"A lovely property, very well-presented and very well-equipped."
Lovely and warm and comfortable. We loved the wood burner. The garden/outdoor area looked great but we didn't use it in the chilly October weather. There are no shops in the village (we knew that - personal info and a look at google street view) but there's a Morrison's, an an excellent M&S and an Aldi about six miles away, on the edge of St Andrews. The Peat Inn is expensive but excellent and there are plenty of other places to eat nearby - try Meldrum's in lovely Ceres. The countryside and coastal towns nearby are lovely and the views driving towards St Andrews superb. What's not to like. Communication with the owners was good. We would be more than happy to return to this delightful cottage in this lovely location. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back again soon. Property Owner

"Enjoyable stay in a warm & comfy cottage."
Definitely recommend the Peat Inn for a special meal. Please note that the cottage is compact for 4 adults but as caravanners we managed ! Everything needed for an enjoyable stay was provided. We adhered strictly to the numerous requested instructions - arrival & departure times / bin emptying / bedding removal on departure etc. However when I tried to contact the owners to report some maintenance issues for the benefit of future guests all 3 numbers provided went unanswered, so I eventually left a voicemail on the 1st number for Dawn. At no point has anyone acknowledged my message or attempted to remedy any of the issues. It was also somewhat strange to receive a call from Sykes on the penultimate day of our stay to ask why we hadn’t arrived ! At least I was able to tell them of the said issues. All very strange…..
Thanks Martin for your feedback and we are glad you found the cottage comfy and cosy. I have spoken with you today to apologies for not replying to your message. This was a genuine oversight and I had not seen your message during your stay. As I explained we always aim to ensure we communicate well with guests and pick up on any issues. Thanks for highlighting the fault with the outdoor side light etc, we will send an electrician to look at this as soon as possible. I am unsure why Sykes called you mid- week, this is indeed strange and I will follow up on this with them. As we discussed it was nice to hear that you had had an enjoyable stay. Property Owner

"Rhum Cottage is well presented, very clean and nicely decorated."
Although small it was fine for two adults and a Westie. It says for four but would be very cramped. Can't understand why there were two spacious bedrooms both with king size beds, much better to have one room for single beds for children. Very close to St Andrews which is glorious but virtually nothing nearby except for a very expensive restaurant. Nice little place but we like more space. Tried to vacuum before leaving but Dyson not working properly.
Thanks for your feedback Elizabeth. I know you had taken the time afterwards to share with Sykes what a nice stay you had had. The Dyson hoover does occasionally run out of charge but can be easily re- charged using the cable. Property Owner

"This was a lovely little cottage."
Although the bedrooms were a good size, I feel the living, kitchen and dining area was quite compact for 4 adults. Would be better suited to a family of 2+2 or two singles.
-
"The property looked bigger in the pictures ,than it actually was , there were 4 adults and a dog and felt very cramped."
There was suppose to be a pub a mile down the road ,but we found you had to buy lunch or dinner, which was very expensive. Would l go again? No. Thought it was a little village, no nearest shops 7 miles away. So on the whole would not return to this area.
Thanks for your comments. The Peat Inn Restaurant is a Michelin star restaurant and is a great place to visit for a special occasion. We will amend our information regarding the proximity of the nearest pub. The nearest well-stocked shop is in Ceres, a ten minute drive away. St Andrews, with an extensive range of places to shop and eat is less than a fifteen minute drive away. The beautiful East Neuk is also 15 minutes drive from the cottage. Property Owner

We particularly appreciated the wood burning stove.

"This is a lovely holiday cottage situated in a quiet, picturesque setting."
The cottage was spotlessly clean and fully equipped. It’s in a perfect spot for exploring the nooks and crannies of Fife. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here

"On arrival we found Rhum Cottage very clean and welcoming."
One or two initial problems were quickly resolved by the owner. We had great difficulty finding logs after the few that were provided. I think we were between seasons and the supermarkets were catering more for barbecues. The wood burning stove was much appreciated as the weather was cold during our stay. The dog proof garden, although small, was also much appreciated One or two microwave cooking containers would have been helpful as, on a few occasions, we had to turn on the oven to heat things through. This seemed rather uneconomical. However, we had a very pleasant stay and hope to be back in the future.
Thank you for your suggestions. We will look into purchasing some microwave containers. We are glad you had a pleasant stay. Property Owner

"Absolutely love this cottage which is in a fantastic location and would highly recommend to anyone."
We saw it briefly while visiting my in-laws who stayed there last year and we loved it so much that we booked it that night. Everywhere was clean and tidy with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and prompt to respond to queries. Proper home from home and already booked again for next year!
Lovely to hear your comments. We look forward to welcoming you again. Property Owner

"We really enjoyed our third visit to the cottage."
It is so well decorated and very comfortable. We had an issue with the tv not working which was attended too by the owners no problem. One thing which would help those of us who are not in the" first flush of youth"would be a hand rail in the shower for safety.
Nice to have you back with us again Frank. We have purchased a handrail which can be added to the screen for those guests who wish to use it. Look forward to having you back with us next year. Property Owner

"This is a wonderful cottage to stay in , it is so warm, which makes it feel lovely and cosy and the beds are really comfortable, at night time it is so quiet."
Here you are placed in easy access to exploring all around the wonderful places in Fife to see. All in all I’d say it is a 10 .
Thanks so much for your lovely comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"Nowhere to walk dog ,layout of cottage poor as a disabled person kitchen area all wrong fridge on opposite side of room ."
WI Fi was always going off hence no tv,local pub as advertised so expensive we didn't go in .no wardrobe in one bedroom the one in other room half full of hoover ect.hoover wasn't charged, and had been left full of last tenants rubbish .not impressed at all .
We were disappointed to read your review. as this is not in keeping with comments from other guests. If you had made contact during your stay we would have been more than happy to help with any issues as we would for all of our visitors. There are several dog walking areas next to the Peat Inn restaurant and an abundance of areas within a short drive as highlighted in the welcome email. We have spoken to our cleaning team around the small cordless hoover to ensure that this is emptied before each stay. Many thanks. Property Owner

"Thanks so much for the lovely cottage, we had a fabulous time was a real home from home."
We loved sitting out in the garden at night listening to all the birds. Was so peaceful and relaxing everyone was so friendly when out walking with the dog , loved seeing all the horses and ponies across the road on the farm two were born on the week we were there. Only disappointment was we assumed the location was actually in Cupar for eating out and supplies and stuff but we had great time we would love to definitely come back and would highly recommend the cottage to family and friends. Thanks again for letting us holiday at you're property ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Perfect location for exploring Fife coast."
Cottage has hygiene measures in place re bedding and towels etc which is reassuring. Compact and well designed, ideal for 2 people, and cooker and dishwasher of good standard. Another small pan would be good addition to kitchen. Attention to detail re interior re paintings, soft furnishings etc have cottage homely cared for feeling.

"Fantastic location."
Very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable. Only minor quibble was slightly unreliable Internet. However this would not deter us from making a return visit. Would 100% recommend this beautiful cottage.
-

"Lovely cottage in a good location for exploring."
Bedrooms good size, living room a bit on the small side but the owners have done well with making best use of a small ish space, ok for the 2 of us and a small dog.

"Excellent well appointed cottage would strongly recommend it to others and would come back."
Well placed for visiting East Neuk of Fife. Comfortable generous bedrooms, shower safe from slips, tasteful contemporary arty decor. Modern kitchen with all necessary equipment. Facilities all excellent. Log burner a lovely addition although central heating more than enough. Parking easy and ample. Loved it.
We are absolutely delighted you had a lovely stay at Rhum Cottage. We'd love to see you back again sometime in the near future. Property Owner

"Delightful cottage, beautifully decorated throughout and supplied with everything that you may need."
Located close to beaches and places to visit, so we had lots to do during our stay before coming back and snuggling in front of the log fire.

"We had a really lovely stay."
Beautiful cottage with everything you need in it. Sparkling clean. Beds were very comfortable, as were the sofas and log burner! Great base to discover Fife and lots to do and see around. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend.
-
"Beautifully appointed cottage."
We were aware that wifi was not working prior to our arrival when we spoke with the owner re entry. No wifi or communication during our one week stay. No back door key in box on our arrival. Hot water flow was next to nothing in both bathroom and kitchen.
Thank you for your feedback - we are dealing with the poor water pressure as a matter of urgency and have rectified the missing back door key - as soon as we are made aware of any issues we deal with them promptly. Wifi sorted now. Property Owner
-
"The cottage was very bright and comfortable."
The rooms were decorated to a high standard. The location to St Andrew's was fantastic. All in all we had a fantastic stay. Would thoroughly recommend and stay again
-
"Cosy cottage , really enjoyed our stay ."
A bit remote but we like the peace and quiet, having said this your only a few miles car journey from all the places of interest and the coast.
-
"Hi, It's a lovely wee cottage."
We have had a couple of issues during our stay. The internet connection switches off all the time, the longest it has lasted consistently is about 10 mins. Makes it really difficult to work whilst here. Secondly, you have a mouse issue in the kitchen, we found a lot of our food has been raided and droppings in the food cupboards.
Thank you for sharing your feedback - we have addressed the issue with wifi dropping out which we acknowledge could be frustrating. With regards to our small, uninvited guest, rest assured that we have dealt with this in a humane way and by installing ultrasonic repellent to ensure we have no further issues. If you could have contacted us regarding this at the time, we could have dealt with it promptly. Property Owner

"Just returned home from an amazing week away at Rhum cottage."
Loved the cottage and it was perfect for us. Found some fantastic beaches, places to explore and eat!
-
"Just a few point, no bread knife to cut our bread not everyone buys sliced bread."
. Bins were a bit confusing had a list which was ok but no where to put glass so had to bring them home which is not ideal when paying that kind of money. Had to strip the bed etc I know its because of covid but we think its just an excuse and makes its easier for the cleaner if we do the job because it cant take them 6 hours to clean that cottage. They have to touch the bedding to put it on. We did have a nice stay and it is a very lovely cottage except for the garden no real place to sit out and enjoy.
-
"Fantastic cottage and perfect for our stay."
I expect we will be back!!
-
