  • "We've just spent a wonderful week at Overton between Christmas and New Year 2024."

We've had such a lovely stay in this beautiful property. All the beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and even included a steamer and plenty of baking trays, pans and oven dishes. There was plenty of cupboard storage space and ample seating in the lounge. Although the property sleeps 8, there were only 6 dining chairs. However, as we are very local to the property, we were able to easily pop home for a couple of extra, foldable chairs, so we could have a family meal. It might be helpful to supply a couple of extra foldable chairs for guests to use in future. There was a folder in the house with manuals on a number of items, however they didn't include some key items. It would be helpful to have an info book for guests, to include things like: WiFi code. Some general instructions on how to navigate the TV to get terrestrial channels such as BBC and ITV - it took us a while to figure it out. Also how to use the hob as not everyone has a modern hob. Once we worked it out it was great. Also we struggled a little how to use the oven and particularly how to turn it off, which we discovered by chance. We managed fine in the end but thought this feedback might be helpful for the owner. We had such a fantastic stay and were very comfortable in this beautifully finished property. The bathroom and en suite were beautifully finished and the showers were amazing. The little touches like tea, coffee, a bottle of wine, salt pepper, the coffee machine, towels in all the rooms and really snuggly bedding made it a real home from home for us all. We will certainly be coming back to Overton next year. Thank you so much to the owners for providing everything to make our stay so perfect.

  • "WE WOULD ALL LIKE TO THANK MICHAEL FOR PROVIDING US WITH MOST LUXURIOUS HOLIDAY ACCOMODATION."

EVERYTHING WAS PROVIDED FOR US AND EVERY ROOM WAS LARGE AND COMFORTABLE WITH SOME NICE TOUCHES REGARDING ORNAMENTS ETC. THE MAIN BATHROOM WAS 5 STAR LUXURY TREAT, KITCHEN WELL STOCKED AND ALL BEDS SO COMFORTABLE. WAS ABLE TO THROW A FAMILY BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR MY SON IN THE DINING ROOM WITH EASE. THE GARDEN AREA WAS ALSO GOOD FOR WINDING DOWN AFTER A LONG DAY. LOCATION WISE WE WERE ONLY 20 MINUTES WALK FROM THE TOWN CENTRE AND THE FAMOUS CROOKED SPIRE, ONLY HALF AN HOUR FROM THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF SHEFFIELD AND ON THE DOORSTEP OF THE PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK WHICH IS WHERE WE SPENT MOST OF OUR TIME. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY TO ANYBODY WHO WANTS A LUXURY BUT COSY STAY IN A TOWN WHICH PROVIDES A GATEWAY TO SOME OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR SCENERY I HAVE EVER SCENE.

Where you’ll be staying

CHESTERFIELD

Matlock 10 miles; Chatsworth 10 miles; Bakewell 13 miles.

The historic market town of Chesterfield acts as the gateway to the Peak District, and has much to offer visitors. The town is famous for its 14th Century church with "Crooked Spire", twisting curiously from its true centre, while the frequent bustling market days are ideal for exploring the many different specialist shops and stalls which line the old Market Hall and charming Shambles beyond. The town also boasts Queens Park, with its lake, walks and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre. Nearby, the Elizabethan Hardwick Hall is still impressive today, with its 6 grand towers elaborately monogramed with Bess of Hardwick’s initials, overlooking the superb gardens and walled courtyards of the grounds. Also popular is the semi-ruined 17th Century mansion of Bolsover Castle, set high on a wooded hilltop, looking west towards the heights of the Peak District. Chesterfield has a host of other attractions within easy reach, such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, the amenities of Matlock and Bakewell, or the opera at Buxton. An interesting base for a varied break.
