"Lovely quiet little cottage."
Everything thing provided. Only little thing we found was the two steps down into the bedroom were a bit steep and could have done with a handrail. Owners were very friendly. Would definitely stay again if we go to Derbyshire.
-
"Loved staying here, plenty of walks, the stables is very well equipped with everything you need very comfortable bed, very warm and cosy the enclosed field was a bonus for our dog."
Will definitely be going back.
-
"We loved staying at The Stables with our dog Daisy."
It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and the views around and from the kitchen window are stunning. The owners Keith and Thelma are lovely and welcoming and happy to talk and give advice when wanted. The Red Lion is within walking distance, a friendly pub with some good food. We can definitely recommend it to others and would like to return someday.
-

Keith and Thelma were great hosts. Bed was very comfortable. Amazing places to go nearby.
-
"The Cottage was lovely & cosy, we thoroughly enjoyed our week there, it was well equipped with everything you would need, the only thing I would have liked was a clothes airer, so I could have had somewhere to put our washing on as I didn’t want to put it outside on the line in case it rained."
-
"More spacious than we expected, very comfortable and cosy the hosts were very friendly ."
-
"Amazing views, beautiful cottage, the hosts were lovely."

-
"This is a lovely place."
The views from the kitchen were amazing. The Stables was very well equipped. We were very comfortable and warm. (the heating came on because of the cold English weather, despite it being June) We did manage to sit in the lovely garden one evening though. Thank you Keith and Thelma.
-

"We absolutely loved staying at the stables, the accommodation was spotlessly clean and contained everything needed to enjoy a relaxing break away including items such as dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and large modern kitchen area stocked with all utensils needed."
Lovely comfortable bed , great powerful shower and the heating system was more than adequate to keep the whole place really warm. The views from every window are amazing and the owners are a lovely couple who whilst leaving you alone to enjoy your break are more than happy to help with answer any questions or queries that you have. My husband myself and our dog loved the area ,the beautiful scenery and the long walks and would definitely return to this great accommodation.

"We had a lovely time at The Stables."
It is situated in a pretty spot and the cottage is very comfortable and spotlessly clean thanks to our hosts Thelma and Keith, who were very approachable and friendly. I certainly recommend this for a visit.
Thankyou Sharon & Alan for the comments, also for the goodies left in the fridge. Property Owner

"Beautiful property in an ideal setting."
First cottage we’ve been to that provides everything you need for your holiday, so well equipped . All we needed was our clothes and wash bags. This was our 2nd visit to The Stables and hope to return again at some point. Hosts Thelma & Keith are lovely, friendly and welcoming. Area has some beautiful walks. Shall miss watching the swifts that are nesting in the attached barn . A thoroughly relaxing holiday. Also have to mention the bed. It’s the most comfortable one we’ve ever slept in.
Thx for the comments Janine & look forward to seeing you both again. Property Owner
-
"Lovely property with great shower and bed."
Owners were very helpful. Hope to return.
-
"A perfect place to escape to; surrounded by beautiful views and just so peaceful which was what we were looking for."
The property was very clean and warm, the kitchen very well equipped and it has a lovely hot shower. The hosts were really friendly and helpful, giving us tips for places to go and walk. The local pub was also a great find, only a 15 min walk, which did a wonderful Sunday roast. We were able to drive within 45 mins to many of the beautiful walks in the Peak District, but there are also some great places to explore very close by too. We really enjoyed our stay and would fully recommend it.
-
"The Stables is well equipped, comfortable and spacious in a lovely setting with beautiful views."
In easy reach of some of our favourite places in the peak district. Unfortunately we chose the coldest week of the winter and decided to cut short our holiday by a few days. We were glad to be home before the forecast snow arrived. We'd love to return in warmer weather to stay for the full week and make more use of the peaceful and stunning setting.
-
"Great place to stay, very well equipped and very cosy."
Stunning views of the countryside from all windows and the piece and quiet was much appreciated. Definitely one to return too.Lovely. Thanks Thelma and Keith.
-

"A very spacious, comfortable cottage for 2."
Rural location with great views. Quiet and restful atmosphere. Despite the cold weather, the cottage was blissfully warm. Modern kitchen with everything you need. Has a wonderful view from the kitchen window. Lots to see and do in nearby areas.
-
"The stay exceeded expectation."
The cottage itself was in such a perfect location and so peaceful. It was fully equipped with everything you could possibly think of from tin foil to a cheese grater! My only constructive feedback would be that i wish it could sleep more than 1 well behaved dog as do feel its big enough and also the key would sometimes get stuck so it was a slight struggle to lock the door, but this didn't affect the overall satisfaction with the stay. Truly perfect and exactly what I needed over the New Year Break.
Hi Kirsty thanks for the feed back, we can take more than 1 dog by request , also have on order a new door which is due to be fitted shortly. Thanks again Thelma Property Owner
-
"We had a lovely week staying at the stables."
The location is beautiful with plenty of walking routes direct from the cottage or an easy drive away. The cottage itself is cosy with everything you could need including good WiFi. We would definitely visit again.
-
"We’ve stayed in many properties over the years but this one has to be one of the best."
Well equipped kitchen. Extremely comfortable large bed. Beautiful surroundings and the icing on the cake was that it was dog friendly. Sadly we only booked a short break, this time, but we will most definitely be booking again for a week next time. A great place to get away from it all.
-
"Absolutely perfect!"
The setting is a holiday in itself, with amazing views from all the windows, and the property is immaculately clean and comfortable. The info pack was simple and unfussy, but everything was there. The bed was really comfy and the shower was great. And what a kitchen! Maybe another armchair would be nice, so we could face each other, but I guess we could have borrowed one from the bedroom! Our hosts were friendly and welcoming - altogether a wonderful stay.
-
"No frosted window in bathroom even though there are fields around it would be nice to know there is no way anyone can see you on the toilet which is right next to window."
Cold at night if you have to get up for anything.. Only tiny teapot. Could have a enclosed area outside for you to sit with dog when raining. If your not going out every day.
-
"Very enjoyably stay at the Stables."
The facilities are exellent. the cleaniness was outstanding. Highly recomended. The owners were very pleasent and knowledgeable about this part of the world! Will visit again. Alex and Sue Bradshaw

Two adults and our discerning cocker spaniel had a very enjoyable week in the cottage. It was well presented with all the cooking facilities we needed. Good wifi service too. "Very clean, comfortable and peaceful."
Well equipped too with some extras that often aren’t included ie pepper and salt, dishwasher tablets etc. The cottage was very easy to find. We stayed here as it was a great location to meet up with friends….I’m sure we will return.
-
"Not only was the property superb, but the owners, Keith and Thelma, were very welcoming."
They also had a great knowledge of the area, goat keeping and chickens! Our dog, Monty, was also made welcome despite chasing their cat!
-
"The cottage is spacious and comfortable with great views."
Also the perfect place if you crave peace and quiet. The owners Keith & Thelma are very welcoming & down to earth and I enjoyed our chats. There's 3 goats who are adorable and a few hens. Thelma kindly gave to me some fresh eggs which were delicious. There's a cat too who is very cute. Kitchen fully equipped, bedroom spacious, the shower has really good flow pressure, sofa is comfy and lounge area spacious with lots of natural light. Would highly recommend.
Thanks for the comments Sarah Property Owner

"The hosts are lovely and so welcoming."
This is one of the cleanest cottages we have ever stayed in. If you are looking for Some where quiet to stay, but still want to be close to a town, this is ideal. The cottage has everything that you need. The views are stunning and there is apub that serves good food about a 20 minute walk away. We wish we had been able to stay longer.
-
"Well equipped cottage with friendly and helpful owners on site."
An excellent location for local beauty spots. Spotlessly clean and had everything we needed.
-
"The cottage itself was comfortable and cosy and had everything we needed."
A great base for exploring the surrounding area. Our hosts Keith and Thelma were lovely and welcoming and the area itself was stunning. In regards to the booking itself through sykes it is very easy to do but unfortunately due to covid we had to move our holiday from June to September. I was quite disappointed that we were not offered a refund and only to postpone the holiday instead. All in all we had a lovely holiday and would definitely visit again.
-

-
"Really nice location, good size inside and immaculate."
The owners were really helpful and pleasant and let me store my cycle in an out house which was appreciated, The weather wasn't brilliant and were weren't able to use the chairs and table outside - may be this could be a bit more sheltered.
-
"The cottage was the perfect location and accommodation for the two of us and our large dog."
Fully kitted out kitchen, small bathroom (shower only), king size bed, two seater sofa etc. Very quiet location in the middle of farmed fields on the same site as the hosts home, but also a mile or two drive to a small convenience shop and a couple of pubs which do food too. Hosts incredibly friendly, and helpful with suggestions of places to go in the area. The hosts permit the use of the enclosed field opposite the front door to be used for dogs needing the toilet -supervised and cleared up of course- provided their animals (goats/ducks/chickens) are not roaming/ grazing in it. NB. This is where our dog discovered he could run and jump over 4.5ft high dry stone walls!!!! Amazingly (for such a rural area) excellent 3G connection too! Would not hesitate to stay here again.
-
"Fantastic cottage and brilliant hosts."
Extremely dog friendly and walking for miles right outside the door.
-

"It was a cosy cottage in a superb location with easy walking."
An excellent base where we enjoyed a much needed rest. Surrounding lanes were narrow and steep but that is part of the charm of this area. Lots of photographic opportunities.
-
"This accomodation was extremely comfortable which was very important as we stayed for a month, really home from home with everything to hand you could ever need."
It was really warm and cosy and the views of the surrounding countryside are superb. The hosts Thelma and Keith are a lovely couple and nothing was too much trouble. The fixtures and fittings and linens were all of the best quality and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessary utensils and appliances so a longer stay was easy to manage. My little Yorkshire terrier Oscar enjoyed the luxury and didn't really want to leave. We can highly recommend this accomodation, it certainly had the relaxing feel good factor we were looking for. Thanks to Thelma and Keith.
