  • "Lovely little cottage, and a gem of a find."

When we arrived the cottage hadn’t been cleaned from the previous renters, but we spoke to Vicky, and the cleaners were there within 10 minutes. Seems there had been a little confusion about our arrival time! Storm in a teacup, and sorted out very efficiently. The views from the cottage were amazing, and the local walks equally so. The parking is a little tricky, and we ended up parking in the high street (not in the car park as recommended) and walking. This had the daily benefit of allowing us to stop at the excellent and friendly village shop after a day out (or the pub from a quick pint if it takes your fancy!). The cottage is well equipped and comfy and a great base to access local attractions. We spent wonderful days at Dovedale, Heights of Abraham and Alton Towers amongst overs. All within a 35minutes drive. Couple of points that may help improve the enjoyment for others… A lamp in the dining room would be great, as it is either full ceiling light or no light at all. We weren’t sure what to do with rubbish, recycling or composting. Clearer instructions would be a really helpful. Oh, and look out for the hot air balloons, we saw them two days running…

Thank you for providing feedback and suggestions on how to improve, we really appreciate your idea's. It's no problem to move one of the lamps from the lounge if this suits you, we will look to improve the sign on rubbish and recycling to try to make it clearer. we are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage in a picturesque village."

Good sized accommodation with 3 decent bedrooms and good downstairs space. Limited outdoor space, but very easy access to a number of open areas within minutes of the front door, and a number of excellent walks ranging from 1 mile to 5-6 without having to drive anywhere. Only one bathroom / toilet is the only minor challenge. 2 very welcoming pubs in the village for refreshments / food and easy access to Bakewell, Matlock for alternatives Limited parking space, but good instructions provided as to where to leave the car once unloaded.

  • "We enjoyed our stay in Bradley House, the little welcome pack with tea, coffee etc was a lovely touch, the kitchen is quite well equipped."

The washing line and airer came in very handy. The beds are very comfortable. We had one little niggle, there are lots of things we expected to supply ourselves but not toiletpaper, we had been left two rolls of cheap paper! if there was two females staying for a week it would not have lasted, as it was I used the last three sheets just before vacating the property, can I suggest either more rolls or better quality toilet paper be supplied. We would recommend this property to anyone staying in the area, the village is also extremely pretty and the locals very friendly.

Thank you for the feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed the property and the village. Thank you for the feedback, and for the recommendation!!! We will sort this out. Best wishes Adam and Victoria Property Owner

A well equipped and cosy cottage which made our holiday very relaxing. It was unseasonably cold for late April so we really appreciated the log burner.

A very-well equipped and comfortable cottage in a beautiful village. It would have helped to have more detailed location information as we did struggle to find the cottage initially, not ideal in torrential rain!

  • "I just spent a fantastic four days in the village of Winster and can't recommend it enough."

I used it as a base for going on dog walks in the Peak District and generally discovering the local area. The village is fantastic, one shop, two pubs within easy walking distance and a steep hill in between them. You can also walk to the nearby villages of Birchover and Elton if you want to try more pubs out. In my time here I climbed Mam Tor, Chrome Hill (aka the Dragons back which features in Peaky Blinders), visited Darley Dale, Matlock, Earl Sterndale, Ashford in the water, Monsal Head, the plague village of Eyam, the cliffs at Stanage Edge, the John Blue Caverns, had a tart in Bakewell, took my daughter horse riding at Northfields farm in Flash nr Buxton and got drunk on several occasions in the Miner's Standard, a 5 minute walk from Bradley House. The cottage is lovely, all the charm of a really old building but with the modern comforts like Central heating and WiFi which we don't want to admit we need but let's be honest.......The kitchen, Living room, bathroom and bedrooms were all perfect, very comfortable, lovely and clean, couldn't have wished for more. I had my 48kg Ridgeback with me and he loved it too. There's hardly any traffic in the meandering lanes that thread through Winster so I wasn't worried about him getting out and there's a little yard at the back too. I would genuinely love to come back to Bradley House, thanks Adam for making my stay perfect.

Thank you for providing such lovely feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday. We would be delighted if you decided to return to Bradley House (as would the lady in the shop Property Owner

  • "Super cottage."

Very well set out and perfect for what we needed. Very well equipped and stunnng views ftom bedroom windows. We would certainly use again. Just one thought. 2 single beds in the 2nd room or beds that could join together if needed would have been easier for 12 and 14 year old boys who didn't want to share a bed!!

Great suggestion Joan. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Glad you had an enjoyable stay. Best wishes Property Owner

  • "What a gem!"

Everything is as described and photos do not do the property justice. Downstairs is cute and homely and has some quirky features. The upstairs is more spacious and comfortable than we thought, we only used the king size bedroom but it was super comfy. Everything has been thought about for guests including a welcome folder with all the information we could need, leaflets about the local area, and the kitchen is stocked with all the accessories you would need including some treats left for our arrival, Milk, cookies and doggie biscuits! The views are amazing and as the owners mentioned the steep hills will keep you fit. The location is perfect for walking routes, and only a 2 min walk to the nearest pub who serve great food, the other pub is only a 5 min walk. The owners were very responsive to us, would highly recommend and will stay again.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday. Thank you for taking the time to provide such fantastic feedback!!! Property Owner

About the location

WINSTER

Bakewell 6 miles; Matlock 4.5 miles.

The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village there is a well-stocked, community-owned general store incorporating a Post Office. There are two pubs, both serving food and traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. The Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, with bike hire available, both lie less than 5 miles from the village, a wonderful base for exploring the Peak District.
