  • "The cottage, was as described in terms of the offering and location, it was ideally located to get around, despite being located in a rural area."

My comments are based on my expectations of how a holiday cottage should be delivered. It did not give me a wow factor on arrival, and seemed to be lacking in attention to detail, in respect of some aspects of cleaning and standards. In the kitchen the oven, microwave and hob, needed some attention prior to use, as did the washing machine. Not sure how long the cottage has been in use but some elements need upgrading

Thank you for your feedback Mr. Curtis. I appreciate that your comments are based on YOUR expectations, but I do wonder what you are expecting for the money you and your partner are prepared to pay. I have been with Sykes Cottages for 10 years and my overall rating, even after your slating review is 4.9. I must be doing something right to please the large majority of my customers who over the years have been absolutely wonderful, with lots of repeat business. I do apologise for the soap dispenser in the washing machine not being spotless, but that is one job I only do occasionally. As I said to you while you were with me, I had only deep cleaned the oven the week before you came. I don’t know what you are expecting, but it is going to show signs of wear and tear unless you rent a brand new property. Regarding the microwave and the hob I would appreciate seeing evidence of them being dirty. I am sorry your stay with us was not up to your expectations even though YOU stated ‘The cottage, was as described in terms of the offering and location.’ Property Owner

Location was quiet and the facilities within the cottage fantastic. Not a smart TV so those of a streaming persuasion would need to bring a fire stick or equivalent, but a great quality TV and DVD player . The cottage is also in a fantastic location for visiting Shrewsbury, Attingham Park, Ironbridge Gorge and has a castle just over a miles walk away .

  • "Off the beaten track which is what we wanted."

The house itself is beautifully maintained with great sized rooms. Comfy beds with loads of wardrobe space. Big bathroom with fabulous shower! Good sized kitchen with everything you need... and some lovely biscuits awaiting you! We had great weather so we were able to make use of the outside table and chairs to eat meals and sit and chill with our morning coffee. Yes, it's off the beaten track but close to all the main roads and a great central location to visit all the towns, cities and sites in the region. Would HIGHLY recommend.

  • "Lovely roomy cottage, and garden."

Everything was good, except for a few small things. Couple of broken garden chairs needing replacing. The back garden was quite drab and would benefit from a few pots and flowers. These were just small things, and did not ruin the lovely time we had. We recommend.

Thank you for you comments June. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay but I am sorry that you felt a few thinks could be improve. Unfortunately just before your stay I had pressure washed the garden furniture which seems to have been a mistake as the fabric on two of the chairs has now ripped. I have ordered some nice new metal furniture to replace this. The back court yard has always been a bit of an issue. Pots can always look nice but they need watering daily and when guests are in they do not wish to be disturbed. What I have started doing is planting small rockery plants among the stone so hopefully they will soon be established and therefore giving a little more colour to this area. Thank you again for your comments. Property Owner

They were welcoming, helpful, affable and amendable. Nothing was a problem and the property was presented in a scrupulously clean, tidy and comfortable manner with every amenity available to ensure all needs were catered for. We have spent many holidays and breaks in a variety of properties through Sykes in different locations of the UK. None of them surpassed Parr Meadows in any way. From the first moment we arrived we immediately felt completely relaxed and totally at home. We cannot recommend this property high enough and Tracy/Paul for providing the opportunity to us to experience the most relaxing and enjoyable break we have enjoyed in many years.

Thank you Mike for such a wonderful review. Paul and I are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Reviews like this are really appreciated as it is lovely to know we are managing to exceed customers expectations. Best regards and thank you again. Tracy Property Owner

  • "Our week at Parr’s Meadow Cottage was definitely one of the most relaxing & peaceful holiday breaks we have ever had."

The noisiest thing within earshot being the sparrows nests in the eaves. Being able to sit in the garden overlooking the lovely countryside was a joy. We were particularly lucky with the weather too so getting in and out of the hot tub wasn’t a problem. But even a cooler day the lovely warm hot tub is treat. The patio outside the kitchen is a great little sun trap too. Loved the area so many interesting places to visit ‘Wroxeter Roman City’ ‘Much Wenlock’ & Attingham Hall. There are many decent pubs 10 to 20 minutes drive where you can get a good meal. However if you want something a little more unusual Shrewsbury has a wider choice from Japanese to a Moroccan restaurant which we really enjoyed called ‘Csons’. There aren’t many holiday cottages where we say we would like to return but this is one of them. Thank you too to our great hosts Tracy & Paul who have thought of everything that their guests might need. Highly recommend this accommodation.

  • "The cottage and hot tub are not private in the fact that it is overlooked by a well-used horse riding paddock one side and a driveway the other side where the hot tub is and has low walls around (not good when you are in bathing suits)."

Felt like we were constantly being watched and really didn't settle or relax there. Hot tub broke down for over 24 hours. Couldn't contact owner to report initially. When finally came over, basically said we had broken it (we hadn't) and spoke to us like children! They clearly do not welcome children either. She did not want the children in the hot tub (though we managed to convince her they would not do any harm etc as we have our own hot tub). The area where the hottub is requires some aesthetics....gravel, brickwalls and fencing isn't exactly exotic viewing...hot tub is located around the back, not the front where the views of the mountains are and the garden area. Lots of do's and don't's regarding using the place and the hot tub - if she cannot trust adults to treat the facilities with care, then perhaps she should not be hiring the property out at all. We gave her nothing to have concern about so could not understand her approach to paying guests. People want to relax and enjoy their precious holidays, not be constantly on edge. The barn itself is nice but the atmosphere is not! Shropshire on the other hand, is lovely, especially some of the hill walks and Telford Park and all it has to offer. Would visit the area again but not the property - have stayed in much better ones over the years but sadly the atmosphere and being watched over all the time ruins the lovely barn and holiday itself.

The garden at the front of the cottage is lovely we spent many an evening just relaxing there and the hot tub was a real treat! Overall the cottage was bliss, central to a lot of places of interest and restaurants and local pubs and the local shops (asda and sainsburys) were only a short drive away if you needed anything. What made our holiday special was the friendliness of the owners who took time out of their day to introduce our little girl (5years) to their dog, chickens and horses, which she thoroughly enjoyed!!
