We loved it. Such a beautiful design and so thoughtfully renovated. You have thought of everything. The barn was so clean and we really appreciated the treats that you left for us! It was extremely comfortable and cosy on a really rainy day. Thanks for all the great walk and pub suggestions and the books on local history. We had a terrific holiday!

There were fresh flowers in every room and the welcome pack was generous. Tor Barn itself is perfect. It has stunning views across the valley and the garden is beautiful. The renovations have been carried out tastefully and to the highest standard. We were particularly impressed with the responsive heating and walk-in shower. We will definitely book Tor Barn again.

The accommodation is well equipped and lots of attention paid to detail..also with a generous welcome pack. Winster has an interesting history and we were fortunate to be there for the ‘Secret Gardens Weekend’ in July.

  • "This was a lovely property, beautifully presented - a lot of thought has clearly gone into creating it, and it's so beautifully situated."

Incredible views and so peaceful. An added bonus is the beautiful garden (and secret garden across the road). The owners are clearly green fingered - a real treat for fellow gardeners like us. The owner Paul was very friendly & welcoming, and they very thoughtfully provided a welcome pack as well which was much appreciated. There is parking at the property which is clearly at a premium in the village, although you do have to drive up a very steep, narrow road to reach it. We would recommend this property to anyone and thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights there - just wish it had been longer.

Thank you very much for your kind feedback, much appreciated and hope to see you again in the future. So glad your enjoyed it. Thanks Rachel & Paul Property Owner

The property is modern and bright with beautiful views from the upstairs living space. The furnishings and appliances are stylish and attractive. The property is amidst others at the top of the village with a short walk to the Miners which serves hearty food and excellent ale. We enjoyed walks in the vicinity and used the local shop in our the village for provisions to supplement the very generous welcome pack provided.

About the location

WINSTER

Bakewell 6 miles; Matlock 4.5 miles.

The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village there is a well-stocked, community-owned general store incorporating a Post Office. There are two pubs, both serving food and traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. The Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, with bike hire available, both lie less than 5 miles from the village, a wonderful base for exploring the Peak District.
