  • "We had a wonderful stay at The Annex."

    The property is absolutely beautiful – modern, brand-new, and finished to a very high standard. It’s located in a peaceful countryside setting, making it a perfect retreat. The Annex is located below the host’s living accommodation, and it felt completely private and self-contained throughout our stay. The fully enclosed garden was ideal for our two young children (aged 2 and 4), giving them space to play safely. Inside, everything was immaculately clean and incredibly comfortable – especially the beds! The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, and the overall design and layout made it feel both luxurious and homely. The hosts were fantastic – warm, welcoming, and helpful, but never intrusive; they gave great recommendations in the guidebook ('Pesto' was absolutely fantastic for authentic Italian). It was the ideal base for exploring the Peak District, with plenty of great places to visit. Although we don't have a dog, we can see the property as being ideal for those who do, especially with the self-contained garden and access to a dog shower in the garage. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Annex to families or couples looking for a peaceful, high-quality escape.

The Annex is a charming ground-floor annex situated near the Peak District National Park in the quaint village of Pentrich, Derbyshire.

Upon entering The Annex, you are greeted by a harmoniously decorated sitting room, complete with a TV for your entertainment and underfloor heating for those chillier evenings.

The heart of the home is the stylish kitchen/diner, fully equipped for all your culinary needs, where you can gather around the table to enjoy home-cooked meals and plan the day's adventures.

When it's time to retire for the night, choose from two neat king-size bedrooms, both boasting TVs for those lazy mornings in bed.

The first bedroom features a built-in wardrobe and the second bedroom is enhanced by nice hanging lamps and a fitted wardrobe, both rooms offering a calm space to rest after a day of exploration.

The property also benefits from a stylish wet room, complete with a large overhead walk-in shower, basin and WC, providing a refreshing space to prepare for your day.

Outside, you will find a lovely garden with a mix of lawn, gravel and patio areas, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening drink under the stars.

The garage not only provides storage for bikes but also features a handy dog shower, perfect for cleaning off your four-legged friend after a day of walks in the Peak District National Park.

When you're ready to explore your surroundings, take some time to explore the iconic Midland Railway in Butterley, where you can experience a vintage steam engine ride and learn about the history of the British railways.

Swanwick is a small hamlet in the parish of Alfreton, situated just a few miles from the main motorway links and on the very edge of the Derbyshire Dales. With good access to delightful countryside, excellent walking trails and the market town of Alfreton, which, as legend suggests, was named after Alfred the Great, the area is popular with visitors and provides a good base for exploring the Peak District. The popular town of Matlock, set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th Century. Locally there are a host of excellent restaurants and traditional old pubs as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Families can enjoy wonderful days out to the magnificent Chatsworth House, the cable car ride at the Heights of Abraham, Carsington Lake and the lively market town of Bakewell.
