• "The Manor House is a fantastic place for a family get together."

  We loved the fact it was all on one floor, so we were always together. The whole house is well equipped to a really high standard. The outdoor space, like the house itself, is brilliant, well kept and spacious. Great to have the children's play area and the hot tub. We had an issue with the hot water, it was sorted within an hour - you could not ask for more.

  It was had pretty much everything you could need to enable to enjoy the stay quickly. One of the sofas isn’t comfortable to sit on especially as we had some older people with us but there were other sofas to use that were ok.

  The house is lovely, has great facilities and was a fantastic size for a group of 10 girls - we had a great weekend. The only slight issue we had was we came away as a group of 10 and the hot tub is a big part of why we rent certain houses and it’s simply not big enough for the amount of people The house holds which was a shame! :(

  All the bedrooms were good size and the kitchen was well equipped to our needs. The hot tub was lovely, we struggled getting it warm initially but the owner was on hand to give the correct instructions to get it going.

• "An accurate listing of the facilities would provide even better knowledge pre-arrival - eg, we were delighted to find 2 ovens and 2 kettles which made catering for 8-10 people so much easier."

  The Manor House has very spacious rooms and living accommodation, all is decorated to a very nice standard. Outside space is extensive, easy to park 6 cars, our 3 year old loved the swings/ slide and play house. Hot tub was well used by the adults. Everywhere was clean and easy to keep so.

• "The cottage was the perfect place to celebrate my 70th birthday."

  It was a beautiful house with lovely gardens and had everything we could possibly have needed , including shower seats which were really helpful for my husband who had mobility problems. We were a mixed group from aged 5 to 85 but there was something to keep everybody happy. I would definitely recommend this property .

• "We were four generations staying here, during which we celebrated an 89th birthday."

  The accommodation is spread over one level with easy access for a Mobilty walker through the front entrance and rear patio door. The hot tub was well used. There is an excellent pub, the Three Cottages within walking distance. I would say that the photographs do not do justice to the Manor House. It is nicer than they would suggest. Thank you to the owners who left well appreciated gifts.

  Doors and corridors wide enough to take a wheelchair or rollator. Extra facilities - gym and hot-tub appreciated by some members of our party. Electronically controlled gate ensures privacy. I would definitely recommend this as a holiday home.

• "Overall we had a great stay at Manor House."

  the house is a lovely size and the new hot tub was great! The grounds around the property are also beautiful. Unfortunately, the property wasn’t as clean as we’d hoped when we arrived, we had to wipe all of the surfaces down, brush crumbs off the sofa and hoover the living room.

  Apologies our cleaners do try there best but please if things get missed, then either call Gabby (the cleaner) or me and we'll put it right. Both are numbers are available in the welcome pack. Property Owner

• "We were a party of 4 couples aged late 60's - 70's some less mobile than others."

  The Manor house was perfect for us. The seating and beds were extremely comfortable. The professional chef in our party was very impressed with the kitchen and all it's utensils. We had only been there 3 days when we booked again for next year.

• "If I could give 4."

  5 I would have , the reason for losing marks on cleanness - cobwebs - which we removed , windows we cleaned them in the kitchen , A full loaded dishwasher that had to be emptied and it was really stacked - I don’t expect to have to do that and the bbq was disgraceful , green furry mould on the grill .clearly this has not been looked at for ages so can’t blame the previous guests. Another couple of things the internal jacuzzi had not been cleaned when it was switched on it covered the children in black slime we had the clean it ourselves , finally there was a leak in the bathroom near the utility from the toilet , we reported it and service was excellent repaired same day . All of that aside this would be a 5!star property , quality of the fixtures and fittings are great , well Stocked kitchen with utensils, plates, glasses and cutlery . Masses of space for families or friends not to fairly on top of each other . Ample parking , massive outdoor space with the immaculate hot tub and children’s play area . We would book property again as I’m sure the points I’ve feedback on will be acted on seeing how well they dealt with the leak . Overall loved this property , location and feel of the place - it has the wow factor from the moment you drive along the road to it , it is stunning ! You won’t be disappointed booking a holiday here .

Molly Maid apologizes profusely and are going to allow extra time to remove cobwebs every change over day and deal with the other issues you mentioned. The BBQ was a complete oversight as they incorrectly assumed that no one would be using it in winter as no one appears to have over the last couple of months, and the dishwasher also appears to have been missed. When we are made aware of problems we do our best to solve them as quickly as possible as we want guests to enjoy staying with us. Property Owner

• "We had a great time here."

  We were a family of 10 ranging from 2-65. It had enough space for all of us and plenty of bathrooms. It’s in a lovely area, beautiful views and close to a small town. We got a food order delivered no problems when we arrived. The house and kitchen were well equipped. The only thing we found to be missing was a whisk and a clothes horse. Neither were a major issue. As we stayed in winter drying some clothes were hard without a clothes horse. The gym and hot tub were a great addition to the house. The kids loved the space inside and out. The play area was perfect for the two 5 year olds. A few things that need maintenance: - The door from the gym to outside doesn’t unlock. - There were cobwebs everywhere, every room floor and ceilings. A good clean all over would be useful. - Some of the glasses are so thin cleaning them they just split. The thicker champagne flutes were better and will prevent less breakages. - Maybe some local walking routes if you know any added to the book. - One of the double beds is really soft, and it dips at the edges, so hard for 2 adults to sleep in it comfortably. We loved our stay, we are fairly local but would definitely stay here again with a large group. Perfect for a family or friends get together.

I was surprised that there was any cobwebs at the property as it was due a deep clean which normally takes care of cobwebs on the day you checked in, however this was not carried out. But I was completely unaware until reading your feedback. The cleaners have apologised and the job has been done since. I will also see if I can buy some better quality champagne glasses. The gym door is being replaced shortly as it was broken by a previous guest and it was not repairable. However there is another door around the corner from this one. Property Owner

• "We had a fabulous family Christmas at Manor House."

  Plenty of space, fabulous kitchen, spacious lounge and we really enjoyed the hot tub (morning, noon and night)! Was great for our elderly relatives and would be idea for any wheelchair users too. Close to Bakewell and Chatsworth for trips out, lots of shops and supermarkets nearby for supplies too. The house had been decorated up for Christmas and one small maintenance issue was dealt with swiftly and kindly. Would highly recommend and we hope to return again.

• "This property is even more beautiful than on the website photos."

  It’s so spacious, our grandchildren throughly enjoyed running the length of the huge corridor and had a great time exploring the garden too. The adult members enjoyed the gym facilities too. Definitely, a super place to visit with an extended family. The underfloor heating meant the house was very warm despite its size, at times a bit too warm as it seemed wasteful to open the windows and doors but this was the only way to bring down the temperature.

• "The owners need to spend money on the property."

  It is showing signs of age, the mat by door is worn out, warming drawer is not working, dishwasher tray wheels missing, bench cover ripped, pendant light in kitchen appears to be hanging from it's wires, treadmill not working unable to open door from gym, bathroom for two bedrooms lock needs adjusting, mixture of colours in pendant lights in 4 of the bedrooms, master en-suite doors to patio locked and no keys, surely the hot water problem could be solved with a cylinder in the cupboard in the bedroom! We booked this property to take our family away for our golden wedding anniversary! It is nearing breaking the trades description.

We rely on guests advising us of any defects that occur during their stay so we can remedy them and our cleaning staff have not mentioned any of the problems you mention in your feedback. If problems occur during your stay, our numbers and that of the housekeeper are in the welcome pack, or you could have contacted Sykes directly. We did try to contact you prior to your stay to warn about the treadmill, we are negotiating with suppliers as it appears they supplied a faulty product, but the telephone number you gave with your booking did not work. A previous guest ripped the bench and unfortunately, I am advised that this cannot be repaired in situ, therefore I have blocked out time already and planning to be remove and reupholster the bench. We have a separate cylinder for hot water in the loft, it just takes a while longer for it to reach the bathroom in the end bedroom. Property Owner

• "Firstly can I say that the property met our needs to have a family holiday with our 3 children their partners and 2 grandchildren."

  The space was great! and the weather helped. It's proximity to the Derbyshire Dales and Chatsworth House (gardens are amazing) was a real benefit. The beds were comfortable and the fans provided helped during the hot weather. We had no problems with bathrooms etc. BBQ was awesome! I would like to make some minor comments for the owner just around some 'tiredness' to certain aspects that could be resolved at minimal cost. (1) The swing and play slide needs some attention - it was fine for our 4 yr old and 2 yr old, but was creaking with an 8 yr old. Some remedial repairs are needed before it falls apart. (2) The TV speakers were 'blown' I suspect they have been played at high level in the past and been damaged they are fine at lower volume levels but are distorted at higher volumes. I would recommend a new modern "smarter" TV with a sound system that also has bluetooth connectivity for playing music. (3) Gym was great, treadmill fine for walking paces but sounded like the bearings were falling to pieces at running speeds with someone on . Suggest a bit of maintenance required (might just need greasing)! (4) Provide an indoor airer a stand up rack would do or a ceiling mounted rack. The tumble drier was fine but an airer is more eco-friendly and would save you some pennies in the long run. (5) Very minor but the master bedroom (which my wide and I used) only has a double bed in it. The room is huge and looks like it originally had a king size in it (from socket layout) Suggest put a king size bed in! (6) Finally we vacuumed during the week. Initially the supplied Dyson vacuum was useless and had no suction. Luckily I am an engineer and like a challenge. During the week we washed and dried both filters in the vacuum (Should be done every 3 months) after which the vacuum was fine (your welcome!). (7) Some cleaning products might be helpful - we bought our own kitchen degreaser and anti-bac for our stay but if you want to hit the "luxury" tag then perhaps provide something. (8) Garden is amazing find someone who likes gardening and let them have a go at the beds they could be stunning. (9) I would remove/sell the greenhouse. It is not being used, is a bit of an eyesore and is potentially dangerous for young children. Get yourself some cash for it! (10) We bought reclining garden chairs with us. Perhaps provide 4 reclining chairs or 4 sun loungers for the huge patio area! Again hit that "luxury" tag I hope the above is taken in the right way! None of the above really adversely impacted our stay "the house did the job" but if you want to 'hit the nail' then I politely suggest you consider the above all of which are not costly ticket items and these did cross our minds during the week!

  Hi, thank you for your feedback, we always appreciate hearing what we could do to enhance our guests' stay with us! We were aware of the climbing frame and had ordered a new one which has been fitted today (5th July) and a new separate swing set so we hope this will benefit future guests. The treadmill was actually new on 5th June so it might need breaking in rather than there being a wear and tear problem with it. The bed in the master bedroom is a King size, but we are looking to possibly upgrade this to a four poster in the future. I'm sorry about the lack of cleaning products, we do aim to supply these but sometimes people take things home with them and we don't always spot them being missing. We hope if you decide to visit again in the future you will enjoy the new things we are always adding to Manor House-watch this space! Property Owner

• "Excellent accommodation."

  Fully equipped. Clean. Ample space. Ideally place for a family get together for a birthday celebration. Weather all week was fab, so made full use of patio and eating outside. Didn't use the gym! Great base with very nice golf course only 5 mins away, Pottery Bee 5 mins, Hardwick Hall 15 mins, Bakewell 25 mins, Crich Tram museum 25 mins.

• "Overall the cottage was as per our last visit, however we think that the cleaning was not up to scratch, especially the kitchen and lounge where there was a lot of dust and cobwebs both on the floor and ceiling, several toilet seats need attention."

  The kitchen could do with more equipment especially mixing bowls and scales. More glass tumblers would also be good. That said we had another great stay our 3rd and will be looking to book again.

• "As two families totalling 10 people, we needed large accommodation and Manor House was perfect."

  It was spacious, clean, very well presented and had everything we needed. Good location for access to the Peaks and shops nearby for topping up food stocks. Asda driver found the property with no problem for a food delivery. The kitchen was well equipped, especially as we did eat in every night. The only point we would make is, we felt the football table may have been better placed in a different area of the house, our children are aged between 14 and 6 so it was difficult if the teenagers wanted to play football and the younger ones wanted to watch a film. We would definitely stay at Manor House again and highly recommend.

• "This was our third time at The Manor House."

  We are a family group of five couples and having 5 separate bathrooms is perfect for us. There’s also a dining table big enough to seat us all for evening meals. Our only comment is that the house is always far too hot. We had to open all the windows in order to get it to a comfortable temperature as the control panels didn’t appear to work. Otherwise it’s a great house for a group of people.

  It was perfectly suited to the various needs of different members of our party. It was very easy for a grandparent who had mobility issues, as there were no steps or uneven surfaces. The open plan bathrooms also made it easy for showering. The beds were all very comfortable and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. The outside seating was a pleasure to relax in, with views over the fields. Would definitely recommend, especially to those with mobility issues.

• "We had a wonderful family get together at Manor House and would certainly return again if the opportunity arose."

  The accommodation is very spacious and with 10 of us staying there (6 adults and 4 children aged 4-16) we by no means felt on top of each other. The grounds are also fantastic with plenty of space for playing and relaxing outdoors. The house is very well equipped. The only things we felt were lacking were some kitchen scales and a few more pegs for hanging out washing. All in all, we had a very comfortable stay here and would highly recommend this holiday home.

• "We found that the exterior of the property no to be particularly child friendly."

  Here's why..... There's an empty glass greenhouse to the side which is very dangerous should the children have run in to it. lots of stinging nettles & brambles close to the wendy house and the play equipment. On another note, with the amount paid to hire the property it is the first time we have ever had to strip the bed linen from all the beds and collect all the towels ready for the cleaners..... surely that's what they get paid for!!

• "The Manor House was a great space for our multi- generational group of ten."

  Our four grand children aged between 5 and 10 yrs old had lots of fun playing in the house and beautifully kept, safe grounds. The table football in the lounge was also a big hit. The house was generally clean and well equipped with comfy beds and pristine linens and ideal for a large group like ours. However as it was our "home" for the week I did clean the worst of the marks off the kitchen cabinet fronts and lounge carpet, which took minutes. I agree with the previous review that the house especially the carpets, kitchen and patio furniture need a good clean and minor repairs completed like the torn bench seat in the kitchen. worn toilet set (underside ) in the first bedroom, dripping tap in the master en-suite bath and very stiff catches on the bedroom doors. Despite the above I would recommend the house especially for a large group as we had a thoroughly enjoyable week, loved the space in the house and there are good local amenities, pub, chip shop, park and shops a few minutes away. The house is also an ideal base for exploring the Peak District and popular attractions are a short distance away. This lovely house just needs a little bit of extra care and attention to bring it back up to it former five star rating.

• "The property was beautiful, with adequate space for 10 people who could comfortably live together without feeling on top of each other."

  I felt the property was clean, but could do with a deep clean. I appreciate in a property of this size, a deep clean is not possible in the 6 hour turnaround time, however I do feel this is needed. Its small things, the bathrooms were clean, but a lot of cobwebs and spiders in the corners. The kitchen sinks could do with a good bleach, and the carpets looked like they would benefit from a shampoo. Lastly, some additional pegs for hanging washing would be fab. The toilet in the bathroom in the utility area wouldnt flush, my husband being a plumber managed to flush it and avoid embarrasment for the relative using it, but just a heads up that this would need attended to. Overall we had a fantastic time and wouldnt hesitate to stay again.

• "The Manor house looked big from the photos of it and, in actual fact, even bigger in real life."

  It was enormous, thoroughly modern and well-equipped. We were met with chocolates, prosecco and flowers upon arrival, and this thoughtfulness said much about the owners and the quality that they had imbued the Manor House with. It was such a lovely place to stay and just oozed class. Seven of us stayed and there was more than enough room for us to have some privacy when we wanted it and some party space when we wanted that too. Incredibly the property had five bathrooms, each one spacious and luxurious. I have stayed in many cottages and cannot recall any with space and luxury that the Manor House provided. What a great place to stay, and near to the beautiful Peak District. I recommend the cottage highly. Classy, excellent value for money, and considerate and unobtrusive owners.

  Whether on one level (no stairs) for the very young, outdoor play equpment / large grounds for the slighly older and a lovely kitchen and lounge for the more mature!. Kitchen / dining room and utilities need special mention as double oven very helpful for large number catering.. Would definitely stay again!

  The photos do not do justice to the size, scale and quality of this property and the thrill of entering through electric gates! It is in a secluded position but also very close to some excellent local amenities and a great starting point for trips into the Peak District. The size of the property and extensive grounds means even when at full capacity everyone has their own space and it does not feel cramped - as previously commented the photos do not give you the true scale of this property.   The house itself is very spacious with all amenities provided. The place is well looked after and has a classy feel to it. There is parking for 4/5 cars easily, and the house is just remote enough to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside and walks. We definitely recommend Manor House, and we will certainly return when we next visit the Peak District.

• "We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Manor House and already eager to return!"

  6 adults, 2 adult teenagers, 1 child and an infant could not have wanted for anything at this amazing property. The inside is so spacious and the outside great for kicking a ball around according to our 3 year old! We were very lucky with the weather this weekend and enjoyed sitting outside, loved how peaceful and private it was. The property was immaculately clean, very well equipped and within easy access of shops. We made contact with the owner prior to arrival who was very helpful. The only suggestion i would have made was leave instructions about how to turn the heating down, although cosy it was stifling, particularly overnight, we were in the room with french doors and for security were reluctant to leave open overnight. I would also say the beds are small doubles which for a short stay we could put up with but at 5ft 8 my feet were off the end of the bed, never asked those in our party who were 6ft and above. Overall, a fabulous property that caters for all ages that we would highly recommend.

• "What a great house!"

  The entrance is striking in it's proportions and height. The kitchen is superb for entertaining with a cosy circular table. The bedrooms are all of a very good size with five ample bathrooms. The lounge has a lovely aspect across the countryside. The only downside was it was too warm, we had to open the windows to cool down. We'll book again.

  Set back within its own grounds so very quiet, and the house itself if massive and very well equipped for a large group stay. The kitchen and bedrooms we really spacious most were en-suite and spotlessly clean when we arrived. The kids also loved the huge garden. Chesterfield is just gown the road too. The local pub the three cottages was only 10 minutes walk too! It served lovely food and was friendly too!! Will definitely be back to stay here again

• "Wow! What can I say!"

  This property is amazing and we knew it was big but it was HUGE! Beautifully furnished and super clean when we arrived. So much space for us all and with 4 kids and 4 adults that was just what we wanted. We were 2 families with children ages 2-9 and they had a lot of freedom around the outside of the property which was very safe and secure. They spent many an hr roaming the perimeter of the property in the gardens and playing on the children’s equipment. The kitchen was where we enjoyed lots of family meals and again all fully equipped to a high standard. Within short drives was plenty to do and we truly enjoyed our week in the Manor House and fully intend to return.....The owner was very quick to respond to an inquiry before hand and was very accommodating. 5 stars and some!

• "Manor House was home to us ( 4 couples) for 4 nights on our annual pre christmas getaway."

  It was a very cold,frosty early December weekend but the house was beautifully warm at all times. The bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds and plenty of storage and the best equiped kitchen we have had in 10 years of these holidays. We enjoyed the log burner during the evenings. We visited Chatsworth, Hardwick Hall and Kedleston House during our time in Derbyshire and enjoyed a lovely pub lunch in Clay Cross (The Three Horseshoes). The traffic noise might be an issue in summer months but we couldnt hear any when indoors. We wouldn't hesitate to book this lovely house again.

• "The house was excellent and was just right for 9 of us."

  Plenty of room and very private with a lovely garden all round. Perfect location for days out in the Peak District. Unfortunately, apart from the master suite, the bedrooms and bathrooms were let down by the fact that there were no surfaces to put anything on. There were no dressing tables, no bathroom shelves etc. so nowhere to stand toiletries, make up, or any other items. A full length mirror, somewhere in the house, would also have been helpful.

  The house was enormous so we had plenty of room. We had everything we needed and there was only 2 things that could improve it. One is it could do with maybe a hot tub! And the second is the WiFi could do with improving. When we tried to get onto it it wasn’t possible even when just one person tried. Very intermittent signal. Could do with boosters. Other than that it was perfect. Definitely would use this house again.

  We had plenty of space for our family of ten, with very comfortable bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and great accessibility for a wheelchair user. The kitchen is very user friendly with space for us all to enjoy preparing and eating family meals. In fact we never used the dining room as the kitchen was so easy with our wide range of family. There was plenty of room in the lounge and the children enjoyed having so much space in the house. The gym area was appreciated but the garden was a massive bonus. The play area looks well used, but was well used again by our children. The massive space was terrific for our Easter egg hunt. Views from the garden are very pretty but the immediate area is not particularly appealing. However access to places we wanted to visit was absolutely fine. We all struggled to find the house initially and definitely needed electronic help. Maybe slightly more detailed directions would be useful.

  It potentially has 6 bedrooms as we put the baby cot in the study. And it is very comfortable although the temperature of the heating is not easily controlled so we were very hot at times but the owners responded very quickly to our request to reduce it a bit. Great garden and play equipment for children. Good location for visiting the area.

• "The Manor House is a fantastic property and thoroughly exceeded our expectations."

  Often properties that accommodate large groups fail to provide enough seating in the sitting room and dining areas. We were 5 couples and enjoyed having a bathroom per couple so no waiting around when getting ready to go out. The house is heated via underfloor heating which is very warm (often we had to open the windows). The kitchen area is very well equipped and again a large round table seats 10. We couldn’t have improved the accommodation in any way and have already decided that we’d like to return next year.

• "We had a wonderful weekend break with the family despite the weather."

  The house was perfect for our needs and was great for our two year old grandson to use the space and not get under everybody's feet. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to make much use of the large garden but we did make an apple pudding from some of the windfalls! A couple of suggestions : The two white frying pans did not work on the induction hob so are essentially useless, however the other pans were great and diverse. A knife sharpener would be useful. We also suggest you update the photo of the front of the house as it now looks more attractive with the more mature garden. Hopefully we pretty much left the house as we found it.

  The grandchildren had the run of the house and the garden. They didn't have time to become bored, the play house and the play frame kept them entertained throughout the week. Seeing the hares visiting us in the mornings was wonderful, for the children to see such lovely animals outside of a zoo excited them. We would holiday there in a heartbeat.

• "We selected this property as it was central to our family members and provided the accommodation we needed for a family celebration of 2 birthdays during our stay."

  The location was ideal and provided us with the opportunity to enjoy the delights of the area, in particular Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Bakewell at a less frenetic time of the year, especially as the venues were putting on Christmas events. The fact that the grounds were large meant that the grandchildren could enjoy a safe runaround and they thoroughly enjoyed being able to make snowmen due to the snowfall on the Saturday night (not only the grandchildren it must be added). The accommodation was very spacious and at no stage did we feel on top of each other with the added bonus that there was no queuing or waiting for a bathroom. There were a couple of very small issues which we reported to the owners but those issues did not affect the overall satisfaction with the property and its facilities. Mr and Mrs Southall
