Plenty of plates ( had to clean them as there was still some sort of food on them ) and plenty pots and pans , could have done with a few knives to cut the food , but we managed, I was hovering the house and in the conservatory, I came across lots of ants , I used the fly/ wasp spray to get rid of them . Never came back, when I informed Sykes and the owner Mr Fox , a real gentleman, he got back to me immediately, unlike Sykes that took a few days , my wife loved the dishwasher , washing machine, etc , will I return, yes definitely if you get new pillows lol

Big rooms, comfy beds, and if you have a dog a fabulous secure large garden. The bungalow had everything you need for a great stay and ideally situated close to all the parks, cafes, pubs and shops. The only "fault" was the toilet, once flushed you had to wait a bit before it would flush again, but it did not cause any problems. We would definitely recommend this place. The owner is a lovely gentleman who was very helpful with information etc.

The location of the property was ideal as the walk to town for shops such as Mark, Coop and Boots was easy. The pub round the corner does excellent food and when the car broke down having Kwik Fit rearby was also a godsend. The garden was a joy and well kept . Attractions such as Chatsworth and the Heights of Abraham were a short drive but the park in the town is also only a 10 minute walk away. Shame the football season had ended as a visit to Matlock Town FC may have happened.

  • "Matlock Green has become our favourite Sykes rental property yet, and we've stayed in quite a few!"

The location on the edge of Matlock town centre, with the park just across the road, was fantastic. Five minutes stroll took us to cafes, shops, fine dining, pubs, pretty much anything we could want. The bungalow itself was extremely clean and very spacious, nicely bright and airy, with enormous garden on all 4 sides. The beds were comfortable and the area was quiet, so we slept very well. The kitchen was very well equipped, including washing machine. We liked the poppy theme throughout. Yes, it is a bit of tricky turning onto the lane from the main road (and back out again). Not easy when driving from Matlock itself, so recommend always approaching from the A615-Alfreton-direction (there are a number of places to go past the lane and turn back around if coming from the Matlock direction). Also recommend exiting back out in the Alfreton direction as well. We have a medium-sized SUV and the entry to the lane was fine - it looks tight, but if turning into the lane from the far side of the road, there really is plenty of room. For getting back out onto the main road, I always did it with the car window down to hear oncoming cars from the Matlock direction, and it was all perfectly manageable. Often when we go on staycation, when we park the car up we don't use it again until we leave, but at Matlock Green we went out and about a number of times in the local area, so the lane challenges really were not that big. The parking area is also very roomy - the easiest we have had at any UK rental property. I had a lovely chat with the owner Mr Fox in advance of our stay, and he was so friendly and helpful. He answered all my questions, and also had lots of excellent recommendations for great food, the best dog-friendly venues, as well as one or two places to avoid. He also suggested some great places for walks, which we really enjoyed. Definitely planning to visit again in 2022, as Matlock Green really is a lovely place to stay, with everything you could possibly need within a short level walk, and many beautiful and interesting places to visit within a short drive.

The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and was very well equipped. Plenty of space to move about in, large kitchen, sitting room and conservatory. The garden was excellent, quite large and very private. A big plus for us was it's very well enclosed, at least our Jack Russells couldn't get out! The surrounding area was quite busy with all sorts of shops and other conveniences almost on the doorstep. 5 minute walk to local shop and pub. (The Red Lion is very good, friendly welcome and well run with reasonably priced drinks and meals.) Not forgetting the fabulous Hall Leys park a 5 minute stroll away. Lot's to do around here, Chatsworth House, lead mining museum, heights of Abraham, Matlock Bath and the tram museum all pretty near. We loved it so much, we've booked it already for next year.

Entrance looks a bit tight on first approach however my husband easily got his Warrior L200 down it and turned it around in the driveway but better to approach from the Tansley side of road rather than the Matlock approach if you have a larger vehicle. About the location

MATLOCK

Matlock Bath 1 mile; Bakewell 8 miles.

The popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north are the market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House and Park - not to be missed!
