"We had a lovely stay, weather was sunny and dry for late September."
House was superb. The only fault was that the furniture in the sitting room was not comfortable and was very heavy to move. Would recommend to others.
-
"A great house for a large mixed group."
Owner was super responsive to calls made which was appreciated. Amazing location - the port was a joy to watch at all times of the day and night. Access to local walls was perfect. We all loved our stay.
-
"A very nice house well situated and comfortable"
-
"This was our second stay in this lovely house."
We love the location overlooking the harbour and watching the fishing boats coming and going. The house has plenty of room and everything you could possibly need for a stay in the East Neuk.

"Just a shame that you were not forthcoming about the serious problem of constant 12Hour per day Roadwork and Excavations directly in front of the property, which had been ongoing throughout our visit to Maimies Harbourview for at least 10 weeks prior to our visit."
The property itself would have been ideal for us, however, The constant noise, dust, dirt, fumes, banging, tapping, and grinding, made this the Rental from Hell, starting at 7:30 am till 7.30 pm for the full 7 days. Yes! including weekend. If you require any proof, please advise as we have photographs and videos of the full debauchle. As we were not advised of these major impediments until 2 days before our arrival we were unable to work around these major problems and our whole visit to Pittenweem WAS SIMPLY A DISASTER. and a large refund is expected, as previously notified to you.

"Really comfortable, well equipped and spacious accommodation overlooking the harbour."
We really enjoyed our stay, the only thing I would suggest is the option to use a stair gate(s) which would make it a little safer for those travelling with little ones.
-
"Lovely Great location Janice was a Very helpful property manager Would use this property again"
-
"The accommodation was fine but it was disappointing that we were not advised about the road works which resulted in us having to park our vehicle a significant distance from the house."
The latter would have been fine without having to carry luggage and more importantly, wetsuits and other outdoor equipment to the property on a number of occasions.
-
"Lovely 3 floor house right at the front of Pittenweem harbour."
Just about every appliance and consumable was available. We had the roadworks outside, which meant the house was loud and rather worryingly vibrating from Monday to Thursday - we left a day early due to it. But I think they are finished by early April. Made parking hard and my new car got a dent from someone who didn't leave details. It's a dead end street but has a fish market and lots of vans. Bottom shelf of fridge missing so was tricky storing milk, but we just balance the bottles in the veg basket. Lounge sofas which were very low and uncomfortable despite lots of cushions, and it was tricky getting the gas fire working. The beds were great though, as was the lovely clean linen and bedding. Loads of pillows! Showers were great and overall lovely clean place to stay. We would definitely go back. Hope this was constructive, and only pointing out things that could make this place a 5*. :-)

"Excellent property."
Clean, comfortable and spacious. Only downside is beyond the owner’s control in that there are currently (February 2024) works going on immediately outside the property. This means noise from early morning. Parking still ok (down the road or up the hill) but loading/unloading was a little trickier than it would normally be. That aside, this is a very good property which made an excellent base for exploring the area.

"Lovely house for a mixed age family group!"
Great location & real sea/harbour views! Comfortable & well equipped for home cooking although nearby places to eat.
-
"Excellent stay for a weekend in January."
Great facilities, lovely and clean with excellent views right on the edge of the harbour. Perfect location for a coastal holiday. Enjoyed it so much that we've booked to go back.
-
"We had a wonderful time exploring Pittenweem using this property as our home away home."
We easily prepared meals for the family in the well appointed kitchen. It was wonderful having a washer AND dryer. I would suggest providing an oven mitt for the kitchen.
-
"This was the second time we stayed at Maimie’s Harbour View and we had another great week - the location is fantastic, right on the harbour."
Pittenweem is a lovely village with excellent hot chocolate shop and fabulous restaurant a few doors along from the house. We will be back.
-
"This is our second weeks stay in two months."
The house is just right and the location on the busy harbour front is perfect. We love watching the fishing boats setting out and returning.
-
"This is the best holiday home we have lived in out of many."
A fish server would have been helpful for serving the delicious fresh fish from the harbour. We will be back again in December.Already missing the view of the harbour.
-
"We all loved our stay here."
The house is roomy, comfortable, and ideally located. There is so much to do and explore in the area. We will certainly be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed Pittenweem and the Bowhouse Christmas Market. Hoping to book again next year but maybe bookings haven’t opened up yet as unable to nook any time. Unless of course you are booked ! Thank you for letting us stay!!! PS xmas tree & decorations were great. Much appreciated as it’s our annual girl’s Christmas weekend Regards Louise & the Arran Lassies

"Lovely peaceful location."
Perfect for a family celebration/get-together. The house was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. Would definitely recommend.
-
"I have just spent 3 days with friends at Maimies Harbour."
It is a lovely house with spectacular views of the harbour. Exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Lovely area to explore and the best fish and chips ever from Chip Ahoy chip shop,(sit in or take away) just a few doors along from the house. I would definitely return and recommend a stay at this lovely house.
-
"Lovely comfortable stay a home from home stunning views would love to return"
-

-
"A perfect location for meeting up with family in Edinburgh and Dundee."
The house was lovely and welcoming and the view were amazing!! Thank you so much for the week.
-
"The setting is excellent and has a great view of the harbour with parking available."
The house is comfortable and well equipped. Rooms are clean and tidy and relaxing. There are basic facilities in the village has a pub/fish and chip shop/cafe and an ice cream shop just down from the house and a general store/basic chemist and cafe up the hil in the main Street. Anstruther is five minutes down the road, and has a supermarket, restaurants and cafes.
-
"Just returned from a girlie weekend at Maimies Harbourview."
Owners very friendly and on call for assistance if required. Lovely property, well equipped, very comfortable and with beautiful views. Centrally located for coastal walks and amenities. We could not find any fault and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend and return in the future.
-
"A very comfortable holiday home with fantastic views of the harbour and sea."
-
"Fabulous location overlooking Pittenweem harbour and great views from all bedrooms, sitting room and kitchen/diner."
Our party consisted of four adults and three grandchildren with plenty of room for everyone. Well equipped house - very clean and tidy. Can thoroughly recommend. Well located for exploring the beautiful coastal paths and surrounding area.
-
"A lovely location and a lovely house."
Thoughtfully equipped for all family combinations, including a dog (not that I had one). Spacious and comfortable, just the place to recharge your batteries.
-
"It was great to arrive at the house and to be impressed by the size and quality of the accommodation."
Excellent location overlooking the fishing boats in the harbour and close to all requisite amenities - shop, bars/restaurants, cafes and a self service petrol station. The Coast Path runs through the village and so good walks in both directions and St Andrews and Dundee not too far to travel as well as the East Neuk villages.
-
"Wonderful location and everything we needed to enjoy our stay"
-
"The fact that there has been a massive price rise from £1,450 for 2021to£2,180 for 2022 for a week,!"
every year we have been there's been a £200 rise b, so its time to explore different houses, we do use holiday lets 4-5 times a year and roughly budget upto 1,500. -

"I booked this property last year but due to Scottish Govt guidelines we couldn’t go as three households."
I am delighted to say we got this year and it was so worth the wait. Right from the start of our holiday, liaising with Janice for the keys to reporting a slight fault. Everything was just perfect. Great comfortable accommodation and more importantly location. Maime’s vista overlooking Pittenween harbour was something very calming and good for your soul. My family and I could have stayed another week, we will definitely be back in the future.
-
"Lovely clean, very well equipped and comfortable house in an excellent harbourside location."
As well as the fishermen coming and going we saw gannets, eiders, dolphins and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge from the windows. The latter two are unlikely to be there again but the others will be. The people looking after the house were very helpful and friendly when we spoke to them.
-
"This is a superb property overlooking a working harbour."
There is everything you need and the house was spotlessly clean. We visited whilst we were still in partial lockdown so many restaurants were still closed so the well equipped kitchen was very welcome. Pittemweem and the surrounding area is beautiful. We loved sitting in the kitchen watching the boats coming in and out whatever the weather. We will return.
-
"House was well appointed and accommodation was good."
Very comfortable. For some reason we thought that it had enclosed space to the rear which would have been useful for dog but we couldn’t see any access to this. Generally though the property was excellent and we had a great stay. Pittenweem was great and overlooking the working harbour was very interesting as well as picturesque. We would definitely recommend it.
-
"The cottage is amazing, so spacious and contains everything you could possibly need, the boot room on the ground floor with the washer and dryer was a godsend!"
Everything was spotlessly clean and the bedding and towels smelt lovely and fresh. We’re already planning our next visit!
-
"The house was super clean on our arrival showing clearly very good cleaners and efficient Management."
We thoroughly enjoyed the comfort and space of the house and would highly recommend booking. Please be aware that the fridge in the property is small for a house that sleeps 8 people, and limit your food shopping to two or three days at any one time. The beds are comfortable for those who feel the need to engage in "bedgate", modern and in good order as are the bathrooms. Go and enjoy !
-
"This was our second visit and we love it so much we booked again for next year."
The house is great for two families, very clean and tidy, a great utility downstairs to put sand shoes and buckets. The children loved watching the fishing boats coming and going, we also explored the surrounding area up to St Andrews and down to Kirkcaldy and left places to visit next year.
-
"The cottage suited us very well and was very comfortable and clean."
We also enjoyed looking at the harbour from the house and the seat outside.
-

"The accommodation was very clean on arrival and exceptionally easy to gain access."
Very smooth and pleasant stay all round!
-
"It was great - just a coffee machine and a small garden would have made the facilities’ score the highest that was available to select."
-
"The place itself is quiet a lot going on with the boats going in and out plenty to watch."
Fish and chip shop was fantastic . A place I will go back to just for the peace and quiet.
-
"Best accommodation we had so far in Pittenweem, with excellent views over harbour+Firth of Forth."
However disappointed that none of the windows would open fully to enjoy the views properly during a warm week.
-
"Had a fantastic week ,the views of the harbour from the house were stunning , lots of lovely walks around the area even swimming in the sea pool ,the house was home from home just a few little things but it never spoilt our stay so just a suggestion ,a fridge freezer down stairs in the utility room would be good the fridge up stairs in the kitchen was a little small also a sweeping brush and the carpets in the two bedrooms downstairs would be nice to have the same grey carpets in keeping with the rest of the house these are just a suggestion and in no way did it have any effect on our stay ,we loved it so much we have booked again for next year ."
-
"Fantastic self catering for families."
Spotless clean, fantastic facilities and really well thought out. Beds and bedding excellent quality as was everything else in the house. We look forward to going back again next year.
-
"Description states that the cottage has an enclosed garden but this is not the case but it is somewhat compensated by the property having wonderful views of the harbour."
Thank you for your review of Maimie's Harbourview. The views are just fabulous looking over the harbour and beyond. I have carefully looked over the description of the property and nowhere does it say there is an enclosed garden. Sorry that you were disappointed about that. We have 2 other properties that have the enclosed garden which is at the back of Maimie's Harbourview. Property Owner

About the location
PITTENWEEM
Anstruther 1 mile; St Andrews 11 miles.
The village of Pittenweem is one of the busiest fishing ports along the East Neuk of Fife and, as such, is a popular attraction for tourists. There is a pub by the delightful harbour, which is surrounded by restored traditional buildings, all adding to its charm. The village name means ‘place of the cave’ and is believed to refer to the cave St Fillan used as a chapel in the 8th century, and where he is reputed to have prepared his sermons by the glow of his arm. The cave is open to the public and sits in Cove Wynd, in the village. The present day Church of Scotland, or The Kirk, sits on the site of the former Pittenweem Priory, an Augustinian Priory dating back to the Middle Ages. Today, the village is popular with tourists and hosts the Pittenweem Arts Festival each August, an event that has grown in size over the years. The East Neuk Festival is another arts festival that also encompasses many of the villages in the area. The village centre sits a few streets back from the shore and boasts a shop, bakers, a Post Office and a café, plus several bars and galleries. From Anstruther, one mile away, take a day trip out into the Firth of Forth and visit the Isle of May, a National Nature Reserve, or visit one of the other attractive coastal villages in this corner of Fife. With St Andrews and Edinburgh easily accessible, there is so much for the visitor to enjoy.
