  • "Excellent. Enjoyed our stay."

The property is well funished and vomfortable. Could only be improved by having an enclosed garden.

Thanks for your feedback. We are hoping to fence off the front garden over the winter and provide a rear garden for next summer. Also, forgot to say, following your stay and comments at our other house, we replaced the fencing so that garden is now next door's dog proof!! Kind regards, Joan Property Owner

  • "Overall lovely cottage, well maintained with all we needed."

Off road parking at the rear of the property is very tight.

Thank you very much for staying with us and taking the time to leave a review. Joan Property Owner

  • "The house itself was spotless and the kitchen was well equipped."

Good quality bedlinen and towels. Welcome pack was much appreciated. Very good WiFi and smart tv. We stayed 4 out of 5 days mainly due to the fact that I did not find the sofas or any of the beds comfortable - especially the creaky metal one. Also the traffic was loud as most of it was quarry lorries. My partner was fine but my back wasn’t. Also there was no mention of proximity to a HUGE quarry which never seemed to stop producing dust, noise or lorry traffic. The parking was really tight and we ended up with a wheel arch scrape trying to position the car in the small space and the lane was blocked further up all week by a builders van which meant a perilous reverse out onto a busy road. Also the back view is of untended rear gardens and rubbish which we weren’t expecting and was a bit disappointing. On the plus side the neighbours were friendly and there was a pleasant, safe dog walk over the road. I am glad we came but now knowing what the area is like we won’t return as there is too much industry and it is very busy.

Thank you for the feedback. We have spoken with the neighbours about keeping the rear access clear. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely relaxing stay in this comfortable and well appointed cottage."

Everything seemed very new and well cared for, and we felt at home quite quickly. It is well equipped and fairly spacious (there were only two of us but plenty of room for four). Although it is located in a small village there are plenty of facilities available in nearby Buxton. It is easy to explore the surrounding area, with fairly well marked footpaths around the nearby quarry and across the fields.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback and for great communications throughout your stay. Much appreciated. Kind regards, Joan Property Owner

  • "A lovely, quiet spot from which it is easy to get to Castleton caverns, Buxton and Bakewell."

The cottage is very comfortable and we were grateful for the "welcome" pack of milk, bread and biscuits. The porch area is a wonderful space to keep wet coats, muddy boots and to clean the dog before going inside. We enjoyed playing the board games provided. There is a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room. Definitely value for money.

Thank you so much for your generous review. We're so pleased that you had a lovely stay here in the Peak! Property Owner

Warm, comfortable, all the facilities you need, except a dvd player (not listed, but I didn't notice!). Location is good for looking around Peak District.

  • "Thank you for a very enjoyable stay."

Couple of minor points. The radiator valves were mostly closed when we arrived, and therefore despite setting the thermostat up (from the 10c when we arrived) the rooms did not heat up. It took a while to figure this out. Also, the floor in 'boot locker' room at the back gets wet when it rains. Not really a big deal but you should probably look to address it. Otherwise was very nice.

Thank you for this. We've now fixed the leak in the locker room. And we check the radiators each time guests leave. Very helpful feedback. Thank you, J Property Owner

    But will definitely stay again

Thank you. We have now included a section on bins and recycling in the welcome pack. Kind regards, Joan Property Owner

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
