjoyed watching the farmer check on his sheep and cows in the surrounding fields. The games room was better than expected as there was comfy seating for the onlookers as tournaments were held. The garden was completely enclosed which was great for the dogs and would be great for children as well. There are lots of things to do and see in the area and, even though my group were mostly senior citizens, we all enjoyed destinations which included a cable car ride, tram rides and a boat trip on a canal as well as the usual stately homes. The family holiday usually includes children and grandchildren and my search includes a hot tub or a swimming pool for them. I am glad they were not with us this time as we would have missed out on this truly memorable venue which I would highly recommend.

Lovely touch having dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and washing liquid etc. provided. Amazing sound system and TV in sitting room. Wi-Fi reception was a bit iffy upstairs but fine on lower floor. All bedrooms clean and well presented. Comfy beds and lovely en suite bathrooms. Fabulous views from every aspect. We were a bit puzzled on the presentation of the bedrooms on the website, but a discussion with owner Nick before we arrived ensured that all bedrooms were made up as required to cater for the party. All my friends and family expressed how comfortable the rooms were. Garden and outside space fabulous and we even got the weather to use it in March!! Games room is a great space. We were very impressed by the room proportions and the fact that the downstairs bathroom is accessible - two of our party use walking frames. That said, there appears to be a problem with the shower in that bathroom, which struggled to reach the right temperature, which probably needs to be addressed by the owner. It may also have been helpful to have more photographs of the bedroom configurations ahead of going to help to pre-allocate rooms. However, overall the facilities were excellent with something to suit everybody - we even had a 79 year old playing table tennis! There was an ample supply of crockery, glasses and cutlery - something we have sometimes found to be lacking in rentals. It was also very welcoming to find that the owner had stocked the fridge with beer and wine - a very nice touch! I would have no hesitation in recommending this to others or returning there myself for a similar occasion.

There was a large bathroom (with large bath and separate shower) used by other 2 bedrooms. The only extra thing we would have found helpful would have been a floor plan of the house to use when deciding which were the most suitable rooms in which to have extra beds made up. Some of the extra single beds were the truckle type at floor level and probably best suited for children. We didn't find the sofa bed downstairs very comfortable to sleep on, but the children loved playing games on the enormous TV in that room. Great sound system provided downstairs. On the whole we had a great and fulfilling time and were comfortable. The fully equipped kitchen and dinning section was well appreciated. I would suggest an additional microwave. In addition the sound systems made it even more joyous. The Barbeque set should be cleaned and ready for use, as we had to clean that.
