• "We’ve just returned from a lovely weekend break here!"

• "Two absolutely immaculate, homely and comfortable, beautifully furnished lodges, equipped with everything you could ever need."

  Beautiful views from the lodges also from the well maintained hot tub. The owners are a lovely family and keep their farm beautiful throughout, they left us some thoughtful items which was a wonderful thought. Fantastic rural quiet setting with a tranquil river a stone through away. We haven’t felt this relaxed for a few years…we don’t want to go home! We 100% recommend. • "A wonderful lodge."

  6 adults stayed for New Year plenty of room. Lodge is so well equipped and everything has been thought of to make your stay comfortable. We were all took aback by this. Lovely Christmas card and two bottles of Prosecco as a welcome which was so kind. Hot tub was a dream and we got around to local places including Matlock and Bakewell. Based on a farm which was lovely and rural. A real chance to switch off and relax! Thank you!

  It was really clean and beds and sofa were really comfortable. The hot tub and sauna were such a great extra too. Would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone wanting a relaxing break in a beautiful part of the country.

• "The lodge itself was nicely decorated and large enough for the 6 people advertised with enough glasses, seats and kitchenware to accommodate."

  We booked the lodge based on many of the rave reviews however I was surprised at the lack of cleanliness within the lodge. The main bedroom had two sticky sweets in the bed and the second double we found had a nasty stain on the protector that hadn’t been washed. There was an earring backing and sone plastic wrap in the shower we assumed was off something like soap and a false nail on the floor in the living room. The Tassimo hasn’t been emptied and the drip tray hadnt been cleaned. We were left a few tassimo pods and few packets of sugar/teabags which we weren’t sure if these were left over from previous guests. Given the price we would have expected a few extra touches. Several people had left comments on welcome items but we didn’t receive anything. We had sone issues with the tv as wasn’t picking up WiFi and ended up trawling forums on google on how to correct as info within the lodge was lacking. Lots of do’s and donts but limited info on anything else. When we have stayed other self catering lodges we see the owner at some point but no one made an appearance during the stay. Little things like dead batteries in the controllers were an added frustration. The outside needed sone tlc and mom struggled to get into the bench pub style picnic table on the decking that had replaced the dining set in the pictures so eating outside wasn’t really on the cards given that. I think the main thing for us outside was that anywhere else we had been the hot tub was cleaned down and tested each day. We were up early and didn’t leave the lodge so saw the hot tub get some chlorine pellets tipped in only once during the stay and no testing or wipe down was done that day. We decided half way through not to use it any more as we’re concerned it hadn’t had the chlorination/testing and cleaning it needed. As I say first time ever I’ve had a hot tub and it hasn’t been inspected/tested each day. The view from the lodge is lovely and we did have a relaxing week but given the above we wouldn’t return. Sorry to leave such a negative review but I hope some of the feedback helps put things right for the next guests.

• "Oh wow!! We have returned this afternoon from a four night stay at this property and couldn’t feel more chilled / relaxed"

  . So I needed to post this! The location is rural, so there are frequent sights of sheep and horses - it’s incredibly secluded and quiet, with the exception of the light (daytime only) farm traffic. The view to the front of the property on the balcony area just looks over fields. Blissful. As for the property itself, weirdly, I usually pride myself in leaving somewhere cleaner than I found it… this place was insanely clean, with everything thought about. I just hope we left it clean enough when we left! The kitchen has everything you need (I took all our normal self catering stuff, but only used our own cling film, foil and oil) as everything else was there. Salt, pepper, coffee pods, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, pads and cloths… amazing. The master bedroom is large (we went as a two so can’t comment on the rest, but we did have a nosey and they looked excellent too). The linen and towels all luxury, smelt beautiful. And the hot tub and sauna are the icing on the cake! WiFI also very stable for anyone needing a work-cation. Hatton about a 5 min max drive away with a Co-op and Nisa for supplies. My husband is very critical of hot tubs and saunas… we’ve stayed loads of places where the temp is ‘questionable’… these both provided the ‘hot’ you’d expect. I could not fault this property, in any way, and look forward to returning.

• "We had an amazing few days at River Dove Lodge."

  The lodge has everything you need to cater for your every need. The kitchen is stocked well with lots of gadgets. The beds were very comfy with lots of storage space. The hot tub was fabulous and an added luxury with a sauna. The grounds were very tranquil with lots of animals in the fields. Had a really good relaxing experience. Thank you

• "We loved the peaceful setting it was so relaxing!"

  A lovely touch of an Easter tree and chocolates with a bottle of wine! Bedding was so comfy and clean. I think it could do with a little TLC in parts and the previous guests obviously didn’t look after it. Red wine stains and broken sun lounger and patio furniture needed upgrading. The hot tub had to be refilled as previous guests did something so we couldn’t use it for 24 hrs until it heated up. Not the owners fault they apologised. We couldn’t get sauna to work either. But we generally had a lovely time. There was another lodge next door that looked newer will try to book that one next time. Thank you so much friendly and let us go in earlier .

• "Had a fab weekend!"

  The property is brilliant in a beautiful setting, loved seeing the horses each morning. All the facilities are excellent, we couldn’t have asked for anything more! Didn’t feel the need to get in our car except to collect a Chinese takeout on the last night! The walks are lovely and our dog had a great time in the river. We were blessed with the weather and had plenty of use of the hot tub! Wine and choccies much appreciated thank you! We would definitely recommend this property!!

• "Upon arrival my wife and I received a warm welcome from Janet (and Cocoa, the spaniel) and were immediately made to feel at home."

  The lodge was clean and comfortable and contains everything you need, from toiletries through to coffee machine. Janet has furnished the lodges well and her personal touches can be found throughout. The "welcome" treats were indeed a nice touch. The area is very quiet and we enjoyed relaxing on the decking area which has sun loungers plus table/chairs for eating outside. The sauna is small and can fit 2 people seated, but if you like to stretch out, is practically big enough for single person occupancy. The hot tub on the other hand is spacious and we enjoyed soaking under the stars. In short, a wonderful lodge in a peaceful location. Highly recommend a visit.
