"Stayed for 5 nights towards the end of September."
A modern, cosy property, well maintained and with everything that we needed. The log burner was great on a couple of cold damp evenings! Would recommend for a couple.
Thank you for your lovely review and for visiting The Sidings. It was a pleasure to have you. Property Owner

"Really enjoyed our week at the Sidings and would happily stay there again."
Had everything needed and in a nice quiet location but handy for walking to amenities etc. The only thing I would have liked for myself is a slightly brighter reading light above the bed.
Oh thank you for letting us know, we will put a side light in. It really helps when people tell us things we can improve, so thank you Property Owner

"Helpful hosts and lovely accommodation."
-
"The photos on the website make the cottage look larger than it actually was, the bed was really comfortable but the sloping ceiling is a bit of an issue, ok once you’re in bed."
Great location for getting around

"Lovely week in the Sidings."
It's small but beautifuly proportioned & has everything you need and in a great location to explore Wirksworth and surrounding areas. Thanks to Shirley and Kevin for making us feel very welcome. Would also highly recommend the Hope and Anchor for its great food and for a night out the Northern Lights cinema.
Hi Jon, thank you for your lovely feedback. it means a lot when people love our spot in the edge of Wirksworth and to hear when they've enjoyed it as much as you did. See you next time! Property Owner

"A lovely cottage; perfect cosy retreat."
Ideally positioned for visiting Darley Dale and Chatsworth. The gorgeous village of Wirksworth is a 10 minute walk away along the river. Highly recommend

"The Sidings is a well designed very comfortable place to stay We were so impressed from the moment we opened the door ."
Everything we had hoped for was was there for us to enjoy .We felt relaxed and at home . Although the temperature outside was around minus 3 every day we were very warm in the living area and the upstairs. Shirley and Kevin were very friendly and chatty with lots of ideas for us on where to go in the area. The Sidings is in a great location and we found some great walks just a couple of miles away .I highly recommend the sidings as a great base for a restful or active holiday in the Derbyshire peaks
Thank you for your lovely review, James. It was lovely to have you both. Property Owner

"Nice cottage and location."
the only faults i found was the sloping ceiling in the bedroom.my wife had to be very careful getting out of bed and the shower was a bit small.[don't drop the soap] but i would stay again.

"The Sidings is a lovely cottage, comfortable and well maintained."
It has its own unique character. Ideal for visiting the Peak District. A very easy walk into Wirksworth which only takes 10 minutes. Lovely shops and people. Shirley (owner) was welcoming and informative. We are very much hoping to return. Seeing the steam train pass by the cottage was an added treat. Thank you

"We received a very warm welcome from Shirley."
The Sidings is a very cosy, comfortable place to stay. An easy walk into Wirksworth and lots of good walking from the doorstep. We enjoyed being able to see the steam train running past the house.

"Very relaxed break."
Lovely clean and well equipped cottage, plenty of room for two, good shower (so many in other places are either weak and feeble or not hot enough) 10 minute walk to the town centre with cinema, several restaurants, shops and a preservation railway.

Lots of guest information and welcoming host.

"We had a lovely holiday at The Sidings."
The cottage is in a quiet location which is convenient for the town, the heritage railway and many walking and cycling trails. The owners were very friendly and welcoming but not intrusive. We would love to return.

"Walked from here most days using the minimap."
Returned by bus occassionally. Expect some steep hills.

"Beautifully designed modern cottage, well-equipped kitchen, great location, friendly & helpful owners - we'll be back!"
WiFi limited while we were there , owners looking at ways to improve it (& up our stars for facilities to 5). The bench outside has been moved since an earlier review, now opposite the house's front door /next to & screened from owners' front door - catches the sun, and feels private while allowing an occasional catch-up. Lots of ingenious storage in the cottage- remember to check it all when you leave!

"The Sidings is small but is well appointed with pretty much everything you need."
Space for storage is limited but we managed well for our week. The bed is very comfortable although access for the person laying on the left side is tricky. It is a quiet location; the preserved railway which runs along side only has a few trains per week and didn't impact us at all. The only negative for us was the futon sofa which we found extremely uncomfortable. Wirksworth is a nice small market town with the usual mix of shops, cafes, etc., and easy access to places of interest further afield. There are several good walks too.

"The cottage and hosts were lovely."
Sykes as a company are sending way too much spam, and for example, sent automatic check out information - which we didn't need because we already knew it - on the wrong day of our stay. I want to be clear that the 'recommendation' score is about the Sykes experience, not the holiday cottage experience.

"A wonderful place to stay, everything about it was good."
-
"What a gorgeous little treasure."
Cosy, romantic and nicely hidden away but close enough to anything you might need. Cannot fault our holiday at The Sidings, in driving/walking distance of different walks and attractions, we particularly enjoyed our walk to the star disc, and blue lagoon. Great place for couples seeking time away from a busy life, in seek of peace and tranquility. The cottage itself is a lovely size, perfect for two, with everything you might need, we personally loved that the facilities enabled us to cook our own meals which made things extra special and romantic for us. Additionally the friendly owners are always on hand if needed, or if you seek any information for advice.

"The Sidings is a clean and cosy cottage."
The owners are lovely and attentive if anything is needed. The location is perfect, about 7 minutes in to village centre and 10/15 minute walk from many walking trials. Will definitely be visiting again.
-
"I found The Sidings to be a very quiet and comfortable place to stay with everything you need to make yourself a home away from home."
The owners are very friendly and welcoming, and very informative with lots of useful information about the local area of Wirksworth, and also the Peak District in general. The main purpose of my visit was to walk the Tissington & High Peak Trails and I found The Sidings the perfect location to access this area from. I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone and will certainly be returning myself at some point
-

The Cottage was lovely and quiet top marks

"The Sidings is a wonderful place to explore the local area, Shirley the owner was a wonderful host and went out of her way to ensure everything was perfect."
If you are a Railway enthusiast this the place to stay being right next to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, the upstairs window being the perfect place to sit and watch the trains go by. I throughly enjoyed my stay and will be returning at some point in the future for another visit
-
"Lovely property within walking distance of Wirksworth."
Not as private as we expected as joined on to a property next door & facing the owners house but was a lovely relaxing break & the owners, Shirley & Kevin, were very helpful & friendly. Wirksworth is a lovely town & a great base for visiting places in the Peak District National Park.
-
"No it was what we needed quiet weekend break close to town."
log fire great. wee birdies singing in morning. thinking of going again.
-

"The Sidings is the perfect peaceful hideaway for two."
Immaculately presented, this cosy cottage contains all you could possibly want, and more, for a comfortable stay in a lovely part of the country. Owners Shirley and Kevin made us feel so welcome and have thought of everything with so many extra little touches which make all the difference. Clever storage is well thought out and a comfy bed ensures a great night's sleep. Quaint and quirky Wirksworth, a short and pleasant stroll away from the property, offers an abundance of amenities from shops to eateries to pubs and is a charming town. We have discovered a beautiful area which we intend to revisit at the earliest opportunity. We may even bring along the walking boots next time around!
