  • "Very clean and well appointed just a short walk into the town."

I can't think of anything that we needed that wasn't there.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at this property."

Quick five minute walk and you’re onto the main high street, with free on street parking. House was clean, kitchen was well stocked with all required components and utensils. Bed in the main room was large and comfortable. Only minor suggestion would be to maybe put another lamp in the living room (on the shelf to the left of the tv perhaps?). The main living room light was quite bright, but with it off - the one lamp in the living room wasn’t bright enough. We brought down one of the bedroom lamps, that and the existing living room lamp was fine.

  • "A good 5 night stay, thanks."

Made a good base for my trip to the Peak District. Handy to stay in a town with so many shops and evening food options within walking distance.

  • "Excellent stay with great communication and support from the owners."

Nice gesture with the gifts on arrival. Very good location for Buxton Town centre and no issues with parking. Beds very comfortable and Smart TV was a plus. Only comments we would make is that the table lamps in lounge and bedroom could be better and it was quite dark by kitchen sink and dining table. Also, anti slip mat for the shower would have been nice. However, would definitely stay here again

  • "Best holiday rental we've ever used."

Sufficient towel rails and hooks in bathroom, washing up liquid provided, also salt and pepper. Teabags and instant coffee in kitchen. Obviously a well thought out rental. Parking fairly easy although a little tight. Only slightly negative comment might concern the steep and narrow staircase which might challenge the less fit customers. Situation close enough to central Buxton but in a quiet area.

  • "Lovely cottage exceptionally clean amd had wverything we needed."

Added extras were a lovely touch. Lovely owners who were great with a problem (of our own making) parking was a bit of an issue as when coming back in the evening there was nowhere to park near the property. Beds were a little uncomfortable and one definitely needs replacing, but it didn't affect our stay and we would definitely return

  • "Good points: Clean, good size bathroom & kitchen."

Prompt attention to light bulb replacement Bottle of wine & milk good touch Points to consider for improvements: -As front door opens directly into exterior, would advise a curtain behind front door for cosiness & privacy - light in sitting room still flickers despite replacement. Whole room could be brighter or more ambient lighting as it feels rather stark - good size kitchen but with better rearrangement, could make better use of space to accommodate small table. Likewise boiler area could be better utilised - stairs are v steep, should clarify in accommodation description as would not be suitable for some

  • "A great break in the cottage."

It was comfortable and worked well for our family of 5 plus dog. Our only suggestions for improving it are a fifth chair around the dining table and a few more mugs in the cupboard. It was good to be able to walk to a field and play park and also into town to good pubs.

  • "We have just returned from a stay at the property and have had an amazing week."

It was very well equipped - even down to the little touches of a hairdryer and bubble bath being supplied - and the welcome pack of chocolates, wine, milk and breakfast juice was greatly appreciated. As for location it is ideal with many superb walks on the doorstep. We travelled to Thor’s Cave, Dovedale, Tissington Trail and Manifold Valley, all within easy reach and very recommended. Chatsworth House isn’t far away and neither are the towns of Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne - all worth a visit too. Parking at the property is on-street and we never encountered any problems. There was always spaces in the general vicinity. Dogs are welcome and a big plus is the park at the top of the street (two minute walk) where he could play ball and run off his lead. All in all a lovely place to stay and we would have no hesitation in staying again.

  • "We had a great stay at Bennett St with our two teenagers and dog."

The house was clean and comfortable and in a great location less than a ten minute walk from the centre of beatiful Buxton. We explored the sights and parks locally with Solomon's Temple and Pool Cavern just a few minutes away on foot, and proper hikes such as Three Shires Heads, not far by car. Our four legs enjoyed running on the field at the top of Bennett St, just two minutes away from the house. We found several dog friendly eateries too and would recommend the Cheddar Cheese Pub, Lubens and the Sacro Lounge.

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
