  • "Lovely cosy cottage, very convenient location, we had a great stay"

  • "We had a fabulous week here, the cottage has everything you could possibly need and it's clean, comfortable and in a perfect location, in the centre but set back so it's nice and quiet."

Comfy bed so we both slept well. All things considered this cottage was a great choice for us. Needs some nice wine glasses and that would be our only criticism, very enjoyable break.

  • "Location in the heart of the village suited us."

We could walk to get a coffee, and groceries. Double bed was very saggy and really quite uncomfortable. We would encourage the owners to replace it.

  • "This lovely quirky historic building was home from home."

Its position is prime for all Wirksworth treasures. Maybe instructions for the oven and washer would be a bonus

  • "A lovely warm, characterful and cosy place to stay."

Location is excellent. Nearby places to visit. Ideal for dog owners. So close to all amenities yet tucked away and quiet. Facilities are good, however missed not having a separate shower facility/downstairs toilet. Otherwise would highly recommend and would stay at the Coach House again!

  • "Well equipped with everything you need, very clean."

Parking tight but no trouble to get in. Only thing we could have done with is a mat to go in bath as shower is hand held and can be a bit slippery. Town and countryside lovely lots to do and see,. Had a lovely time

  • "We loved this cottage, really, really comfortable and had everything you would need for a short stay."

The cottage is well positioned in the village with great amenities, including dog friendly pubs and lots of lovely walks a short drive away. The nearby meadow made up for a lack of garden and was perfect for early morning and evening toilet breaks. We loved chilling in the cottage in the evening after a busy day and the property owners had thought about that - plenty of board games, music system, books and freeview TV. We also felt our dog was welcome too, sometimes the number of restrictions made on dogs makes it really stressful ( trying to keep them off the furniture, wiping up muddy paws etc) but I got the impression the owners were dog lovers - they had spare bowls and a dog bed, with a request to try and keep dogs off the furniture but with the acknowledgement that dogs will be dogs. I would definitely recommend this cottage, and would most certainly return if we are holidaying in the area again.

  • "It was only after we booked and paid that we had a note from Sykes explaining that the parking area might be a problem for larger vehicles."

We have a VW Passat Estate (not the biggest of cars these days) and it was very tricky, not just to reverse though the gates into the driveway, because of parked cars opposite, but even more so to tuck the car tight up against the property to allow the neighbour (who has shared access and a garage opening onto the drive) to pass with their car. This would have been good to know in advance. Also Sykes only provided directions to the property from one direction despite the fact the owners had more detailed instruction inside the property. Would be good if Sykes published this on their website along with the owners suggestion of how to park. The Coach House itself was very warm and comfortable, beautifully furnished and well equipped, and we felt very much at home. The owners expressed a wish to know if anything else might be added that they missed ....It would have been good to have had a shaver point in the bathroom for rechargeable toothbrush and razor(or at least to have known in advance to bring manual ones). Also would have liked corkscrew and small tumblers for orange juice etc. All in all, lovely stay and Wirksworth was a good base for discovering the Peak District. Many thanks.

  • "Lovely property, spotlessly clean, with everything we needed and more."

Nice to have plenty of good quality kitchen equipment. I'm sure its been mentioned before but all it lacked was a shower but we managed fine and wouldn't put us off from returning. Also very dog friendly with bowls etc and even a bed!! Dog friendly walking area a minute away which was an added bonus.

  • "Thank you - we had a lovely comfortable stay at The Coach House."

The location is fantastic and the house stunning. The meadow just along from the house was great for walking the dog. Not to detract from the stay but just worth people being aware that parking a larger car is slightly awkward - it isn't the whole drive available as it seems from the photo.

  • "Lovely property in a great location."

Parking is great to have and really not difficult but there's plenty of spaces nearby if you don't mind a short walk. Everything in the town is close by as are other destinations. I wish we had been aware there was no shower as that, wasn't easy, we read there was a mixer tap so assumed we could hook it up somewhere and maybe a curtain.

Shops cafes and pubs all close by. We liked the unusual layout of the coach house especially the sitting room which was light and had two comfortable settees. Only the kitchen is compact but there is a separate dining area so that worked well. Our dog had a great time.

it was warm and comfortable, well located for the dog, and near so many attractions. As warned, parking was a bit of a struggle, but at least it had off street parking, other cottages we have used have involved a long walk to the nearest car park.
