25 Customer Reviews

  • "The property and communication with the owners was good."

It helped as there was to be power cut on one of the days we were there but it actually happened a day earlier and on the day that was recorded. But the owners kindly supplied us with a portable gas cooker to see us through meals and volunteered to help in any way they could even though it was out of their control. The downstairs rooms/kitchen were spacious and this helped when there are nine hungry mouths to feed. Everything was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the opportunity to play some of the games supplied round the large dining table at night with the log buner keeping us warm. All the family who were there enjoyed their stay and would come back again. It was a great jumping off point for visiting other places of interest in the area too. The only things I could recommend as an improvement is, that arriving late in the day and it being dark we went to explore the games barn. But it was difficult to find the light switch which was located at the other side of the barn hidden behind the light that was illuminating the way to the stairs. It took us a while to find, so maybe a notice at the entrance as to where the switch is would be a help in those circumstances. The other thing was maybe more pillows as the young boys who used the bunk beds found that another couple of pillows would have helped. The important thing is we all had a great time.

Thank you Carol fot taking the time to write your review and especally for the tip regards the lightswitch, we will pop up a note to help in future Property Owner

Where you’ll be staying

ALYTH

Blairgowrie 5 miles; Kirriemuir 11 miles.

Nestling in the hills of the Forest of Alyth and just south of the Cairngorms National Park, Alyth can trace its history back to the 12th century and perhaps even earlier given the remains of a vitrified fort on nearby Barry Hill. Local legend has it that King Arthur’s Queen Guinevere was a prisoner here of the Pictish King Mordred. Alyth developed throughout the 19th century both due to its textiles industry and the coming of the railway. Always a popular tourist destination due to its location and the founding of a golf course at the end of the 19th century with the original 9 hole course designed by Old Tom Morris from St Andrews and extended to 18 holes in 1934,with a further two clubs added in the area. The town today has an array of shops, bars and cafés. It is close to Blairgowrie, Kirriemuir and Dunkeld and the coast at Arbroath is easily reachable. Ideal for exploring the great outdoors, Alyth is ideal for walkers, cyclists, golfers and anglers as well as skiers.
