  • "Fantastic holiday accommodation in a really great location."

Was concerned that we wouldn't find anywhere to park but we were able to park either on the quiet road right outside the property or opposite in the square. Lovely and warm, scrupulously clean and well equipped. There was only my husband and I this time, however, I think it would be a bit tight for 4 adults. Tideswell is lovely small town with all that you would need and is handy for exploring the Peaks especially the Monsal Trial. Nice bottle of wine was very appreciated. May we suggest an addition of a radio ? Definitely worth a return trip.

Thanks so much . We do appreciate your comments . there is s radio which is built in to the portable CD player next to the microwave Property Owner

  • "What a wonderful cottage in an amazing setting!"

For a week in the centre of all the national park has to offer, the property in Tideswell was perfectly placed for my adventures. Being in the market square is idyllic by itself, and it was easy for me to explore Monsall Trail and Bakewell, Buxton, Eyam, Castleton, Hathersage, Chatsworth and Matlock Bath all by bus on my wheelchair. I recommend the open top bus services that run throughout the summer months. The property was clean, well-designed and homely, complete with all facilities needed for my week's stay. The kitchen was a great space and the bedrooms were a delight, especially the comfort of the beds. Structurally, guests have to manage with the bathroom on a different floor from the bedrooms and a squashed living room. The outside space is useful, though more privacy and greenery would add to one's stay. Overall, I was very happy, would definitely return and recommend it to others.

Thanks for your honest and detailed review, hope you do manage to come and stay again sometime . Many thanks. Glyn and Karen . Property Owner

Well situated near 3 great Pubs (all which serve excellent food) with a local convenience store and Café but a minute or two away which is a must for me due to some disability issues. The cottage itself is on 3 floors which I was aware of prior to booking and although I considered that this would present some small issues for me I wasn't put off and I am so glad I wasn't as I found the stairs to be easily navigable with a little care. I would state at this point though, that for a wheelchair bound customer that this would not be suitable but for me and my family it was perfect. Checking in and out also could not be more convenient as the owners have a great system in place. In a nutshell, a lovely holiday cottage in a great location.

  • "The cottage is ideally located in the village of Tideswell."

The cottage, although spread over 3 floors, is quite small. It was OK for the 2 of us (plus dog) but I would not want to stay here with any more than that. Our biggest issue was that there is no enclosed outdoor space so you have to keep your dog on a lead at all times when sitting outside as you are adjacent to a road (that does get busy sometimes). Tideswell is a lovely village, however, the church bells ring every quarter of an hour, 24 hours per day, which I found very intrusive....especially during the night. We were at least 200m away from the church but they can be clearly heard during the night even with the windows shut! Unsurprisingly this stops people buying property close to the church according to people we spoke to.

The living room is small and would struggle to fit four adults comfortably but if you’re using it as a base to be out and about then it’s perfect. The owners have left lots of items for you including binoculars and a wooden walking stick if required. Only thing I think to mention is if you are two people staying but require separate rooms, then make this known when booking. We arrived to find the second bedroom was not made up as it was assumed a two person booking was a couple (we were but that’s besides the point). • "The cottage was very conveniently set in the centre of Tideswell, walking distance from the cafes, pubs and shops."

The cottage was newly, and beautifully, renovated and the owners extremely kind and thoughtful. The area is beautiful, with fabulous walks within a short drive (nice walks also from the house itself) and lots of places of historical and geographical interest nearby.

  • "We had a lovely time and were really lucky to arrive at the end of Tideswell's 'Wake's Week'."

We joined a torchlight procession that passed the cottage on Saturday night. The owners were vey friendly and explained everything we needed to know on the telephone and even left a bottle of Shiraz to welcome us. The cottage was a great base for visiting Buxton Castleton, Bakewell and Matlock. The kitchen was very swish and we enjoyed using the outdoor seating area overlooking the Market Square.

  • "Entry was difficult because no emails had been answered and we had to phone the company when we arrived."

Not a good start. We feel that for £320 a night for 4 people, we should have had a luxury stay. There was no milk or welcome food pack (eg small loaf, jam, butter, milk to make a small breakfast). The website states entry after 3am and leave before 10am (very early for 4 people with one bathroom on a Sunday!) - not long enough considering the price paid. The shower door and other areas were not very clean and there were no toiletries in the shower area except a bottle of hand washing liquid near the sink and an empty can of air freshener! We had to use that to shower because we thought there would at least be shower gel. There was one hand towel between 4 people! Although the cottage was in a lovely position, for the price charged we expected more luxuries. If we wanted cheap and cheerful, we could have booked that type of accommodation and it would have included a breakfast and probably more facilities.
