  • "Absolutely fantastic break, beautiful property within amazing parkland."

Really, really peaceful cottage and surroundings, very comfortable inside and homely, the discount on all amenities was excellent value, farm, house, gardens plus price reductions in all of the shops. Fantastic stay, will definitely return and recommend. Donkeys in field beautiful.

  • "Key was kept in a dark place and difficult to see for the code."

Courtyard paving was very slippy when wet. Ensuite plumbing was very noisy, the neighbours complained. Garden was overgrown and very weedy. Garden furniture was covered in green algae. No socket in bedroom for hairdryer. Could do with a clock in the bedroom. Paint peeling on walls and the window frames were rotting. Windows were dirty.

  • "Whilst the location of the cottage is excellent, with its proximity to the Farm and the Park, the description of the cottage as "beautifully decorated" really stretches the imagination!"

The cottage didn't feel terribly clean and was infested with ladybirds, which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. I'm afraid we won't be returning. The cottage really should be upgraded.

Nice welcome pack which was great as it was snowing and freezing cold when I arrived so could have tea and biscuits by the fire without having to venture back out! Sarah and Ian were super helpful if ever we had any questions.

  • "This was our third stay over a period of ten years."

The cottage is lovely, which is why we came back. The cottage is showing and suffering from its age and wear. The seating in the front room is very uncomfortable and ready for a change. The window frames are in a dire state. It would be a shame if these cottages closed. The cottage is just a lovely place to stay. Mostly quiet farm setting with the Manchester airport flight path being the only source of noise. If you wake early (~5:30am) then this is unlikely to be a problem. It was a nice touch that the cottage now has Wi-Fi. It struggles to reach upstairs but it’s a welcome addition. I recall having to provide my own solution previously. Free access to Tatton Park and the farm is a bonus. We had visits from the Donkeys who were very inquisitive. Geese, pigs, chickens and goats were also there. Kitchen was good and well stocked with pots and pans. I do like this place and I hope that it is looked after and kept in good condition. It must be generating a bit of revenue for the council / National Trust.

  • "The property although reasonably situated with 2 farm gates to open…."

One was not working which we were not informed about resulting in us having to phone for assistance on arrival in th dark, no light and raining..not the best start. Although warm when the heating was on, it was freezing when off. with condensation problems as windows original. The facilities were only good as access to the Tatton Eatate was free. Having rented many holiday properties and rented out our own property we found Sykes Cottages information, To do list very dictatorial and unfriendly.

  • "There was no hot water for 48hrs on arrival."

Sykes has plenty of phone numbers to book a cottage but, try reporting a problem, and it's by message which wasn't answered for five hours. Simply not acceptable in my view. Tatton management was very good and dealt with situation (as best they could). Dairy cottage has no internet and barely any mobile access. In today's world, I think the lack of internet should be shown in house details not left to a chance reading of previous tenants' comments.

  • "This is the fifth time we have stayed in the cottages and we would do it again."

It’s not only the character and comfort of the cottage, but also: its location in the beautiful grounds of Tatton Park; the helpfulness of the staff at Tatton; the well equipped kitchen; the coziness of the wood fire; all within easy reach of Knutsford. Thank you for a lovely Christmas, we had a great time here!

  • "We don‘t like to leave a negative feedback, but the cottage was very basic."

For the the first 4 days we could not use the shower as it was leaking and could not sleep in master bedroom with the constant Chinese torture-like dripping from it! There was an overwhelming smell from the oil fuelled boiler which was intolerable without having all windows open! Fortunately we had good weather to enable this but of course for security at night and whilst we were out the windows had to be closed. The cleanliness was dubious the towel rails in the bathrooms were filthy! We had to buy ourselves a coffee machine and water filter jug, just in case you‘d like improvement suggestions for the the future. The location was great but disappointingly Tatton Park‘s facilities were largely closed due to staff shortages!!! i hope this is helpful!

  • "Our stay at the Dairy Appartement, Tatton Park was idyllic."

The cottage, the woodburner, the donkey's in the field, the people on the farm the staff at Tatton Park. It was so much better than we anticipated. We enjoyed a walk through the park to pick up a newspaper or loaf of bread - wonderful. The only downside, cottage doesn't have WiFi but we took a mobile data WiFi router which worked fine because we needed to be connected whilst we were there.

Access to all Tatton Park’s award winning facilities (without having to pre-book) is included in the price, which is a real bonus. Also worth a special mention are the friendly and helpful estate staff. This was a last-minute booking and there was little else available, but it’s turned out to be one of our best and most memorable holidays. Only wish we could have stayed longer! Our second brilliant cottage stay arranged through Sykes - Many Thanks!

The location was very convenient for the south Manchester area. Eating breakfast outside, overlooking Tatton Park was lovely. The only thing that could have made it better would have been WiFi. The lack of WiFi became an niggling irritation but the overall holiday was lovely and suited us after the lockdown due to COVID-19.

  • "This was the second time I have stayed here, having stayed in Apartment 1 last year."

The noise of planes from Manchester Airport does not bother me, nor any of the other members of my party, but will do to some and this should be made clearer in the listing. Whilst the property had been well cleaned and was fully equipped, it is clear it is some time since the property has been updated/undergone an overhaul. I would think it unlikely on any modern definition of a four star rating that this would qualify with areas of the property (such as the utility room) extremely messy and the freezer shoved in a dark cupboard in this room where an oil fired boiler provides a 'nice' oily smell. The property location, both for Tatton Park itself and for the North West as a whole with its proximity to the M6, cannot be faulted. It is sadly showing signs of its age and is not perhaps the jewel it once was or could indeed be in the future.

  • "The furniture could really benefit from a clean or recovering."

The sofas were badly stained and have lost some of their spring. The single beds were really uncomfortable, new mattresses are required.

  • "The location of the property was as advertised but the property itself was very tired looking - inside and out."

The lounge furniture wasn’t really comfortable and the door between the 2 apartments wasn’t soundproof or smell proof. The back lobby, where the boiler was housed was untidy and the smell of oil from it was very unpleasant. It was very untidy and hard to get outside from it as the door to garden wouldn’t open very wide. The outside furniture is falling to bits and the garden needs a good tidy up. Upstairs the beds were not very comfortable, the en-suite door didn’t close fully. The bathroom radiator wasn’t working when we arrived and we had to get the maintenance guy out to repair it. There was nothing mentioned about the closeness of Manchester airport - the property was right on the flight path hence we had planes passing right overhead from early morning until late at night - certainly didn’t match the description of an isolated position. We certainly wouldn’t describe it as a 4 star luxury property. Overall we we’re very disappointed with the property.

For example Tatton House and Park are right on your doorstep but the cottage is within easy driving distance of Manchester City Centre, Trafford Shopping Centre, Chester, Liverpool etc but also the Peak District Villages of Bakewell and Buxton. • "For us, the lack of Wi-Fi was a bonus as it restricted the teenagers usage and allowed us to spend more quality time together."

It also kept us from being tempted to work. The cottage is located on the edge of the Farm attraction which our grandchildren enjoyed when they visited. However, due to restricted access and fencing we felt quite hemmed in at times, especially in the morning and evening when the farm closed. It would be an improvement if there was a pedestrian gate to be able to go for a walk and/or run before 12 midday or after 5:00 p.m. The voucher was an excellent idea and encouraged us to visit the house and gardens as this was free. Knutsford itself was a lovely town and well worth a visit providing you do not mind the intermittent plane noise overhead. We had a nice meal at the Lost and Found.
