"While the property itself is lovely (this is our 2nd stay) there are a couple of things that niggled on our last stay."
The property allows pets and rear is shared access which in itself is fine but the neighbour never fully closes the gate and nor is there any way to properly secure said gate closed. Not great for pets. The logs were not refilled as implied (there were 8 in total) and not were they replenished after our visit (we had to re-enter the property after leaving and it was evident the property had been serviced but the logs not replenished. The pillows on the bed are shot, they offer no support at all. The mattress is too small for the bed meaning you bash yourself on a wooden bed frame when getting in/out of bed, the quilt is to small for the mattress and the quilt cover far too big for the quilt. These are only gripes, the cottage is lovely as is the village and its residents and if these things don’t bother you then you will have a fantastic jump off point to explore the local area.

"Lovely, cute cottage!"
We had a fantastic stay at Dragon Cottage and will definitely return. The cottage was really clean and comfortable throughout. Kitchen fully equipped with the essentials apart from salt, pepper & oil which you would usually find in a cottage, but it didn’t directly affect us as after all the walking we actually couldn’t be bothered to cook!! Arrived to a bottle of Prosecco & tea bags, coffee etc and which was greatly appreciated. Lots of books & games to keep you occupied. We didn’t need to contact the owners during the stay but would like to thank them for letting us stay at their lovely cottage!
Hello Hollie, so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Dragon Cottage. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Warmest regards, Lyndsey and Kieran Property Owner

"First of all they need new cleaners!"
We left the property cleaner than when we entered! The cooker hood hadnt been cleaned for weeks. (We didnt clean that, though). The log burner was full of ash and burnt logs. The cooker shelves were dirty as were flat pan trays and frying pan. We moved a settee to give us more room to get round the table and obviously they hadn't hoovered underneath. It was clean and tidy when walking in but had clearly not been bottomed! We hasd an enjoyable stay although the beds weren't very comfy. Thanks goes to the caretaker who decorated it for christmas. Lack of doormat by the back door (we had to use our towels), sparse utensils (no potato peeler for one). No spare bin bags etc. Not clear enough what the recycling bins were used for. The shower head just trickled water out so we had to take it apart and clean it ourselves! There was absolutely no additions which we have always found when staying in holiday lets. You have to mentally consider whats in your cupboards at home and take with you! No salt and pepper for one and anything else you would use when cooking a meal! The cottage is situated in a very quaint village with plenty of walks and pubs not too far away. We enjoyed our stay but didn't enjoy the cleaning or having to travel into Bakewell to buy the additions!
Hello Mrs Bland, Firstly, thank you for your honest feedback and we offer our sincere apologies that you have not had the experience that either you, or we as the owners, would have expected. In respect of the points you raise: Cleaning - The poor standard of cleaning is not acceptable. Consequently, we are now in the process of changing our cleaners to a new provider. Facilities - We have tried to ensure that the property has everything people would need for a stay without cluttering the cupboards with unnecessary items. For example we provide a measuring jug, water jugs, pestle and morter, knives, mixing bowl, chopping boards, sieve, cooking utensils, pans etc. We have checked the current inventory and will be ensuring that the potato peeler is replaced, along with salt and pepper and oil to get people started on their stay. We already provide a free and unlimited log supply for people's stay and within the yellow folder have advised on local shops in Youlgreave, a 5 minute drive away. We are pleased you liked the Christmas decorations and hope that you will stay with us again in the future to see the improvements which are now underway. Kind regards Kieran and Lyndsey Property Owner

"A quiet, comfortable and relaxing place which had almost everything we could want."
Clean; comfortable beds; well stocked kitchen; really hot water and large bathroom We thought there was a dish washer and indeed dish washer tablets were left for us but there isn’t one. Not that it mattered too much Would have liked a bowl and drainer mat for the sink to protect both sink and china. Also a caddy in the shower for gels and shampoos etc. would love to come back again
Thank you for your kind feedback. I've no idea why the cleaning company left dishwasher tabs when there isn't one! Thanks for your recommendations. If we can think of a way that we can add the suggested items to the itinerary in a clean and hygienic way we will do so. We look forward to welcoming you back to Dragon Cottage so you can discover more of what the area has to offer. Property Owner
