  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our break at Puccini."

Lovely well appointed cottage. Lovely decor and very clean. Ideal safe enclosed garden which was perfect for us and our dog. Lovely touch with a food hamper supplied on our arrival with great produce. The family are very friendly and welcoming. This is an ideal place to stay to explore such a beautiful part of Scotland. There is a golf course on the doorstep which allowed and is ideal for walking the dog. 2 lovely Inns a few minutes walk away over the Tay. Would definitely return to this cottage again.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Puccini Cottage, The cottage is a stylish conversion of a former outbuilding."

It has a lovely walk- in rain shower plus a further bathroom upstairs. A modern kitchen is well equipped with all you need to cook while you're on your holidays. Prior to our arrival I was a little concerned about several negative reviews but I need not have worried. I can only conclude there are some very sad individuals who spend their lives looking for problems and finding things to moan about. I think such individuals lack the imagination to rejoice in the stunning location, the beautiful verdant lush greenery, peace and quiet and a whole host of places to visit, both near and far. (we personally are not troubled by a few nettles)! We were most appreciative of the more than generous grocery box, probably the best welcome pack we have received since staying in holiday cottages. This contained very many goodies including the most delicious cheese scone I have ever tasted! Thank you so much for your kind generosity! We would highly recommend staying at Puccini, for the charming accommodation, the location and the close proximity to so many places of interest.

Minor niggles reducing rating from 5 stars to 4 relate to some kitchen items not being fully cleaned before our arrival. Despite this we would definitely return to Puccini to explore more of this stunning part of Scotland, knowing that we'd have such a lovely base for a holiday.

Kitchen utensils and cutlery adequate BUT on a minus side only two glass wine glasses, but plenty PLASTIC ones.!!. Unfortunately the negatives, the patio area is seriously neglected, needs weeded, grass needed mown and not just strimmed as occurred. Garden furniture desperately needed to be cleaned and maintained. Be aware the owners house is in the same courtyard as the cottage, dogs run freely and evidence of dog dirt regularly in the car parking area. We maybe should have brought this to owners attention but the family were dealing with a close relatives illness. Young spaniel,Logie, needs to be watched carefully as he has a tendency to be unpredictable.

Walkable to a couple of nice restaurants. A couple of your own outside areas to make the most of the sun as it moves round. A good welcome pack that would tie you over if you arrived late and hadn't shopped. Secure parking on site just a few meters from the 2 cottages.

Owner was friendly and helpful. Locked shed at the side was handy for bikes, and the enclosed garden really useful for the dog. Having all the Sky channels was a bonus. Suggested improvements would be to replace or clean the kettle as it had a lot of scale build-up. Also the WiFi was a bit slow but worked most of the time. One of the seats on one sofa was a bit soft/saggy.

  • "The location of this cottage to start off is amazing, there is no shortage of walks, the nearby town was lovely."

We really wanted to love it here, but we really wouldn’t return in all honesty. To start with, upon booking the only request in regards to a dog is ‘well behaved’, I personally think this is really subjective, our dog is perfectly well behaved to our standards, but for this cottage upon arrival we realised it was quite extreme. Our dog usually sleeps with us in our room, is allowed on our couch as we treat her entirely as part of our family, I wouldn’t say that’s badly behaved at all, but the request for absolutely no dogs upstairs or on any furniture was found upon our arrival in the file you’re given detailing facilities in the house, our dog was expected to stay in the kitchen overnight which we found impossible given we’ve never made her do that before, we’ve been on several dog friendly holidays in the UK and we’ve never came across such ridiculous unrealistic rules, you may as well not have it be dog friendly, the only good aspect for our dog was a large private back garden. I’d recommend instead of something as subjective as ‘well behaved dogs’ advertised, perhaps list all your rules as many people will not be able to facilitate your requirements. The gift basket provided, while appreciated, was not at all good, our milk was completely off and had curdled before we’d even arrived, the bacon had its expiry date what looked like torn off, so we didn’t risk eating that. The jam, had green mold all over the top of it, so if that’s the standard, I really wouldn’t bother doing it in the future for guests, unless maybe we were unlucky and got that as a one off. No one had informed us, but our water and heating was all completely switches off, to my surprise when I went to shower in freezing cold water. My partner had to turn all of this back on by the mains switches, and it took a full day for it to take effect, not exactly what you want after a six hour commute. There were stains on carpets upstairs in various places in one of the bedrooms. Positive points however are the kitchen was the best equipped kitchen I’d encountered, the log burner was lovely on a night time, you have full access to all sky channels which is handy when winding down on the night time. this was a last minute booking, but for the money we paid we expected a little bit better, so we won’t return unfortunately.
