"Lovely cottage in a perfect location in Tideswell."
Ideal for walks in the area and great pubs and cafes and shops nearby. Would definitely recommend this charming cottage in the picturesque village of Tideswell.

"Very nice, clean cottage, excellent location."
It is small and cosy, very well equipped. The owners are very helpful giving information and check in was very easy.
We had a pleasant stay and would recommend this cottage.
A few things to note: one of the dining benches is wobbly, one light in the upstairs bathroom and one in the landing were not working.

"It's a well positioned cottage for exploring the local area, especially visiting chatsworth."
We could see from last year that it has been refreshed, however the heating especially in the front bedroom needs attention as on an evening it was cold and the radiator especially needed attention. The hallway was chilly and could possibly benefit with a door curtain.

"Queen's Cottage - what a treat!"
Perfectly located for out and about and on the doorstep adventures, and only a stones throw away from some enchanting towns (Bakewell, Belper, and spa-town Buxton) or those steeped in history (Eyam, Hathersage). My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was far larger than expected, was warm, welcoming and provided everything we needed for the duration of our weekend. Huge and happy thanks to the owners. We loved it!

"The pricing of the property did reflect the general condition (we only paid £401 for our stay whereas other properties were upward of £900 for the same days of the half term week) The general cleaning was absolutely fine, but it was definitely in need of a deep clean in several areas, I was in an upstairs single bedroom & the bed was in need of a new mattress, I am finding it quite difficult to write a fair review as to be honest you get what you pay for & the pricing was very fair."
Hi Carole,
Thanks for your feedback. We've now replaced the single mattress so thanks for flagging that. We've also given the property a deep clean since your stay.

"Dear Sir,
I don't know if the owners are elderly or if the cleaners are elderly or both but the standard of cleanliness within the property was at best appalling."
We had to clean everything in the kitchen before we could use it including oven trays. I do not know when the freezer was last defrosted but I should have packed an ice pick. The bedrooms were okay but again whoever cleans the property doesn't bother checking under the beds as these were disgusting. I forgot to mention the state of the microwave this again was disgusting. I would like to request a full refund as this property was appalling.

"I'd book Queen's cottage for my family again."
The owners have been very thoughtful about what is needed for a self catering walking holiday with your family - for example tea, coffee, condiments and plenty of cleaning supplies. There is an optional stair gate for the top of the stairs, plenty of towels, comfy bedding and extra blankets. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom is separate from the rest of the sleeping arrangements which was perfect for my teenage step son to have his own space. The location is excellent, we felt we were right in the middle of everything we wanted to do so nothing was more than a 30 minute drive. Plenty of walks from the cottage too! I saw a review stating the kitchen was too small... it is on the small side but we cooked family meals for 6 with no problems at all - it's perfectly adequate for a holiday stay. Games, puzzles, maps, hairdryer, vacuum cleaner, spare dining chairs, TV, WiFi all provided too. Loved it!

"Cottage is spacious with an excellent layout with a downstairs single bedroom and bathroom away from the rest of the family upstairs, perfect if you're bringing Granny too!"
Stairs are a little on the steep side, but as expected for a cottage of its age.
Kitchen is tiny, but well stocked with utensils and pans etc and looks out onto the secure garden courtyard area.
Cottage itself is in a superb location, right opposite a pub which does hot food. We also enjoyed pizzas from the Italian up the road, which were reasonably priced too.
We also enjoyed watching horses being ridden up the high street and listened to owls as we went to sleep. We walked Mam Tor, did the Monsal Trail, Buxton and Eyam village. Everything was within 20 minutes. Perfect!
Excellent communication with owner too, couldn't have been easier and we hope to visit again! Thank you

"Lovely cottage but lethal stairs!"
Small kitchen but we only use it for drinks and breakfast. Had to buy a mat for the shower as we are all getting older and worry about slipping. Lovely location, enough places to eat to have somewhere different each day. All in all we had a great week with lovely weather too/

"We had a fabulous stay in Queens Cottage."
Surprisingly large house with everything you need.
Wood burner with a supply of logs, comfy beds and relaxing atmosphere.
Well placed in the village, opposite the Horse & Jockey pub. We stayed in the front bedroom facing the street & it was very quiet.
Fabulous local walks.
We ate out every day, including breakfast at the local cafe. So no cooking at the cottage.
Very quick response when I had a question for the owner Grace.
We would definitely recommend a break at Queens Cottage.

"The cottage,was very nice generally."
Let down by general cooking equipment and crockery. No pan lids to be found and only four decent sized cereal bowls so two of the party had to make do with small fruit bowls not very practical in that sense. Also the pub across the road was quite noisy. We didn't mind until 11.30 and appreciate it is the last weekend before Christmas as but this went on until the early hours and Elvis was obviously still in the building. Overall a very nice place just needed a bit of thought on the utensils side.

"As a group of four friends we had a lovely stay and the cottage was perfect for visiting Bakewell and Christmas at Chatsworth."
Lots of nooks and crannies and a great social kitchen /diner to enjoy and chat in at the end of the day. Although we brought our own, a small welcome pack would have been a nice addition, just milk, tea and sugar in a little basket set out ready for us after our journey would of been great although there was sugar and teabags in a cupboard. If the heating could be set for the arrival time that would be another plus as the cottage was initially cold on arrival, when we returned at a later time after Chatsworth on the second day it was on and much more inviting. Perhaps time for a dab of paint refreshing some doors but overall we had a lovely stay. Thank you.
