"This was a great stay just across the road from the harbour."
The apartment was well equipped and was well placed for the coastal path.It was also very cosy as it was winter this was quite important. All in all a great stay
-
"Lovely property, great location reasonable price for our break would highly recommend ."
one little thing the back garden could do with some sort of sensor lighting
-
"The Hayloft was adequate accomodation."
On the whole was comfortable and clean. Down side beds too soft and not comfortable to sleep on. No natural light during the day in the living room was strange but not too bad. We had a great week staying there it had all we needed and was cosy and comfortable downstairs. Great location for walking and exploring the area.

"This was our second time staying at the Hayloft, its a real hidden gem, it has every thing you could need for a perfect getaway, the location is great for a relaxing by the harbour or exploring Fife."
We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future,we would give the Hayloft 5 stars.

"Clean and tidy, big enough two."
Some kitchen equipment aging but enough to get by. Low cealing slightly uncomfortable for tall people. Windows could need a clean outside.
-
"The door leading to the street needs attention as it sticks quite badly, apart from that we had a great stay and would recommend ."
-
"We loved our stay the hayloft has everything you need to us it was perfect."
-
"We usually stay in the adjacent Flourloft but that was already booked so it's our first time in the Hayloft."
We weren't disappointed. Cleanliness, facilities and amenities all as we expected from previous stays with the owner. One thing we didn't have provided though was a pair of scissors which certainly would have come in handy a couple of times. As someone has already mentioned, the internet is shared with the neighbouring property and can have a tendency to "drop out". It didn't bother us as we're used to that at home (lol) but it may be more of an issue for others. We love the location as it's so easy to explore the area. Easy access to the Fife Coastal path. Hoping to stay there again soon.

"There was no clear statement that there was no view of harbour or indeed anything worthwhile to look at."
So it was the sin of omission rather than full honesy. Insulation was poor. The flat heated up quickly but cooled very quickly too. Soundproofing was non existent which meant no privacy at all either in our own flat or the flat next door. We could hear them and undoubtedly they could hear us. There was no view from their flat either. The adjoining flat was accessed by an adjoining door which should have been locked on both sides but not on our side. The sofa bed would not have been very comfortable for two people. The flat would not be suitable for young children with no door at the spiral staircase. Equally it would not suit anyone with mobility difficulties. There were many stairs. The flat was fairly well equipped but the cafitiere was tiny and was hardly suitable for one person never mind four. It was also the same with the teapot which we found eventually. There was no welcome note or instructions, just out of date booklets and leaflets. We received a call from the owner to say that the electricity was going off from 9am until 4pm and that she 'forgot ' to tell us. This left us without heat and lighting, the means to cook and not water all day. If we had been told before leaving home we could have brought thermos flasks. I would advise people to read all the reviews very carefully before booking. I wish we had to save us the disappointment when we arrived. Certainly it is a well presented flat decoratively but featureless.

"Great apartment but the spiral staircase to the bedroom difficult to navigate with a sore leg."
If I was fully fit it would be fine. Great location directly opposite the harbour. We used the back garden quite a bit
-
"The location of the flat was excellent."
The cleanliness and facilities were first class - everything had been thought of. The garden was a real bonus. We were fortunate to have lovely weather, and it was great to enjoy either a morning coffee, or a glass of wine after the golf in such peaceful surroundings. We have already booked for next year ...fingers crossed for good weather again ! We would certainly recommend Hayloft and adjacent accommodation

"This cottage is very conveniently located just set off the front of the harbour Our communications with the owners was very pleasant and they were most helpful."
-
"Everything was lovely and toa high standard except the beds which were very soft mattresses and not comfortable at all."

"The Hayloft is a great location in Pitenweem."
There's no view of the harbour (the apartment is like a 'rear tenement') but the harbour is right there outside the street door. The apartment is well appointed and a reasonable price. The downsides are: ~ As others have noted, the main living area is dingy and lights are needed during the day. ~ The Hayloft is one of two apartments which are separated by internal doors. This means that if the neighbours are noisy or have children you will hear them as if they are in the next room (or elsewhere in the apartment) - because they are. ~ The wifi is provided by an extension unit and is patchy and drops out altogether (particularly in the evening). My theory is that the router is in the other apartment and that when the neighbours are online, they get first service from the router, leaving little bandwidth through the extension. ~ The combi boiler (situated in the living area) fires up for no reason. My guess is that it serves both apartments, so will grunt and click etc whenever the neighbours turn on taps, shower etc. None of the downsides are significant in themselves but be aware of them when you book.

"Wonderfully set out brilliant location well furnished and equipped."
Spotlessly clean.

"Would be happy to recycle the rubbish."
Details of what goes in what bin would be useful. Did not feel happy about using garden. Someone working in there most days using it for growing vegetables. Bath towels were a little small.
Thank you for your review of the Hayloft. I have taken your views of labelling the rubbish so there is no confusion in the future. The garden that goes with the property is enclosed and is only for the sole use of the Hayloft and the Flourloft. Iâ'm thinking theres been confusion of the neighbours garden. The towels that we provide is a standard bath sheet and hand towel to every guest that stays in the property. Property Owner

"Location was ideal with so much to experience in this region."
-
"Pittenweem is a quiet little town with beautiful coastal walk, a good place to relax."
-
"A great place to stay, but not suitable for people with mobility problems or vertigo or tendency to sleepwalking."
Some stairs are steep and narrow. The harbour is lovely and lots of activities nearby
-
"Location is just perfect for a quiet break in the East Neuk of Fife."
Even the very active harbour did not disturb us. Everything we needed had already been considered including bedding for the sofa bed and plenty of bath towels for our party of four. Please note the sofa-bed was suitable for 2 teenagers. I hope this property will be available again for our next visit :-)

"A great little apartment but not good of you can't do stairs, several up to the apartment and the spiral staircase inside."
It was pretty dark inside and we had to have the lights on most of the time. The actual position was great, down the stairs through the little alley and you were right on the harbour which was fabulous. No views from the windows though. No mobile phone signal until we were right at the harbour wall. The wifi was really great though and the apartment had everything you would want. Used the washing machine but the drier didn't work so had to take the load to the launderette for drying. All in all a great little apartment itself, apart from the issues above. Great for a couple but not sure I would want four people there

"This is the second year we have booked this apartment which was perfect for our week away."
-
"The apartment was very close to the harbour but no views from the property."
Accommodation good but internally was dark. Excellent value for money. A wonderful base to explore East Neuk - we drove up from North Yorkshire, parked the car and didn’t get in it until we left a week later, making the most of exploring the Fyfe coastal path by foot courtesy of the local buses - wonderful, would fully recommend this as a base for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday
-
"The apartment looks like it has a harbour view but this is only when you have gone outside."
The steps into the apartment are quite a few especially if carrying heavy items to the apartment
-
"A lovely cosy flat with a well equipped kitchen ."
The flat is close to the harbour but had no view of the harbour which was disappointing.A lovely village with coffee shops and a pub.Located on the Fife coastal footpath and many interesting places close by. Edinburgh about 1hr 30 mins depending on how you want to get there .
-
"The area is generally beautiful & has excellent historic buildings"
-
"We were under the impression from the photographs that the flat would have a harbour view and were disappointed to find this was not so."
-
"The cottage was in a great location."
An hour from Edinburgh, 45 minutes from Dundee. It was really clean and had really good facilities. We stayed with two adults and two grown up children. I would suggest it's okay for 4 with small children but certainly ideal for 2. really good cottage.

About the location
PITTENWEEM
Anstruther 1 mile; St Andrews 11 miles.
The village of Pittenweem is one of the busiest fishing ports along the East Neuk of Fife and, as such, is a popular attraction for tourists. There is a pub by the delightful harbour, which is surrounded by restored traditional buildings, all adding to its charm. The village name means ‘place of the cave’ and is believed to refer to the cave St Fillan used as a chapel in the 8th century, and where he is reputed to have prepared his sermons by the glow of his arm. The cave is open to the public and sits in Cove Wynd, in the village. The present day Church of Scotland, or The Kirk, sits on the site of the former Pittenweem Priory, an Augustinian Priory dating back to the Middle Ages. Today, the village is popular with tourists and hosts the Pittenweem Arts Festival each August, an event that has grown in size over the years. The East Neuk Festival is another arts festival that also encompasses many of the villages in the area. The village centre sits a few streets back from the shore and boasts a shop, bakers, a Post Office and a café, plus several bars and galleries. From Anstruther, one mile away, take a day trip out into the Firth of Forth and visit the Isle of May, a National Nature Reserve, or visit one of the other attractive coastal villages in this corner of Fife. With St Andrews and Edinburgh easily accessible, there is so much for the visitor to enjoy.
