  • "A few cobwebs but that is understandable in view of location."

As previously mentioned in another review the TV needs to be larger. Whilst you don't go on holiday to watch TV it is sometimes required. Loved the wildlife in the garden.

  • "A well designed property in a beautiful location affording privacy, quiet and relaxation."

The only criticisms were that some of the fixtures and fittings appeared tired and due for replacement. The towels were old and rough, the cutlery was mismatched and random as we're the glasses and crockery .As for the large sofa it was impossible to use as it was incredibly uncomfortable with th framework being felt through the upholstery. Overall though an enjoyable stay

  • "This cottage was not suitable for 6 people with not enough crockery for us all."

It was not really easy for someone with limited mobility and severe back pain. Seating was low and difficult to stand up from. Shower water spilled onto the floor which then caused a hazzard. The garden was so boggy it was impossible to get down to the stream. All in all very disappointing.

It was idyllic. The garden was a peaceful haven to reflect and weather was warm enough to eat outside one evening. The bed was very comfortable and the cottage well equipped. Also the welcome pack was a nice surprise. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again.

  • "Lovely setting for this property."

The house was spacious and comfortable and perfect for us and our little dog. Gorgeous duck pond complete with a family of ducks! Ian, the owner came and greeted us, he was very friendly and pleasant and very knowledgeable of area and things to do. Great property for disabilities too as access very easy with ground floor bedroom and wet room. Would definitely recommend this property, great location, we really enjoyed our 4 night break here and our little dog had a fab time...very dog friendly.

  • "It would be useful if the information about the property was on the table so quickly visible when you enter ( it was in a kitchen drawer and we only found it next morning!"

). An easy fix and may be down to the cleaner tidying it away. The cleaning could be a little better - corners and curtains could be improved - but overall good. An electric kettle would be a benefit as the one on the induction hob is very slow. On the whole a lovely well equipped property that suited out needs with elderly parents who appreciated the disabled access, shower room, the ground floor bedroom and the lovely setting. We used it for a visit to Trentham gardens - which are very near.

Plenty of gorgeous walks right on your doorstep and idyllic villages close by too. The cottage was clean and tidy and information was clear and easy to read. Only ever so slight hiccup we had was that the internet was down, no fault to the owner however it did make planning places to go and getting signal for the sat Nav to work, slightly harder. However it was an amazing stay regardless and actually have us some well needed no screen time. We would love to return again. Our dog absolutely loved it here too! Definitely dog friendly!!

Very peaceful. All facilities were good and the place was clean and comfortable. The only issues we had were trouble operating the heating so it was a bit cold and as a wheelchair user (although not totally confined) I found the wet room difficult to use as there isn't really room to turn around and the light switch is on the wall behind the door. No pull switch inside the wet room so that was a hassle. I was glad I'd also taken the wheeled walker.

However, I don't think it is fair to advertise this property as a sleeps 6. There was 5 of us staying and 2 of us where children and there was not enough room.

Thanks for the feed back Emily. I do advertise the property as 2 double bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room suitable for 2 children. I shall review the description with Sykes to try and ensure an accurate representation of the sleeping arrangements. Thanks again. Ian Property Owner

Staples were there on arrival and lovely homemade lemon cake. Nothing was too much trouble. Seeing we were booked in for a month he installed a washing machine which lessened the burden of what to do with laundry. The cottage was really comfortable and ideal for the able bodied and disabled alike as there is a lovely ground floor bedroom and Wetroom. In a lovely valley with a brook running through the garden, it’s well situated for trips to Stoke-On-Trent, Wedgwood, Trentham Gardens, beautiful Shropshire and Cannock Chase for the mountain biker. Our 2 dogs settled really well and enjoyed their walks in the countryside. We can definitely recommend Woodland Cottage for a holiday.

  • "While we enjoyed our stay, we felt the listing was misleading."

From the description and the photos you would think you're quite secluded, however, the angle of the photos fails to show that you're in the back garden of the B&B mentioned as "next door" in the listing. The outside area is lovely and you would think from the listing that it's private use, however, the guests of the B&B were there a lot (which of course they are perfectly entitled to, it's just you expect it to be sole use from the listing). And finally on the last night not only were there people frequently walking past the cottage that made you feel like you were in a fishbowl, the guests also parked their cars outside the windows. All in all it's a very nice cottage, however, please be away that you're in the back garden/car park of the B&B rather than somewhere secluded.

  • "This is a lovely spacious cottage in a secluded and rural location, surrounded by a large garden with plenty of parking space, yet is within easy access of the many historic towns, museums and heritage sites around north Staffordshire and Shropshire."

However it had a number of minor faults that needed some maintenance and reorganisation in the bathrooms and kitchen area. It should also be noted that there is no washing machine, very unusual in a holiday cottage, although the owners offer to do washes at £10 a time.

The only thing I would change is to have shower chair rather than a stool. Ian and Vicki are wonderful hosts and make you feel very welcome. Ian cooked us a lovely curry that we requested and Vicki's massages are just divine, I'd go back just for that, Vicki also gave my daughter a massage and done everything possible to make her comfortable. My husband is disabled and, whilst the cottage was already designed for the disabled a couple of items, grab rails in the bathroom and a small ramp for the patio doors, were needed and immediately supplied. On arrival we were greeted warmly, supplied with lovely homemade lemon drizzle cake and apple juice. During our stay we had two meals in and can only state that Ian is a first class chef. A lot of the ingredients for the meals came from his own garden, of which he is justifiably proud. My daughter and I treated ourselves to a pampering session with Victoria and my husband had a reflexology session on his hand and feet. All of which we thoroughly enjoyed, Victoria is very good at what she does. The whole ambience of this cottage is restful, the grounds surrounding it are lovely and peaceful. We cannot recommend it highly enough and hope very much to be able to holiday there again

The one thing that truly made my holiday was a facial and massage from Vicki the owner of the property. They live next to the cottage and run the b&b.
