Julie & Jason were friendly and on hand if we needed them. We would certainly like to return for another break in the future ❤️❤️

Everything you may need is provided or available, it was extremely clean, warm and plenty of hot water. The only negative for us was that the bed is a little firmer than we like but it wouldn't stop us booking again.

  • "Lovely conversion with everything you need on hand."

Beautifully situated in the heart of the countryside, yet only 15- 30 minutes from Leek, Ashbourne, Matlock and Buxton. We took advantage of some great walks in nearby Dovedale, Ilam and closer to the property there is a beautiful 4 mile round trip to the Star Inn. As a base or just for a chill out away from it all, we would totally recommend The Old Sty.

  • "Wonderful clean and cosy property, simply perfect for two people."

Little extras provided which were not expected but really appreciated. The nod towards the name " Old Sty" in the decor was very tastefully done. Cleanest property we've ever stayed in. Beds really comfortable. With walks/hiking on the agenda, a washing machine verses dishwasher would have been preferable however, we came equipped for hand washing clothing and this wouldn't prevent us booking in the future. Looking forward to staying again.

All the amenities were good quality. We particularly felt the bed was extremely comfortable. As we both suffer with arthritis, the inclusion of a deep bath (shower over the bath) where we could enjoy a couple of hot baths was really beneficial. We wholeheartedy recommend the The Old Sty.

I can’t normally sleep the first night of being away from home, but had no problems at all, the bed was very comfy and the accommodation and facilities were spotless. We new when we booked the Old Sty, there wasn’t much around within walking distance, and that is why we chose this accommodation. There are plenty of nice walks, the nearest pub is 45mins walk away. We had a lovely trip to Dovedale, Alton Towers is only 10 mins drive away. Julie and Jason are very friendly and are only a text away if you need them. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. If you want to get away from it all, this is definitely a place for you. The fresh eggs were lovely too and the welcome pack of biscuits and a bottle of wine was a lovely gesture.

  • "The "Old Sty" was ok and the people were friendly enough, although they were away on holiday the following day for a week."

The problem we had was the extremely uncomfortable beds. So very hard that we may as well have slept on the floor. So bad that after 4 nights I really wanted to come home. I did explain this to the Father in Law who I saw in the yard and he said that he knew they were new beds and could only sympathise. We were taking pain killers before going to bed and again in the morning when we struggled with lack of sleep and pain. The only reason we stayed was the cost of the weeks break. We struggled on until the Thursday and I just couldn't take another night in that bed. So we left a day early and have never been so glad to be back in my own bed. Over many many years we have slept in no end of beds but never ever been so uncomfortable as in those beds.
