  • "Lovely cosy warn cottage."

Peaceful location. We were lucky to be the only ones there for our break. Several cottages next to one another, so would not be so peaceful if all were occupied. Upside down living was lovely but the sound proofing was poor if someone was in the kitchen and you are in bed downstairs. Water provision was an issue due to known, planned maintenance. However, we still did not have water a second day so could not shower and had to use boiled bottled water to wash dishes. Although other cottages were empty and apparently had water, we were not offered a move so went home early. disappointing

Very little water pressure, water was brown didn't always get water, had to leave the car away from the property Very little access to the loch unless you're walking

As mentioned on another cottage that weekend, due to storm damage To our water pipe our filtration system got blocked discolouring the water further and stopping the water flow , having discovered this we sorted the problem in two hours. My apologies but I am sure you realise this was out of our control Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful week staying at Learan Farm."

We booked Wallace, Campbell and Bruce and all were faultless. Amazing views and the houses were well equipped, comfortable and spotless. The weather was glorious and the views are incredible, highly recommend!

  • "This property is a part of six converted barn into holiday apartments with amazing views over the hills and lakes."

Lots of wildlife can be spotted from the balcony (pheasants, rabbits...). The listing is absolutely accurate and reaching the accommodation wasn't difficult, although it is quite remote (nearest hamlet 9 miles of B-road). Absolutely dog-friendly, plenty of places to take your dog for walks nearby.

  • "We loved the cottage, very comfortable, lots of space and all the facilities you might need."

It was very much nicer than we had expected from the photos. We certainly hope to book another stay here. We had some difficulty finding the property in the dark, partly because we had not read all the details properly but also because some of the details are misleading. While the property may be in Kilichonan you come across it before the sign for the village, and the details mention Learan Farm in a different place from the getting there info - it would have helped to be told to look out for a sign for Learan Holiday cottages before reaching Kilichonan. .

  • "Unfortunately there were a lot of dog hairs on sheets,on the settee and all over the carpets to the extent that walking in socks dog hair on the soles,I realise that this was dog friendly but it shout have been cleaned properly,we didn’t stay for the second week but moved to somewhere else which obviously caused us more expense and that place was also dog friendly but no trace of any dogs."

It certainly took the edge of that first week.I will say that when I complained to the owners they did reclean and changed the sheets.Generally the place was tired and shabby. Rosie Mitchell

Firstly, it should be noted that we were hoping to take over Learan Farm by the end of 2020. But due to Covid restrictions it did not happen until the end of March 2021, which did not leave us time to modernise the properties as we wished to. We mentioned it in our welcome letter to the guests and this process will be carried out this coming winter, to include new bathrooms, redecoration and new sofas. Secondly, we believe that the above review is scathing and in our opinion very harsh. Granted, on this occasion, the cleaning was sub-standard indeed. The cleaners made a huge mistake in not cleaning the second bedroom and the rest of the property was average. A serious reprimand was deserved and administered, and a huge apology given. However, the problem was flagged up by the guests within 5 minutes of arrival and dealt with immediately, to their approval. The reason I know this , is because the cleaners had left by then and my wife and I did it together over 2 hours. And the place was spotless when we had finished. We are new to this industry and learning fast so we accept your comments and look to learn from this for future guests. Property Owner

  • "The shower was really poor, tried to use both the power shower and the gravity one but neither gave any power."

For the cost of the accommodation I would have expected better. Decor was a little tired and in need of some TLC but apart from that a really comfortable and enjoyable stay. The location is stunning, the history and views kept us very busy during our 'relaxing' holiday! Another (slightly) negative was the lack of options for food - there was no pre-warning that the list of recommended eateries were not available. While this was not the accommodations fault due to covid - some pre warning might have been handy.

About the location

KINLOCH RANNOCH

Pitlochry 20 miles; Perth 46 miles.

Kinloch Rannoch grew from a tiny hamlet in the mid 18th century under James Small who had served in Lord Loudon’s Regiment and which consisted of discharged army soldiers and crofters who had lost their land. Roads and bridges were improved to allow ease of movement for soldiers at the nearby Rannoch Barracks. The Sleeping Giant is a hill near the village said to resemble the upper body of a man and local legend states the giant will awake upon hearing his master’s flute playing. The main activity today is tourism and Kinloch Rannoch is ideally located for walking, sailing and angling. The small market town of Aberfeldy is close by and boasts a cinema, leisure centre, restaurants and shops. The town is also the setting for scenes in the Outlander TV series. The tourist town of Pitlochry is also nearby and provides many shops, cafes and restaurants as well as the famous Pitlochry Festival Theatre boasting a different show every night of the week.
