  • "A lovely historical cottage in a wonderful setting, with amazing views."

It was quiet and peaceful, with footpaths from the door. The cottage was warm and comfortable, and well equipped. We loved the old wood beams and stone walls, and holidaying in such an ancient building.

  • "This property is wonderful and hearing the history of it from the lovely owner just adds to its magic."

Very clean, well stocked kitchen of pots and pans. The gesture of fresh milk, bubbly and chocolates was a welcomed extra. The only thing that could possibly benefit the experience would be the outside seating area. The table is on a slant and we were unable to use it. Perhaps a flattened patio area would be appropriate to enable guests to eat Al fresco, especially as we had wonderful weather. A very pleasant stay, thank you.

  • "As a party of six 70 + ladies who like walking, we had a wonderful time at Wyndell Cruck Cottage."

The owners Barbara and Frank were very welcoming and offered much appreciated advice on where to walk. However access to the cottage was a third of a mile up a narrow, rough track. While this information was available to us from the owners a week prior to our visit it would have been more appropriate to have had this on the Sykes site. As this terrain wouldn’t be a problem for everyone there were members of our group who found the walk and also the drive to and from the cottage challenging. Having that information would have led to us looking elsewhere that better suited our needs. We did give this feedback to the owners and also recommended that they offered a better outside seating area that offered some shade even if just a parasol.

It was clean, well resourced and the owners were very helpful. The only improvement would be to tidy up the area in the front of the house to create a nicer seating space. The cottage was lovely though and I would thoroughly recommend it.

The cottage itself is a work of art , so beautiful and kept immaculate by Frank and Barbara. The kitchen is so well equipped and they seem to have thought of everything. The surroundings make it so peaceful and nature is thriving. Location was great with an activity centre only 10 min walk away where we did some kayaking and the olde mustard pot pub a 25 min walk. Frank and Barbara were so accommodating and couldn't of been more helpful. Highly recommend

  • "This was a perfect property for a university reunion of 7 x 64 yr old graduates ."

There was great scope wit the 3 large bedrooms to accommodate the snoring within the group , and the kitchen has everything we needed , with lots of mockery , cutlery , pots and pans . the lane proved interesting for one of our group , who had just taken delivery of a new car , but then all was forgiven , when you realise you are truly out in the country. we all watched the hares in the field from our breakfast table. bathrooms , heating were all spot on , and Barbara, was on hand to offer advice and guidance on the local area, with walks and pub options. 4 of our group played golf at STOCKSBRIDGE GC ......unlikly we would go back , as its extremely hilly , and tight , with too many fairway crossovers and greens too close to tee off areas. someone suggested Sickleholme GC as a better option , which is approx 14 miles away , and close to the walking highlight of Mam Tor and Castleton village , which was a superb area In total a fabulous cottage / Barn

The house is truly amazing, the photos do not do it justice. All rooms were immaculate, bedding all clean, kitchen well equipped, they've thought of everything. The perfect place to celebrate my 30th birthday with friends. My only tiny piece of constructive feedback is that larger towels would be good! Other than that, gorgeous setting, beautiful house, perfect weekend. We will be back for sure, thanks so much.
