  • "Great location and a nice property to relax in with family."

I could imagine that the lack of any view might feel a bit claistrophobic if you stay in a lot, but we were outside all day so it was nice and cosy. Great to have 3 en-suite bedrooms. Plenty of space for storage and hanging clothes. Garden area lovely to sit out in. A few small negatives - extractor fan in one en'suite bathroom didn't work, some beds comfortable, others less so (creaky springs), not enough loo roll for 6 people for 4 nights. Also i can't remember if tea bags were supposed to be included or not, but I think there were 4 bags, not nearly enough.

  • "Nice comfortable property."

If I had to say anything it would be about the mattresses, not very comfy ans as we were asked to strip beds on leaving we were shocked at the state of them---- stains not too pleasant. Helpful also if a salt and pepper mill and a pair of scissors were available.

It had everything we needed and situated close to Anstruther for shopping. The owners were onsite very quickly when the washing machine stopped working. There is no sea view but down the stairs and out into the street and the harbour was right there. Would stay again and highly recommend.

The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfortable. It was a great place to be based to explore the East Neuk. All in all, a great place for a relaxing holiday.

Home from home, very familiar and comfortable and with 3 en suite bedrooms it's also very convenient. Thank you once again! A couple of light bulbs need replacing, just for info.

  • "The cottage was excellent, however, when booking, I specifically asked about the Car Parking, which the site stated quite clearly would be off road."

This was not the cas, and I had to park on the main street. This is really misrepresentation and needs to be fixed.

  • "It's a lovely holiday cottage, which we visited for the first time 4yrs ago, but this time we found the two double beds very uncomfortable and in need of new mattresses."

Also the lawn was difficult to access due to very overgrown rose brambles, obstructing the path. Another worry was the steep steps to the right of the back door to the garden, perhaps a gate rather than just a pole across would be safer for young children. We had our 2 & 4 year old grandchildren staying with us. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Gillian Ferguson & family

  • "The flat is well kitted out, clean and modern."

However, there's a garage next door to the flat, which was quite noisy some early mornings and sometimes into the evening. A ladder placed next to an unlockable window was disconcerting. Lovely area. Pittenweem is very picturesque. While we very much enjoyed our stay, the description on your website is somewhat misleading "sharing a rear lawn with sea views" can be interpreted that the flat has sea views, which it doesn't. In fact, there are no views. That was quite disappointing. Other mentions of this were in the book left for comments.

We liked the fact that it was so easy to gain access to the cottage when we arrived and were able to park right outside. The cottage contained everything we needed, very comfortable, and it was really interesting to be so close to the harbour and the inquisitive seal who would appear every day. Would love to return sometime.

About the location

PITTENWEEM

Anstruther 1 mile; St Andrews 11 miles.

The village of Pittenweem is one of the busiest fishing ports along the East Neuk of Fife and, as such, is a popular attraction for tourists. There is a pub by the delightful harbour, which is surrounded by restored traditional buildings, all adding to its charm. The village name means ‘place of the cave’ and is believed to refer to the cave St Fillan used as a chapel in the 8th century, and where he is reputed to have prepared his sermons by the glow of his arm. The cave is open to the public and sits in Cove Wynd, in the village. The present day Church of Scotland, or The Kirk, sits on the site of the former Pittenweem Priory, an Augustinian Priory dating back to the Middle Ages. Today, the village is popular with tourists and hosts the Pittenweem Arts Festival each August, an event that has grown in size over the years. The East Neuk Festival is another arts festival that also encompasses many of the villages in the area. The village centre sits a few streets back from the shore and boasts a shop, bakers, a Post Office and a café, plus several bars and galleries. From Anstruther, one mile away, take a day trip out into the Firth of Forth and visit the Isle of May, a National Nature Reserve, or visit one of the other attractive coastal villages in this corner of Fife. With St Andrews and Edinburgh easily accessible, there is so much for the visitor to enjoy.
