  • "My family had a lovely week staying in Holly House."

It is very comfortable and well equipped, there was nothing that I thought I needed but couldn't find (well I couldn't find pegs for the clothes line....until the last day, but that says something about my finding skills!) My children loved the games barn, making good use of the activities in there. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful house.

  • "The property was an excellent holiday home for our family."

The house and garden are lovely and comfortably and met all our needs. There's a lovely outlook from the house of the surrounding farm land and countryside. The barn was great for all the family with games to suit everyone. We had a great holiday.

  • "We found the house to be exactly what we needed, it was spacious and clean, with a totally enclosed large garden we could relax when the dogs were outside."

The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of boxed games for the family to enjoy in the evening. The games barn was a real asset for young and old to use. The owners were friendly and informative and quick to help and answer all our queries fully. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property for a family holiday and hopefully, one day, we will return!

  • "Very comfortable stay which met our needs completely."

Glorious weather which meant we didn’t use the barn, but the garden was perfect for sitting peacefully in after a long day walking.

  • "An absolutely fabulous house it provided everything only couple of niggles the shower in the en-suite was loose at the wall mounting and a little precarious and it took a long time to drain away so you had to make sure you finished showering before the water spilled out onto the bathroom floor."

Also a slow cooker in the kitchen would be a fantastic addition as the house accommodates large families you could put a meal in a slow cooker and it would be ready when you return after a day out walking. Diane and Alistair couldn’t have been more helpful they sorted out the ev charging point which was an absolute godsend for me as my car is all electric and they sorted out the washing machine for us they are absolute treasures and provide a lovely warm and very well kept and extremely clean property which we all enjoyed and would without hesitation make a return visit and definitely recommend it to family and friends who want to think about venturing into Scotland for the first time it’s a great location to get a feel for what Scotland has to offer we loved it.

  • "Lovely set up."

It was great for our family of 9, from toddler to grandparent with mobility issues and 2 dogs. Lots of games and books available for kids (and big kids) of different ages as well as the games in the barn. Also great facilities provided for babies although we did not use them. The dogs were also very happy with a utility to sleep in and being able to join us downstairs. My nephew celebrated his 10th Birthday while staying and had a great week.

  • "Lovely location, so pleased with the house and the kind owners who kept us informed about the weather."

A great family house for a group with the added benefit of a games room. The house was always warm, spotless on arrival, and not too far from Balirgowrie and shops and also cities of Dundee and Perth, with mountains to climb under an hour away. Great for wildlife too, Saw pheasants, deer, bramblings and a real 'Dark Sky' location.

  • "A delightful holiday property in a beautiful location."

It was ideal for our family stay and had everything we required. A fantastic base to explore the Angus and Perthshire countryside. Dog friendly with a great spacious garden which our black lab thoroughly enjoyed. Only there for one week but could have stayed much longer. Hopefully will return soon.

  • "We had a thoroughly enjoyable week at Holly House!"

We were two families sharing (8 of us in total) and there was plenty of room for everyone, with the games barn especially enjoyed! The beds were comfy, the kitchen was well equipped for cooking and the fire in the evenings was really cosy. We enjoyed walking in the local area as well as travelling a bit further afield to Perth and Dundee. The owners were kind and helpful and we would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the area.

  • "Holly House is a gem of a property in a stunning area if you like to enjoy the rural side of Scotland."

The owners are discreet but on hand should they be needed. It was very clean (the odd overlooked bit of dust here and there but nothing major) and facilities are excellent. Bed mattresses are soft which may not be to everybody's taste. The games barn is superb and perfect if weather is not kind. It's not often we find a property that we want to return to - here we definitely will!

  • "This is a brilliant house next to the owner's farm house in a beautiful rural location."

Whilst nearest shops is a ten minute drive, Tesco deliver and were really good. Owners were lovely and provided support when the ironing board was found to be broken, replacing it the same day. Accommodation was wonderful with plenty of room lovely dining area, great lounge. Lots of room in freezer, powerful oven great dishwasher, washing machine and tumbler. Wifi was a bit slow but considering the location, that was to be expected and mobile coverage was good. Showers were all good and the bathrooms were lovely including the wet room. House was very clean and garden was great too. We also made use of the lovely games barn with table tennis and pool table. The eco credentials of the property are fantastic and the water turbine and solar heating are made me happy. Couldn't be happier with the rental. Highly recommended.

  • "Such a well equipped house, had everything that we needed."

The games barn was a great success with the grandchildren (15 and 3) and having an enclosed garden for the dogs was a bonus too! An additional TV would have been good to keep the grandchildren happy at certain times but we worked around it. Overall an excellent holiday and would recommend the property to everyone.

We apologise for the disappointment caused regards the games barn. The equipment received some heavy use over the festive period but we have now replaced all of the damaged or broken equipment and are pleased to say that the barn is now fully restored. Property Owner

About the location

ALYTH

Blairgowrie 5 miles; Kirriemuir 11 miles.

Nestling in the hills of the Forest of Alyth and just south of the Cairngorms National Park, Alyth can trace its history back to the 12th century and perhaps even earlier given the remains of a vitrified fort on nearby Barry Hill. Local legend has it that King Arthur’s Queen Guinevere was a prisoner here of the Pictish King Mordred. Alyth developed throughout the 19th century both due to its textiles industry and the coming of the railway. Always a popular tourist destination due to its location and the founding of a golf course at the end of the 19th century with the original 9 hole course designed by Old Tom Morris from St Andrews and extended to 18 holes in 1934,with a further two clubs added in the area. The town today has an array of shops, bars and cafés. It is close to Blairgowrie, Kirriemuir and Dunkeld and the coast at Arbroath is easily reachable. Ideal for exploring the great outdoors, Alyth is ideal for walkers, cyclists, golfers and anglers as well as skiers.
