  • "This was a lovely and cosy cottage, well stocked with everything you need for a self-catering home from home stay."

The Welcome box was great, especially the Clipper tea. The beds and sofas were very comfortable, with relaxing decor throughout. Plenty of lights, needed for my perpetually knitting mother, but adaptable for a relaxing feel too. Lots of useful local information provided. It is well situated for access to all of the Peak District. The owners responded promptly to a query I had. Lots of bike and doggy space and facilities in the huge cellar, including an additional fridge and freezer. We found it easy to park nearby.

Thank you so much for your kind and positive feedback Rebecca. We’re so pleased you had a great time and enjoyed your stay at the cottage. Stuart and Mandy Clarkson Property Owner

  • "The cottage is very well appointed, decorated and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen."

Our only criticism is that it sleeps six people and there is only one bathroom with the only toilet in the bathroom. We think there is plumbing and room for a toilet and possibly a shower in the basement. If there was another toilet in the cottage it would be totally excellent. Its location is good for shops etc in the village.

Thank you for the feedback Isobel. We have considered adding a toilet, possibly a shower. We could possibly add a toilet with a pump, but there isn’t enough height to include plumbing for a shower. We can see that you marked us down on accuracy of the listing, it would be useful to understand any inaccuracies. The listing is clear that there is only one bathroom & toilet. • "Lovely cottage, stocked with everything you could possibly need and more."

Tideswell is beautiful with plenty of amenities. Ate at the Star one night and also at Sals Italian, would recommend both. So nice hearing the sound of the cathedral bells. Highly recommend both cottage and village.

Thank you for the lovely feedback Sue. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay in the cottage and the village. We love hearing the bells too, it’s wonderful hearing the sound echoing through the streets. Stuart and Mandy Clarkson Property Owner

  • "The house itself is lovely and in a great location."

Nicely furnished with good facilities and appliances, altho the dishwasher wasn't great, but I don't know if that was due to the appliance itself or the dishwasher tablets. We found the TV remote not particularly user friendly - getting the cursor in exactly the right place was a challenge. Also for some reason BBC is tuned into London rather than the local channel. We had a very hot couple of days during our stay, the bedrooms would benefit from the addition of fans. Parking was available on the road although not right outside the house. The only slight negative is that the bells at the Cathedral of The Peak ring out all night every night!

Thank you for the review Patricia, we’re glad you liked the cottage and Tideswell. We have checked the dishwasher & think the salt may have just run out. We stayed ourselves and it seemed to be working fine now. Concerning the TV, unfortunately this is the one supplied with the new television. You can use the wheel rather than the cursor, which is often easier. The TV uses Freesat, it has probably auto tuned to the strongest signal, we will see if it can be tuned in to the local BBC station. Thanks for your suggestion about the fans. • "Tideswell is a perfect location for walking or cycling around the Peak District."

The village is less touristy than many of those around it but better value as a result. Corner cottage literally has everything you need on your doorstep — a selection of pubs, co-op supermarket 1-minute away, Tindalls bakery (pork pies and pasties for walking picnics

Thanks for the positive review Nigel. We’re glad you had a great holiday and found the Cottage to have everything you needed, inside as well as it’s great position in the village. We’d spent many breaks in Tideswell and really love the village. Looking forward to welcoming you back in the future. Stuart and Mandy Clarkson Property Owner

  • "We have just returned from a 5 day stay in this beautiful cottage."

Spotlessy clean, well equipped to a high standard and the welcome hamper and extensive range of teas, coffees and hot chocolate sachets were a really kind gesture. Bedding, pillows and beds are the best we’ve ever slept on. Really cosy and welcoming property in a quiet yet busy enough village. The local Italian Sals offered a really lovely menu and take your own bottle made it not an over expensive outing. We also had a take away from the curry hut in Hope Valley and the local pubs are all lovely and dog friendly . Lots of walking and was great to come back to a warm, clean and well equipped cottage. Would definitely love to stay again . Even the weather was kind. Thankyou to the owners.

Thank you for your wonderful review Vicky. We’re so glad you had a great holiday and that you had everything you needed in our cottage. Tideswell is a great village to base yourself, with almost everything on your doorstep. We’ll have to try the curry hut next time we’re at the cottage. The kitchen is really well equipped with everything you might need. Dining area and sitting area are comfy, nice to have the board games! All bedrooms are great and beds so comfy. Useful basement with its own entrance so good for boots and bikes etc. location in village is good. And the village was a good size with few options for eating out. Parking is on street but was not a problem. All in all perfect for our stay. Thank you !!
